Congrats, Frosty and Susan!!!! Wow..... you guys must be so proud. What's next? Are your kids going away for college and you are going to remodel their room into something else? I can't begin to imagine.... But then my youngest is only starting Kindergarten in the fall. :-)

I was wondering if anyone who had a BMX would like to have coffee with me and talk about their experience. I am considering going back and getting a BMX because Chemo has "crippled" my body and brain, and there is no way that I will add insult to injury and do radiation. Needless to say, my MDs are not happy about it, but I have to listen to my body and my gut feeling. It's been a tough few weeks to come to this conclusion....

Anyway.... It's June. Where is the sun??? :-)

Yes, he's off to college at the end of August.  He's only in Redmond..so not too far.. but will be living on campus because it's about a 2+ hour commute with traffic.  He's our one and only so it will be quite a transition not to have him around every day. Undecided

Since he'll most likely be home during the summer we'll have to wait on the bedroom remodel though. ;)

I would love to have coffee and chat with you again.. I had the (nipple sparing) bmx even though I could have just had a lumpectomy.  One of the (many) reasons was to avoid radiation. I work in Tacoma so could meet you someday after work in the middle somewhere? :)

And I hear you on the lack of sun. At least my lawn doesn't need to be watered as much. :)

Sleepless - I had BMX and would be happy to talk to you about my experience also, had implants, and no regrets!   I am just south of Seattle, working 3 1/2 days a week, but could meet an evening or a Thursday or Friday.

Sleepless - I had unilateral mastectomy (left) and I had radiation after chemo. According to Dr. Kim, RO at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, I had 35% chance of local recurrence without radiation, because of my age and grade (3) I am in a "gray area". I had radiation and I had terrible wounds. My WBC are still really low (2.6) and I finished rads 4 months ago. I will have a bone marrow biopsy this week and if I am clean, it's probably a SE and prolong recovery from the rads. I will have prophylactic mastectomy (right) and reconstruction on July 18th, but first they will give me Neulasta to be ready. Good luck!

    Hi ladies,

congratulations on all of the graduations.  My girls head out to their last day of school today.  After that I will have a 9th and a 10th grader and I am not ready!!

Sleepless-I did not have a BMX so I can't speak to that experience, but I did want to add that though everyone has a different experience with radiation, not all of them are bad.  I did radiation after a lumpectomy and chemo and though it was a pain to have to be somewhere every day, the overall experience was just fine.  I had some "sunburned" areas by about week 5 which required lots of lotion and I got to the point in the last week or so where I could use a nap occassionally, but other than that I didn't have any issues.  My radiation experience was MUCH easier than chemo, in fact no real comparison at all.  I am not making any recommendations to you, I just wanted you to know that there are people who make it through radiation without any problems.

OK ladies, I can't keep track...who is planning to go on the Las Vegas trip?  I just bought my tickets this week.  Woohoo!

HI Everyone, Yes i am going to Vegas. Susan i just checked the flights yesterday, they came down about 20 dollars on Alaska not Southwest. But i haven't bought them yet. It was about 280.00 without all the fees. Tracey did you get a better deal than that, what airlines are you flying on? Susan, let me know what you want to do, i can buy mine at any time, but would like to go on the same flight. Thanks, i can't wait!!

There was a sale on Southwest flights last week.  I think I paid 239.00 round trip...something like that.  I leave Friday morning and come back on Tuesday.  I usually wait until August or so to buy, but keep watching.  Southwest is almost always the cheapest into Las Vegas.

If you are going, make sure you reserve your rooms and let TraceyZ know you are going for sure.  She is the master of the list of people.

    Hi Ladies!

Thank you Susan, and Libby for offering to meet with me. I am having a nasty cold right now, so everything is on hold. Grr. Who gets a cold in June, anyway, other than my kids and I? ;-)

Tracy, thanks for sharing your radiation history. I hear what you are saying, and I know that most people have few side effects from radiation. It's just that all my life my body has not tolerated meds of any kind; whenever I take meds, I end up getting the "rare" side effects. - My MO told me that chemo was not going to be 'too bad", because I was "young and healthy"?! Anyway. Four of the eight chemos I had were debilitating for me. - I just feel I cannot add radiation to that, especially after I read about all the SE radiation can cause for people with my health history. ;-(

Ok, so depending on what is going to happen in terms of me having a MX or BMX (or nothing at all), I am not sure if I can make it to Vegas.... If I can make it, it would probably only be Fri through Sun though.

Also, are we having another get-together one of these days?!

Sleepless - I'm happy to meet with you sometime, too. Sounds like maybe we need another Sexy Seattle get together before too long. My BMX was by choice partly to avoid radiation. I'm sensitive to meds, etc. as well.

I'm planning to go to Vegas, too. I had to postpone my DIEP revisions so am now working to reschedule it around Vegas and another vacation and either have wounds healed long enough to be able to go in the pool or wait until October for surgery. I really don't want to wait that long but it sounds like for the Ta Ta's get together it's probably worth the wait :) Let's keep our eyes open for airfares and I'd love to travel together too.

Sounds like we'll have a great group representing Seattle!  I have a roomie, but we are looking for 2 more in our room (the more the merrier).  Haven't bought my tickets yet ... I keep hoping the cost will come down.

Aimeemac, the las Vegas trip is under a message board called 4th annual Ta Tas reunion. It has grown from about 25 ladies from all over to about 60. We have several activities that you can opt in or out of but it is really all about getting together and having fun and celebrating our journeys. Go check it out! Super fun. It just so happens that there are several Seattle ladies attending this year.

AimeeMac -- we Seattle ladies also get together about once a quarter in downtown Seattle to check in and share laughs.  It is a great evening!  Stay tuned for the next one ... probably late September or early October.

Hi all!  I haven't been on here in awhile but April11 and Golfer (don't have the names quite right) and I had dinner recently in Poulsbo and wondered how everyone on the boards was doing.  With kids back in school and guests now gone (just this morning) I had a little time to write and say hello.  Did you all go to Vegas and meet up?  I hope everyone's enjoying these beautiful September days!  Take care!

I haven't posted on this thread before or been to any of the get-togethers. I live in Seattle but am planning a move in the relatively near future, possibly to the Olympia area. I am one-fourth of the way through chemotherapy, to be followed by reconstructive surgery (no rads for me). I am leaning toward DIEP at Virginia Mason for my reconstruction. Has anyone on that thread had their surgery at VMMC?
