Is the seaweed/iodine in the diet the difference between the rates of breast cancer in Asia and the breast cancer rates in America?

Is there a connection between iodine-deficiency caused thyroid tumors and breast cancer? Are women who live in areas away from the coastal regions where iodine from the sea is not available more likely to get breast cancer? Is there a connection between the function of the thyroid gland and breast cancer?

    My naturopath told me that there is an association (not cause/effect) between hypothyroidism and breast cancer. There's a lot of women who have both conditions.

    The links are not working, but I'll search it myself. I'm very interested in this as I have been hypothyroid with Hashimoto's since I was 18.

    Yes, there is a connection as Christine Horner, MD noted in her book Waking the Warrior Goddess, in that breast cancer cells will absorb iodine but its toxic to them. However, normal breast cells and other cells are not harmed by regular iodine because as you know they sell iodized salt in the grocers.

    Sometimes I feel like: is it tofu or iodine? is it Maybelline or was she just born that way? I mean researchers are trying to find out why is it that Asians who stay in Asia and eat traditional diets have lower rates of cancer but bring them to the USA and their rates go up? Of course,rural Chinese are gonna have lower rates of cancer! How far is it to the nearest place where they can breath smog, eat french fries or get a jelly donut? Its the price we pay for being human?
