    Hello ladies!

Maybe it's a stupid question, but can anyone tell me, please, what's the difference betwen a local recurrence (in the skin, after a mastectomy) and a skin met? Any info it's useful.

    Thanks!

Hi wannabe, and welcome to BCO.

Although you'll likely hear from other members who can share their personal experiences with local recurrence or skin mets, there is also information on the main Breastcancer.org site that may help you with the differences.

    Local Recurrence

    Metastatic Recurrence

The local recurrence in the skin would be along your mastectomy surgery site. Skin mets would be if they were found anywhere else from where your cancer was initially.

    Thank you for you answers!

I've done a lot of research and still I don't have a conclusion.

My mother was diagnosed with a skin met (under the scar line in the mastectomy surgery site). Is she stage IV now? CT and bone scan were clear. Apparently no distant mets were found.

    I'm very confused...
