Good afternoon! Hope everyone is having a good SE free day. Work has been super busy today, so this is the first time I've had a chance to log on.
alice: Hope the SEs are easier this time.
TG: Hope your pain is getting better. I am on day 6 after final Taxol and the bone and joint pain seems to be gradually getting better. However, now I have some mild neuropathy in my feet and my left thumb. Hope it leaves soon.
kltb: I wanna see Ted. I don't know why but I do. Re: kiddos - I have boys and they are kind of reluctant to let their feelings show, but my youngest is having some issues that I firmly believe are related to my cancer. He is nine, and, after I was diagnosed, he suddenly began refusing to spend the night away from home, even with his grandparents. And he moved back into the bed with me and DH. He's the baby and everyone in the house kind of babies him (including his 16 year old brother), but now he refuses to sleep anywhere except right beside me. He is adamant that it has nothing to do with me being sick or him being scared, but I'm sure it does. We just try to reassure him as much as possible. I keep thinking that maybe when I'm not always going to the doctor, and sick and hurting and tired from the treatments, and my hair starts to come back, things will begin to seem more normal to him and he will get past it.

Hi Lana
The onc reduced infusion number two of Taxotere to half yesterday, I think, and it seems to be doing the trick.
Feel so much better than this time last round.
Wonder if this would work for other ladies who have had challenges with Taxotere too? Thank you for asking.
I don't have any children but you sound like a lovely mother.

MLB - I seem to gain and lose the same 3-5 pounds during each treatment - so I guess I have pretty much stayed the same. I was shocked when I heard lots of people gain weight during chemo - who would have thought?! My cousin ( who is very sick, stage 4) has lost tons of weight but on different drugs. She is 5'8" (same as me) and ways maybe 110! I, am A LOT higher than that! So I guess everyone is different! I personally wouldn't have minded losing a few pounds, but I haven't been as careful as I should have with my diet!
Hope everyone has a wonderful 4th of July with minimal SE! Stay cool and safe!
-
Hi all. I'm still having a lot of leg pain but that's really the only thing I can complain about. I'm going to start back up with my aqua fitness class this week to see if that will help any. I have been using Icy/Hot on my knees and it seems to take some of the edge off.
Weight wise I lost 10 lbs at the start of chemo and then would fluctuate from there...losing 5 more right after tx and then gaining that 5 back right before next tx. I'm hoping I can keep that initial 10 lbs off now that I'm done with chemo!
I'm getting some fuzz on my head! You practically need the magnifying mirror to see it, but at least something is growing! Unlike my eyelashes which are still dwindling...my 7 yo niece was kind enough to count them yesterday...it didn't take long.
Wishing a happy, safe, and SE free 4th to everyone. -
I finished the 6 rounds on Thursday. I was a bit fatigued for a few days but back to normal---whatever that is LOL. Now to work on losing the weight I gained and getting ready for another surgery. Will be glad when I shake the chemo brain. Looking forward to appreciating tomorrow and all the glory. Hope everyone has a wonderful 4th
-
WOOHOO Liv2laugh on last chemo - I'm right behind you - tomorrow is mine!
Happy 4th of July!
-
klt04
Why won't they let you give yourself the Neulasta shot? I did, very easy, painless. At first I was a little freaked out when I was told but it made life alot easier really. The extra running around is really too much.
-
Happy 4th of July to my American friends!!
-
Happy 4th of July!
-
MLB - I could have given myself the shot if I wanted to pay $600 each time - I opted to drive the 20 mins to get it down. Isn't that CRAZY!
Hope everyone is enjoying their day.
-
MLB-I bring the shot home with me and my husband or dad gives it to me
-
I think it was an insurance thing - if they do it in the office, it is a procedure but if I took it home, it was a prescription?? I couldn't even give my cat a shot a few months ago so I doubt I would have been able to do it, lol.
