tiny lung nodule

I completed my radiotherapy on 16th August 2011.  Prior to that had full chemo followed by lumpectomy.  Everything went well but a scan (contrast) taken in November 2011 showed a tiny nodule in the base of the right lung (same side as breast cancer).  A scan prior to chemo that was NOT contrast scan did not show any nodule.  They booked a repeat contrast scan after 6 months which was carried out yesterday (1st May 2012).  I am awaiting to see my oncologist  on 15th May to know the result.  This was CT scan of chest, abdomen and pelvis.

It would be great to hear of any experiences regarding this.  Could the nodule be a spread in the lung?  Chance of more spread?

Thank you,

 abcd

A CT scan found a nodule in my wife's lung. They decided it was from an old valley fever infection...something very common in the US desert southwest.

My CT scan w/contrast showed a small nodule at the base of my right lung but the doctor said it was probaly due to being recently sick. He didn't even tell me about it, I found out from nosing through my medical records.

They found a spot on one of my friends presurgical xrays and then did a ct scan. The doctor mentioned that follow up scans could be done in 6 months to see if there is any growth but that now with  tests being so "clear" a lot of people have some sort of spots or nodules that are " innocent" from old bronchitis infections, etc. That was 5 years ago. My friend never followed up on it and has had no issues since. Prayers that your's is innocent as well.

I had the same issue and am still being watched. I had  a cough, heaviness in my chest and they did a CT, found a 3cm x6cm spiculated lesion along the edge of my lung. They are watching and measuring every 6 months. So far no change so they think its from radiation. I also have a pet scan, suv of 3.7 I recall.

I hope its nothing of worry for you but from the experience I am having it seems they are following the same protocol.  Good luck and sending you prayers for strenght as you go through this.

Sister had a carcinoid on her lung which was picked up by the CT scan. The drs elected not to do anything until after her MX. They did a lung biopsy which didnt feel good and the Path report revealed it had probably been there 20 years. They decided to remove it and she is fine. It is also something common from living in the South. Go figure.

Just started chemo for stage 2 breast cancer and met with my oncologist today to go over results of cat scan. It showed 10 small (less than 4mm) nodules in both lungs. Shes questioning whether I had pneumonia or other kind of bronchial issues. Lymph nodes around the lungs were clear and normal. She's going to recheck after chemo is done in April to see if they shrank or stayed the same. Hoping its scar tissue from bronchitis...
