Anyone have mets pop up DURING chemo after clear PET?

Options

I was dx'd in February, had a BMX, and started DD AC+T in March. I will finish my last Taxol this Thursday. The issue I'm having started about a month ago. I have a persistent pain and tenderness in my upper rib cage on the side opposite my BC. It isn't severe, just worrisome and persistent. I thought at first I had pulled something but it doesn't seem to be getting better. My onc said we need to keep an eye on it but doesn't seem particularly worried. Wish I wasn't.

My doctor said in his 17 years of practice he'd never seen cancer come back during adjuvent therapy.  Here's hoping it's nothing.  We all have aches and pains during cancer tx and I bet that's it  Good luck!

I had significant pain in my rib during treatment.  It was on the cancer side (so not quite the same).  I assumed it was just inflammation/lymphedema from the surgery and from chemo.  I have no idea why I never even mentioned it.  I just assumed pain from treatment was normal.  Do you get the neulesta shots?  The shot can cause horrible pain. I would also have significant neck pain, jaw pain and sometimes back pain from this shot. The steroids we have to take can also cause pain. There are soo many things about our treatment that can cause pain that I would try not to worry about that pain too much. And pain caused from our treatment can be different after each cycle. I imagine that it WILL get better and go away. Hang in there, you are almost done with chemo!!! Smile

I also had rib pain - turned out to be nothing.  I think it's pretty normal.

Thanks ladies! That does make me feel better. I was thinking I had seen several other ladies post about rib pain during chemo. And I know my friend kltb in our March chemo had a similar issue not too long ago and hers turned out to be nothing too. It's just hard not to let those thoughts creep in every I have a new ache.

I had more aches, pains and things happen to me during my A/C & T than I had ever felt in my entire life.

Funny, I read this before I saw that it was your topic, lana and I thought "hey, my favorite subject/obsession!"

Mine is bugging the crap out of me this week - I think because I have been thinking about it.  Of course, I don't think of mine as pain more of "vauge general sensation of weirdness"  If it were not on the opposite side of my cancer/SNB I would be convinced it was a mild truncal LE.

I was perusing another board (an her2+ board) and saw people mentioning the same thing - rib pain with no definite cause.

Everytime I worry about something new, my MO's nurse reassures me that "it is very unlikely you would have cancer spreading during chemo".

Oh and I have a tiny new rash I am worried about between my boobs (that as you aware, I still have since my chemo is neoadjuvant and which I am sure could be serving as home base for cancer cells spreading about).

kltb: I think we are sisters and just don't know it - LOL! We definitely think (and obsess) alike. I think I just let everything that is the least bit abnormal (as if everything isn't these days) freak me out. This rib pain has been hanging around for a month now. It's not debilitating, not even enough that I have to take a tylenol for it - it's just annoying because it's there and I don't know what's causing it. It started right after our weekend trip to Memphis, so at first I thought I had pulled something the day we spent at Incredible Pizza. I rode go karts and bumper cars probably 20 times each, played 4 games of lazer tag, 4 or 5 games of mini-bowling, and several rounds of miniature golf that day, but I keep thinking if that was it, it should be getting better by now.

I had exactly this last year all through my treatment!  All through my chemo I had this 'odd' feeling/tenderness about my ribs particularly on my left (non-cancer side).  Every time I went to the oncologist I mentioned it and she kept saying she didn't think it was anything to worry about & each time I asked her 'how she knew that' although I never really got a straight answer.  Anyway I finished my treatment (I had stage 3 so a lot) just before christmas and then in January my head started to really go to a difficult place.  In the end due to this feeling in my ribs and other bone pain I was referred for a bone scan, which was completely clear from head to toe!!  The feeling did gradually subside the further I got past treatment so hang in there it sounds so similar.

Lucca - that is great to hear!  I am convinced my chemo exacerbates whatever this feeling I have (also on the left/noncancer side) and stress/worry makes it even worse.  If I am not as worried about it, I don't feel it as much. :)

My rib tenderness is still there, five weeks PFC. It feels almost like a bruise, non cancer side. I am taking rads but not taking Tamox yet. I've had a PET scan and rib detail X-ray and both were clear. The onc says its nothing. I should not be worrying about this anymore, but I can't help it. :(