Crappy boring day around here. DH was off but it is ridiculously too hot to do anything. Started having Nuelasta pain so I just stayed in bed most of the day. All the fireworks have been canceled due to burn bans. We are having random fires pop up all over the state. A few places are still doing them over lakes/rivers but nothing around here.
I just sent DH after pizza and we are sitting here watching Dance Moms. Exciting.
-
kltb - I'm watching fireworks on tv - nice and air conditioned!
-
Us too now
We are watching the Macy's one...
Even when we do have displays, I am not a "hang out and have an evening of fireworks" gal. We would usually just drive down to the parking lot of the high school and watch from the air conditioned van, lol.
-
I love the Macy's one! Watched it the last couple years!
-
Good morning ladies - 6th and last chemo today! WOOHOO! I will be ringing that bell and doing a little happy dance! Radiation next!
Have a wonderful day!

Onvacation
Yay to the last chemo TX!!!!
It has been crazy hot and humid up here too. Apparently some releif is on the way on Saturday. The grass looks like crap LOL! I've been on a watering mission the last few days in the mornings and evenings. While most neighbors look the same, of course my retired neighbor's grass looks like a putting green. I've been spending alot of time taking care of issues with moving my Mom into an assisted living home and the D day is the 14th so there's alot to do. Thank God there are 6 kids and 5 living locally so everyone is pitching in along with there spouses. There is a set of dishes my Mom has that I have eyed forever and my sister asked me last night if I would mind if she took them. I never said anything to her previous so I just let it go. After this crazy year I'm so not worried about a set of dishes LOL.
I had my Mom there yesterday for an assessment so its the 2nd time she has been. While I was busy filling out paperwork she joined the other residents for coffee and a snack and there was an Elvis impersonator entertaining the lot. We have seen every local residence in the last month or so and while this isn't the fanciest, she loved it. So that's the most important thing right? Its hard letting go of the fact she is no longer able to live alone (won't live with any of her kids) when she has been so independant and strong her whole life but its time.
Thankfully I don't have to go out at all today and can work from home to stay out of this heat!
-
MLB - that has to be tough moving your mom, but sounds like she is at a good place with lots of family support!
-
onvacation-Ring that bell!! Doing a happy dance for you!
We didn't do much yesterday too HOT. DH and I went for a ride to check out a campground. If I can't travel far I would at least like to go camping. No fireworks here either, burn bans. We didn't think about watching them on tv. Today I'm heading out to meet up with my cousin I haven't seen in about 8 years. We we togther all the time when we were young, but her DH is military so they've been far away.
Tomorrow I head up for my last Taxol!!
-
Good morning everyone! We had fireworks here, but there should have been a burn ban (it's crazy dry). They say we may get a few showers today though. We grilled steaks and bratwursts yesterday, then DH had to work last night and youngest DS went to the fireworks show with my sister and her family. So I had a peaceful and relaxing night at home. I made six jars of blackberry jelly so I did accomplish a little. Other than that, I curled up on the couch and watched tv. Back at work this morning - cheesecake for breakfast. My good friend and coworker made a caramel pecan cheesecake and the firm is treating us to sushi for lunch in celebration of my finishing chemo. Then work tomorrow and weekend time. I'm ready!
-
Onvacation - yay!!!! So happy for you and hope for no SE's this last treatment. Hope to see you on rads thread.
Lostinmo - best of luck tomorrow!!! Will be thinking you.
In the chair right now for my LAST Taxol!!! How exciting as I thought that this day would never get here. Between my ONC and I we decided to do a reduced dose as I still have numbness in my feet. She felt that doing a full dose it could get worse or a possibility of never going away. She did not feel it would change the % for reoccurrence of the BC. Just hope I made the right decision.
To all the other special ladies out there all my thoughts and surpport are with you. I will constantly check on all as much as possible. Hope to see some of you on Rad's thread. -
Forgot to see that they have no abell here. Needless to say I'll be hearing all kinds of bells and whistles in my head. I'm probably the only one siting here with a big smile on my face!!!!
