I'm 43, pre-menopausal and have IDC and DCIS in the left breast.  I am newly diagnosed and just confirmed ER+ and PR+ both at 90%.  While still in testing stages (MRI on Friday, oncologist meeting July 11), is there any benefit to starting on a hollistic approach to stop the estrogen?  (grape seed extract, DIM).  I hate the waiting and while I know it's necessary for all the testing would love to know I'm doing something to start fighting now.

Exercise, exercise, exercise.  It's been shown over and over again to reduce the chances of recurrence.  Studies about soy, extracts, and other supplements are all over the place with no definitive answers one way or another about whether they help, harm, or have no effect. There's no such doubt or ambiguity about exercise - it's all positive.  Also, exercise will absolutely help you get through whatever treatment is in the future for you, both mentally and physically.

You may want to check out the Complementary and Alternate medicine sections - they're more "up" on the latest supplements and maybe have specific info about grapeseed.

If you're interested in exercise, there's a thread in the Fitness section called "Let's Post Our Daily Exercise".  It's a great group of ladies who post regularly there - some are newly diagnosed, some are in active treatment, and some are years out of treatment.  We have newbies who can barely walk around the block who post and we have marathoners who post - most of us are somewhere inbetween.  We all support each other's efforts to use exercise to help us cope with this diagnosis and improve our prognoses.
