Kijiberty........Thanks! It's the only one I could get to upload to my avatar.

Fierro - the red-hot face is caused by the steroid. It should get better a couple of days after you stop taking it. Sandik and I remarked on ours too. I have mild rosacea and it really gets lit up by that medication.
Tweetyb, boo on more chemo! I don't finish mine until the end of September so I'll.be around awhile too!
Melrose, oh, yeah, I'm not going anywhere soon! I'm glad we've come this far. :-)
Nofear, sending hugs your way.
Rgina, lol, Dallas was our Friday entertainment when we were broke young newlyweds. We are checking out ths reprise too. -
Hey all! Just a short note to let you know that I finished my last TCH today and all went well! I will catch up on all the new posts tomorrow - long day today and tired tonight, but happy to be moving forward. Now time to deal with the next crappy couple of weeks, then weekly herceptin for a year, and Tamoxifen starts in a month or two for 5 years. So glad to me moving forward!

Dancetrancer - woohoo!

Dance...Fantastic!!! So happy you have this part behind you!!!
Tweety...Grrr...how frustrating...but good news that the tumor is shrinking.

Wishing everyone who has been in the BGC this week or gonna be an easy time of it with minimal SE's
-
Indigo - Thanks. I figured it was a med, but wasn't sure which. I got so many before/during infusion, and then I'm taking the steriods and stopped by for Neulasta...SHEESH! Whatever happened to "Say 'NO' to drugs!"?
dancetrancer - That is awesome! It gives me hope to see anyone move past a stage, since I've just started on this side of it all. Congrats, and I hope you sleep well.
FightingLikeAGirl - Thoughts with you in the BGC and reaching halfway, too!

Fightinglikeagirl: Will be thinking of you today!
Indigo and Rgina: LOL about Dallas. I completely forgot it was on last night. How was it? Yeah, that was our big Friday night enterntainment as poor newlyweds.

Rose d. You're being treated at Sloan kettering? You can't do any better. I'm glad taxol is easier for you....me too!
-
Yeah Dancetrancer! Happy for you! Hang in
-
Yeah dancer what a relief. Not far behind u.
I am feeling better. Started taking my lexapro. I know it will take a while for full effect but just having it decreases my anxiety. I am starting to feel like a fighter now not a scared little girl. I have a long ways to go but I am break ing forward. Thank u for all yur well wishes, keep pushing forward & u will get thru this. -
mistym, thank you: I am going gaming tonight with my hubby, which will take my mind off the BGC tomorrow. At least while I'm playing.
Got in touch with my nurse navigator (whom I do not like) and she informed me that my MO gives anti-nausea meds with chemo infusion, so I do not need to take zofran or compazine until later, PRN.
Starting to drink H2O now so I will be well hydrated for the morning.
kjiberty, LOVE the new pic!
Dance, congratulations!!
nance, glad you are feeling better.
To all the rest of you beautiful ladies; more later and I hope you have a SPECTACULAR day!

Funny, am I the only one here without a port? My doc said for my four treatments (and weekly blood tests) I would do fine without it.I am coming up to my last one next week and have not had any problems with IVs or blood draws, hope I make it through like that. I was worried but I guess it turned out OK. Claritin: I take it for allergies and I still ache from Neulasta but maybe I would have ached more.
Have had a pretty good 4-5 days! the other rounds I didn't notice a big difference between week 1,2 and 3, but this time I did. Nice. I am now worrying that there is a different chemo that they might be using now for BRCA cancers, but it's not one I got- carboplatin. I got TC. So did I do this wrong? My sister has BRCA and she had AC/Taxol 6 years ago. And is here and healthy. Whatever. I DONT want to do this again.
Sleep: always a problem. Started during menopause 6 yrs ago, settled down, amped up with chemo. I use .5 ambien sometimes in the middle of the night to get me 3 hours or so: sometimes an Ativan 10 in the evening will get me relaxed enough to sleep all night. Actualy had one night of sleep this week with no aids, I was so stoked!
Next week Tues I see PT for first time, BS first time in 3 mos, blood draw, and then onc and LAST chemo on Weds, shot Thurs. They keep ya busy. Hugs to all, those in the big girl chair this week and those wrestling with SEs. May the days be mosty problem-free and a little bit fun.

