Back hurts 1 yr after bmx
Its been a year since my surgery and my back is still hurting. It's a spot between my left shoulder blade and spine. My Dr's don't have a good reason for it to be hurting and it even went away for about 6 months but now it's back. I can stand it during the day but at night is when if really Botha. Now my back has been tense and sore also. Us anyone else still feeling or ever had pain in your back after surgery. I feel like I need a chiropractor or something.

Kita....you may want to ask your docs for a referal or Rx to see a physical therapist who specializes in myofascial release PT. Did you have reconstruction? If you have implants, they are under your pec muscles. Those are big muscles that attach in several places....sternum, scapula, spinal area. My scapula is pulled forward on my UMX side and so I often have neck and upper back pain along with neck pain. My PT helps me so much. I hope you feel better soon.

Yes I have tissue expanders under my chest muscles.

kita-I recently was referred to a PT who specializes in myofascial release. What a difference! If I didn't have BC I would have gone stright to a chiropractor or acupuncturist. My PCP order an xray & it showed that my arthritis went from "mild" to "moderate" since my last Xray 15 months ago. It's both my low back & neck. I still might go the chiropratic route but for now PT is helping. Hoping you find some relief soon.

I have been reading all the pain posts and I have similar concerns. I have a dull yet sharp at time pain on my right shoulder blade. Also the right brease where the mastectomy was performed burns and also has the dull yet sharp pains at time. Sometimes I am ok other times I can't even sleep. I asked my doctor and she said some women suffer from this pain for years and years but no explanation or help. I get so concerned and worried since when my breast cancer was detected I had suffered of pain and was advised that pain was good it meant nothing serious and it took 8 months before anything was actually done.
Any advise

Sometimes the pain is permanent....but that is more rare than it going away, sometimes over a few years. All of what has been said works, as well as low dose antidepressants. I found low dose ativan took away almost all the pain so I knew it had something to do with muscle tensness rather than actual nerve damage. Muscle tension is insidious; you don't even KNOW you are tensing them! I am thinking of Tai Chi now....that can help.
