Recurrence less than 3 months after bilateral mastectomy

Hi all,

I had triple negative cancer last year.  I had 6 rounds of ACT chemo followed by a bilateral mastectomy and 37 rounds of radiation.  I also participated in the Cisplatin/PARP inhibitor trial.  My tumor was 5.1 cm and 2/14 nodes were positive.

During my tissue expansion, my plastic surgeon ordered a biopsy on a bump about 1 inch below my incision.  It came back as cancer.  It's considered a local recurrence but I have a PET scan today and a brain MRI on Thursday to make sure it hasn't spread.  We're awaiting further pathology to get info. on receptor status.

To say I'm anxious is an understatement.  I can't believe that I'm dealing with this already.  My last round of Cisplatin on the trial was Jan. 7 so I haven't even been out of treatment very long.

Since this is in my skin and I also have some red bumps in another area of my chest, does this mean that I probably have inflammatory breast cancer?  Also, does anyone know if they can radiate tissue that has already been radiated?

 I know that I'll get more answers from my medical oncologist on March 1.  Until then, I'll just try to keep calm.  Prayers to all of you going through the same situation.

DianeEE I was just wondering how you are? I notice that you did not get a response to your questions but I guess that's because you are in such an unusual position. As you can see by my signature, I am TN too. How is your treatment going and did they find a solution for the rash you were experiencing?
