I don't know what I'm doing I just know it's a surprise. My birthday is July 3 so my bff has something planned with my family for the 4th (I work the 3rd)

Seven years ago, when we built our house in this new development, we could go sit out in the back yard and watch the stunning fireworks show they put on at the nearby high school.

But now all the trees have now grown so tall, we have great shade, but see only faint bursts of color behind them when the fireworks start at dusk!

Sometimes all the neighbors will walk down the sidewalk with their lawn chairs, to sit on the grassy areas in the HS parking lot and watch the show.

(It's a big community celebration with music, fireworks, and an admission fee.)

    Other than that, no plans.

That sounds fun to us, Blessings! Nothing like sitting back, watching some fireworks, and just taking it all in. Thanks for sharing!

Climbing Mt. Shasta! It is an annual tradition for me and my son. More empowering than anything else I have ever done. Happy fourth everyone!

Just had a good-bye breakfast for my older brother, that is going to live in the Philippines but otherwise I think I will just sit back in the air-conditioning and take it easy.

Just ran the Peachtree Road Race with about 40,000 others in Atlanta! It 's the worlds largest 10k and tons of fun!

Now, I am sprucing up the house for about 250 friends and family to join us in our annual street party. It used to be about 50 of us, but grows each year. We drag grills out to the street, coolers are iced down, and kids run through sprinklers. We have a huge fireworks show we all chipped in to fund that will start just after dark.

    Happy 4th to all!
