Help with Bras

Hello,

I have been looking at bras in Penney's and all of the ones that are made of really soft fabric don't  go up to the size I wear.  I wear a 42B.  Does anyone have any ideas of a soft bra that would be comfortable enough to wear during radiation that would be available in this size?  I am halfway through radiation and am beginning to have pink spots under my breast that are uncomfortable with my regular bra.  Thanks.

    Hi Pam:

I couldn't wear a bra once I got those pink spots under my breast.  I used cornstarch to keep it dry and whenever I went anywhere I wore a "wife beater" undershirt under my regular shirt.  I'm "fluffy" too I wear a 44C.

I had 35 rads and I guess I went without a bra for about 3 weeks.  My skin held up really well.  The only challenge I had was the last 7 or so made my underarm burn and peel.  It wasn't painful and now it's all good.

The 2 good things are no hair under my left arm and I don't sweat under it either, lol

I also used radiagel after my daily treatment and at bedtime.  I use Cetaphil lotion now and it's all good.  Before you use anything, be sure to ask your RO.

    Take care,

    LaDonna

You  can find some larger size sports bras at Walmart cheap. I wore a 40DD before my lumpectomy which included a breast reduction.I don't know what size I wear now in a regular bra.I can not find a regular bra that fits. I have been wearing Genie bras in size 2 and 3x. They work great. I bought some of them a Walmart too. I just finished radiation yesterday. My skin did well but did get red. I used aloe vera without alcohol. I also got a few itchy spots like bug bites but the RO prescribed hydrocortisone that worked great. I wore the Genie bras without the pads in them most days. I came home and took my bra off on the days I was not busy. Good luck!

PamCA, I wore sports bras I found at Walmart during the last half of rads and they were comfortable. I found it easier to step in and out of them instead of putting them on over my head. Good luck with the last half of your rads treatments.
