I have lymphedema, worse in the trunk area, but also in my right arm.  We've be doing mld, I have a swell spot I use at night, and we are waiting for my sleeve to come in.  Anyway this morning I have a small red spot about the size of a pencil eraser on my arm midway between my elbow and shoulder.  It's not a mosquito bite because their isn't the typical bump, but not a lot bigger than that.  It's seems silly to worry about something so tiny, but I figured I ask you ladies for your opinion before I either ignore it or head down to urgent care...

Thanks!

Wait for Binney and Kira to reply: they are the experts!

In the meantime, circle the red area with a pen so you can tell if it grows. The usual odd mark on oneself is not a cause for alarm, but mark that does raise a red flag:

    - would grow in redness and/or size

    - feel hot

    - be accompanied by fever, feeling allover cruddy, or itching
    - generate red streaks

You are trying to find out iof it is an infection your body will not clear. Those signs will indicate a progression of some kind. Everyone is different. I have had big bites that did nothing and were fine. I have also had cellulitis w/o any identifiable cause. When I personally have a red spot from the unknown, I do not do MLD as it can help something spread. I wait to see if it is going to " become" something...
