Treated in Pittsburgh, PA at Allegheny General Hospital. TCH combo (taxotere, carboplatin, Herceptin) 6 doses every three weeks of all three than finished the year of Herceptin. I had surgery first, then chemo and then radiation. Diagnosed in July of 2010, surgery was August 23, 2010. Mastectomy with full axillary node clearance, 33 rads to three fields. Opted out of two clinical trials offered to be, one was with avastin, can't remember the other one but it had to do with giving something other than Hercepin (began with an L). My signature does not reveal that my entire tumor size was 7.5cm. It was mostly DCIS. I had numerous tumors, the largest is listed, the rest were small. I also had Paget's disease of the nipple, four positive nodes, LVI present. That's all folks...

After unilateral MX, my mom's SC onc originally recommended TAC while her second opinion at Fox Chase recommended FEC -- both saying no dense dose. Her Onc at home spoke with an Onc at MD Anderson and they both finally agreed upon FEC (since she was considered moderate instead of high risk as she did not have lymph node or other area involvement). Radiation was also recommended, but not sure how many treatments they would have done. However, my mom decided against chemo and rads -- wanted quality of life.
She also was recommended for 5 years of HT -- started on Anastrozole (Arimidex) in March 2011, was on it until August 2011 then switched to Letrozole (Femara) due to severe digestive issues, then switched to Exemestane (Aromasin) in November 2011 due to finger and thumb issues. Went off all HT in Feb. 2012 due to severe digestive issues and hand pain. She's taking nothing now, so she's going at it without any treatment at this point. I know that's a bit odd for this forum of women and for most women with Stage III BC, but it's been a good decision for her so far as she remains NED.

Love seeing all the TAC ladies doing well many years after chemo!

I had surgery in Dubai, followed by chemo at the Gulf International Cancer Center in Abu Dhabi. I am partway through 4 DD AC treatments, to be followed by 12 (or maybe more?) weekly treatments of something else, I think maybe taxol but not positive. Rads to follow that...

I don't yet know stage or grade, and I guess I won't until after left mastectomy. I was just diagnosed on July 27, 2012. Idc Er/pr HER2+.
I'm being treated at the Stephanie Spielman Comprehensive Breast Center, Columbus Ohio. It's part of the James Cancer Center at Ohio State University. I have an awesome oncology team.
Right now the plan is mastectomy between now and early October, followed by chemo...Adria cytoxan, and taxol. Won't know until after surgery if I need rads. I guess I'll be taking Herceptin too. -
Desertmama, I have been quite happy with my doctors. I was treated in a private hospital and found it to be very good. I am trying to study Arabic, but your beautiful language is very difficult
so I only know a little.
-
Momine, I am glad your health care experience is good! I'm a Canadian expat, and not of Arabic descent. I studied Arabic for the first couple of years I lived here and I agree with you- it is difficult! It took me quite a while to learn to read it, and the problem still remains that I mostly have no idea what the words I have just read might mean. :-) My children, on the other hand, have picked it up more easily than I and have no hesitation starting conversations in Arabic.
-
Your kids are LUCKY, and they will never be unemployed. I can read it, but not necessarily pronounce what I read. First time I have ever encountered this problem when learning a new language and ao frustrating.
