A friend of mine said on face book, how are you keeping them from melting in all this heat? We have had temps close to 100 here in the foothills of North Carolina.

Allow me to take a moment to say I LOVE CRAFTERS!  Lots of you make all kinds of wonderful and beautiful things that truly amaze me.  But beyond this, most of you do it for no other pleasure than that of giving these beautiful works of art as tokens of your love to others.  I became especially aware of this in the last few months after my wife started an organization called Girls Love Mail.  Girls Love Mail collects hand-written letters of encouragement and distributes them to breast cancer patients around the country through the caregivers at oncology offices and cancer centers.

As soon as word went out about Girls Love Mail, my wife started receive dozens (sometimes boxes) of handmade cards from crafters everywhere.  Many were sent still blank inside so they could be used by others who could not afford stationery, but many, many more were sent with the most beautiful messages handwritten inside.  I am so proud of my wife for starting Girls Love Mail, and I am also proud to have witnessed the giving hearts of so many crafters.  THANK YOU!  If you would like to get involved with Girls Love Mail, we'd love to have you.  Go to www.girlslovemail.com where you can sign up to be a letter-writer and get more information.  God bless you all!

Finally got my youngest daughter to find a sweater pattern she is excited about. Also ordered yarn to try my hand at entrelac knitting...some collect nuts for the winter, I collect yarn and patterns. Thyroid biopsies on Friday...it's the last area still lighting up on the PET scan.

Laural - Good luck on your thyroid biopsies.  Mine also lit up on the PET but the biopsies were B9.  I pray yours are also.  I absolutely love the afghan you made for your daughter.

It's been a while since there were posts to this Thread but thought I'd post anyway to bring it back up as there are many newer here.

I don't really consider most of what I do to be 'crafts' but rather 'hobbies'. I do like to sew, crochet and tat but I do a lot more of other 'things'.  I do leather carving/work, fly tieing, rod building, flint knapping (making arrow points, blades, etc.) and the newest - carving Woodfellows (carving a face into a wood knot).  I do make Christmas ornaments with ornamental flies I've tied.

    So what do ya'll do?

I do plastic canvas. I just completed a project that resembles an Oriental vase. I want to get some fake flowers for it and give it to my PS. I did a windmill in a pale yellow and gave it to my BS last month. I have done bookmarks for the cancer center where I see my MO.
