I still have my port and I forget I have it actually--I get it flushed and I have it used alot for other things too, since neither one of my arms can be used. In fact I'm in the hospital right now and they are puting my meds thru the port--so easy for them and me.

It's funny. It hasn't bothered me at all for the first five months it was in (Jan-May). But just in the last week or so it's started bothering me. At least I HOPE it's the port.  It sort of feels like a pain radiating from the port up into the neck, vertically.

Like so many things, I think you'll find some are bothered by their ports and others aren't. I barely notice mine. Hope yours gets better. How long have you had it? Caryn

Thanks, Caryn. I've had it since January or maybe late December. It never bothered me at all. Now I have some discomfort but it's not in the chest, it's in the lower neck right above where the upper port scar is.

    Hmm.....

What brand port do you have? I hear people mention the actual port , under skin on their chest, and then a scar on their lower neck. My port (Bard power port) is very far to the right side of my chest, a tank top strap easily hides it, and there is one tiny scar to the left of it. Nothing on my neck. I've had it since late Oct. 2011. Caryn

Yes, I have a Power Port. It's above the left breast on the chest. But there is a scar several inches above it at the base of my neck.

I know I needed it but I hated it and was so glad when I got it out. It hurt everyday. It felt like it was sitting on a nerve or something. My onc said to keep it in for a month after chemo I had it taken out 31 days after chemo.

I was always aware of my port, but for the most part was glad I had it.  Sometimes it would get achy or I would experience a tugging in my neck....mine was located in the middle/left area of my chest and I had another small incision where they put it into the vein in my neck

I can feel my port and the tube, it doesn't hurt but I don't like it and will be so glad to have it out. I do like how easy it has made treatment go.

I hated my port for a very long time.  It took almost a year to get used to it, no joke.  I hated that I couldn't sleep on that side very comfortably, i was always aware of it, worried i'd move it.  I HATED IT.  Then, I LOVED IT.  once it really settled in, it made life so much easier.  I hope your port 'settles' as mine did, actually, i hope you're done with treatment soon, get that thing outta there and make it a distant memory ((HUGS))

My port bothered me somewhat when I was in active treatment. It is brad port just above left boob/foob and only one scar.

I still have it & it only bothers me occasionally now. It has bothered me a little more so since I had my reconstruction last August. Most of the time I forget I have it, but glad that I do since I can't have needle sticks in either arm.
