Help me understand path report

I just had my post operative follow up today for a lumpectomy (everything was clear).  Please help me understand my path report.  I understand cribriborm and intermediate grade 2, but when I look on the internet at the meaning of each, it says it isn't cancer so I'm assuming I'm interpreting it wrong.  Thanks for your help.

DCIS, atypical ductal hyperplasia, extensive sclerosing adenosis with associated microcalicifications, columnar ductal hyperplasia and intraductal papillomatosis, previous biopsy site changes, cribriform, intermediate grade 2.

I'm sorry Bar65, but you do have cancer, just non-invasive cancer.  Look up posts from Beesie.  She taught me so much.

    Best wishes.

Thanks for your reply.  I was told that, and I've accepted that, it's just so confusing when you get the path report and look this stuff up.  I'm very greatful that everything was taken out the first time.  I'm just greatful it was even found in the first place.  I just wish I didn't have to have radiation, but it is what it is.

I understand how you feel.  I was dreading rads, but since I ended up with a UMX I didn't have them. Glad they got clear margins for you.

    Dear Bar65,

While you are waiting for more members to respond, you may want to check out some information on DCIS on the main breastcancer.org site.

    We hope this helps!
