Xeloda for Stage 3 or Stage 2 - what is the protocol?

Hello, all. I would like to hear from Stage 2 or Stage 3 patients who were put on Xeloda after rads - for extra chemo.

What is the dosage? How often do you get it? Xeloda is a pill, right? Is it a pill every day for a few months? Thanks.

Hi TectonicShift.. to my knowledge Xeloda is used for stage 4.. a friend who has mets to her liver is taking it, yes a pill, twice a day.  I'm not sure of the dose she is taking but I do know she has just had it lowered because of all of the side effects she was getting.  She is much better on the lower dose.

Hope someone else will come along and help you a bit better.

Hi, TectonicShift.  I'll be finished with rads on July 10, but they want me to start Xeloda as soon a the mail order company can deliver it.  Apparently the medication and radiation potentiate each other for a better effect of each.

When radiation is over, I'll be taking four rounds of Xeloda.  You take 2-4 pills, twice daily, in whatever dosage fits your body weight.  The pills are taken every day for two weeks, then a week off, and that makes a "round."

We're doing this because of the GeparTrio Study out of Germany.  I did chemo before surgery, but when they did my mastectomy, the path report said there were still a few viable cancer cells where the tumor used to be (not many, though), which is common with hormone positive tumors.   We want to open a can of whoop-ass on this cancer THIS TIME AROUND.

    Is this your scenario?

Hi, sbelizabeth. Thanks very much! I had surgery first, so I do not know if the chemo worked. I wish I had had neoadjuvant, although my onc says if I had not had a good response he would not have necessarily given me any more chemo.

I just finished rads and I have asked for Xeloda and he says no. Can I ask where you are being treated and/or who your onc is? You can PM me and tell me privately if you don't want to say on the board.