-
Jaunaryice-yay for the one!! Hope this one is easier on you!
lanagraves-cheesecake yummmmm!!! You can keep the sushi though. lol
-
Congrats to everyone finishing up chemo!! I'll definitely be over on the rads thread, but I think I'll hang around here too and keep up with everybody. The cheesecake was fabulous. Oh, and I'm going totally topless now - no cap or wig (I've decided caps and wigs and Mississippi summers don't mix). I have a little bit of fuzz, but it's hard to see unless I'm in bright sunlight, so mostly just bald. Kind of liberating actually.
-
Onvacation, January - both your last chemos?? Congratulations! (I apologize if I missed anyone.) Having my 2nd Carboplatin today....not so bad as A/C and T. Actually, this once a week stuff is a cake walk by comparison, but check back with me at the end of week 6
-
Hi all - another hot humid housebound day here. Doing some laundry and have a roast in the crockpot and that is the extent of today's activities.
Congrats on the last chemos Kim and January! Kam, hope today goes ok for ya.
lana - that cheesecake sounds fabulous! I am still doing the scarves and caps things but I have totally given up on the wig. I have fuzz more on the top of my head than the sides.
MLB - it sounds like your mom is adjusting well and that is oh so important in these transitions. My grandfather still refuses to even leave his room or go to any activities
and he has been in the facility he is in for 2 years.
lost - have fun with your cousin and good luck tomorrow.
I suppose I could give the house a once over - MIL is coming just to spend the night tomorrow on her way driving through to visit her sister. I told DH to tell her that depending on how I feel, I may be in the bed so to be prepared for me not to be social.
-
Hope everyone had nice 4th!
I'm in infusion room getting #7 out of 12 of taxol and herceptin. So far ok, only SE is dizzy/vertigo on and off since beginning of taxol chemo. My MO doesn't seem to be worried, so I let it go. I had UTI last week and finished antibiotic. Little muscle pain on lower back. That is all SE I have so faroh and, my hair is growing back!! I kept petting petting my head
I'm having mixed feelings abut whether to get radiation or not? My mo insisted I should do it, I'm gonna do more research. But definitely will get herceptin infusion every 3 weeks for a year.
I'm so happy for all of you who finished or almost finished chemo!!! ((( group hugs))))!!! -
Sounds like several gals are finishing up chemo! I rang that bell LOUD and did a little dance and everyone clapped! I got a bit teary eyed, no idea why! My appt with the RO is Tuesday so I should be starting in July and will be on that thread as well as this one!
My dog didn't think I needed a nap when I got home, so I'm sure it will be an early night for me!
Hope everyone had a good day!
-
Way to go, Kim and Lanagraves on finishing chemo! YAY!
As you can imagine we have a ban on fireworks at home (that's been the case for a long time, actually). There were some large displays though, and I could see the one at Denver City Park from the corner of my block. It was really good and lasted a long time - I was just standing in my neighbor's yard, and I walked back home before it ended thanks to the mosquitoes.
I enjoyed the Fourth more than I expected to because we got our new grill fired up. Now summer feels right to me! Grilled up hot dogs and turkey brats, with salads, baked beans and watermelon on the side. I also made red, white and blue layered drinks - you use three kinds of sports drinks. I thought they looked prettier than they tasted but I'm not a gatorade fan.
Been cleaning and resting, cleaning and resting, getting ready for my mom and niece to arrive tomorrow evening. Only little blip in my day - a lady backed into my car at Walmart this morning. :-( Not too much damage and nobody hurt, and she gave me her insurance info, so it'll get fixed.
Stay cool everyone and I'm hoping for lots of monsoon rains for all of us. And minimal SEs of course! -
Indio- those fires look bad - similar to what we had in texas last year - very scary!
Stay cool!