Lisa: I am on the same regime as your and DO NOT have a port. I am a week behind you. With that being said, it took 7 sticks for tx x 3. They said if they didn't get it on the 7th try, they were going to do a port. I was pleading for them not to as I only had on more treatment. 7th times was a charm. I hope it goes more smoothly the final time. I have not had the BRCA test. My chemo regime was based on my Oncotype score of 27. I have had sleep issues for the past 7 years. Take ambien (generic version), but I want to get off it. I was taking it only a couple times a week before my DX, but since then, it's almost nightly.
Vicki: Thank You and good luck tomorrow. I will keep you in my prayers.

Would someone refresh me on the when & how for the baking soda / salt rinses? I haven't done that yet. First session was yesterday. Should I be doing that everyday now?
By the way, Day 2 and feeling great! Of course, I do go in for my Neulasta shot in about an hour so I'm hoping that works out OK. (Am going for Claridon too)
-
Gemmie: Haven't had to use it (yet), but I have been brushing and rinsing with Biotene and haven't had any major issues. Have you been doing that?
-
Dancetrainer, Awesome news. Happy for you.
Tweetyb, So sorry. Hang tough! And,as FightingLikeaGirl said, at least tumore is shrinking!
Vickilinn, Day 2 and I still feel great!
Good luck to you tomorrow. Will be thinking of you.

Last night I had a crying spell which I know was therapeutic for me. I was in bed with my 4 pillows trying to go to sleep when i became overwhelmed by the "constant and continued" discomfort. I use all the pillows because I had the ALND and my surgery arm is more comfy propped on one, I use two for my head and one for the left arm to balance things out. My arm was hurting from the aspiration, my head was uncomfortable on my pillow from the baldness and a hot flash, I had slight heartburn, was constipated and was having cramps, and slight nausea. No one symptom/discomfort was very bad. I took meds for all but felt tears coming from frustration and let them pour. I realized I had been uncomfortable in some small way since my surgery Mar 5th. I had the lumpectomy, but the full ALND is a long recovery process. I missed being "unaware" of my body.
I just boo-hooed and it felt good. My sweet husband beside me slept through my tossing and turning, getting up to get meds and go to the b room etc. But the moment i cried aloud he awoke and consoled me.
GOSH I needed that. I soon fell asleep. Just another day in the life of...

Gemmie -I do baking soda rinse four times a day and brush my teeth and tongue as much as I can tolerate and stomach with ultra soft brush from the first day after chemo for the next two weeks. I have not had any problems with thrush or need for nystatin or magic rinse. Good luck.....
My bloodwork is a go for my last chemo tomorrow:)
Wishing everyone a comfortable day - sending lots of healing thoughts. vjm
-
Lisa2012 - I don't have a port either. So far so good through 3. vjm

Hi ladies,
Dancetrancer.....WooHoo
I just got home from the hospital and the port installation went well. I was awake for the procedure and didn't feel a thing. I'm sure I will feel some pain once the freezing wears off but it will be worth it it the long run. Just feeling pretty tired right now and going to rest for a bit. Time for me to get some strength back so that I am ready for round 2 on Tuesday.
Big hugs to everyone,
Misty

So after typing a whole epistle...it gets lost in cyber space...
Hope every is doing well with minimal side effects...and wing everyone bright days ahead.
Will update you guys shortly on the last 2 weeks...been very very eventful -
Stacie: good for you for being proactive! Exercise is an awesome thing to do (even when you don't feel like it!). I was actually part of an Australian research study following breast cancer patients after they had finished treatment - those who exercised regularly (like at a gym or a class) definitely fared better than those who didn't. Glad you're moving through the "hit by a truck" stage (not nice, is it?) and moving into the "being well" category - I do wish you luck, lots of it! And hugs.
