Rads to rib mets after previous whole breast radiotherapy?

Still working my brain around the whole radiotherapy concept and am curious about what happens if you have your lifetime dose of rads as whole breast rads during early stage cancer and then get rib mets.

Does the previous rads to your ribs mean that you can't ever get palliative rads to those ribs?

I specifically asked my RO that when we were discussing whole breast rads since I have bone mets (yes in my ribs too). She told me that they could still spot radiate the ribs. They are very resilient.

My RO confirmed that usually they will still do rads (about 8gy) to rib mets in the area previously radiated. The risk/benefit ratio for more rads changes for mets...
