@Fierro - I'll be with you in spirit Tuesday.  You'll be ok.  really.  I know lots of people tell us that but they don't really know.  Chemo itself for me was pretty uneventful (no allergic reactions) and the day after I felt like super woman! haha!!  then the darn meds wore off!  5-7 days of feeling icky after that and you know from being on here that everyone is different and each round is different so it's hard to know what side effects you'll have. But there are lots of great meds and these ladies know all the tricks so they'll help you thru it.  Is it ok if you don't work the week after?  Maybe a silly question but I'm in sales so no work = no pay.

rgina - the fallout is WAY worse then just being bald!  (except for the draft on the back on your naked neck!) :)

rgina, the 15th is my first tx.  I am on taxotere and carboplatin.  I took the day off, knowing it will be a LONG day.  I will be getting Herceptin also.  I was always a big Dr. Pepper fan (NOT Mr. Pibb or any other knock off, but Dr Pepper), then started drinking Dr Pepper 10 when I went on WW to lose weight.  Now, since the first surgery, I have become a tea drinker.  Just Lipton made in my ice tea machine.  But, I drink tea or water; I've had almost now soda since April.

Thanks for the info on the alcohol.  Sounds like I would be safe with a glass tomorrow night.  Maybe make sure to drink a lot of water as well so I don't get dehydrated.  Thanks girls...hope everyone has a SE's free weekend.

Hi fighting like a girl....on the wine question. I love my wine and asked about drinking during my AC treatment...they told me I likely wouldn't want to but a little wine wasn't going to kill me LOL. Not with all the other stuff they are pumping in us....but they were right about not wanting it....nothing tastes the same...Until I start feeling better...then I did indulge.

As for having wine during taxol....which I just started...the nurse said not to drink alcohol for 72 hours after treatment because your liver is impacted by the taxol...working overtime.

Last night was my first day of vacation without an adult beverage....but my 72 hours is up tonight....and frankly, I deserve a glas of wine.

    Cheers ladies!

lsharvey822 - Not working isn't really an option.  My employer is amazing and has even been finding some projects that I can do from home (we don't typically have an option of working from home,) but the less I'm there, the smaller my check becomes, and we cannot survive on DHs check alone.  We CAN make it if I miss a day or two when I'm at my lowest.  I just can't take weeks off at a time.  I burned through all of my sick and vacation time when I had surgery.

It'll be OK, though.  We'll be married 17 years as of next weekend, and we've been through worse (financially.)  We're just putting our heads down and plowing ahead!  I feel like I've got my optimistic big-girl panties on today.  My three year old granddaughter is visiting, and it's like the fountain of youth!

silkuk52- I take regular 24 hour Claritin.  I took the Claritin this past Wednesday morning i got the shot ( got the shot 2pm) and take one every morning.  So far no bone pain.  I'll keep taking it until this coming Tuesday.

Silkuk52:  I take the claritan readitabs (24 hour) whe I get home from my infusion, the day of and 5 days after.  Just had my second neulasta shot yesterday.  Hoping it goes PAINFREE like the first one.

Fighting like a girl:  My MO said none the night before.  I usually hold off until the third week and have a glass of white wine.  It's interesting because a few weeks ago when I was on the scale at the MO, there was a sign that said, "Ask us about a new study if you have weight loss and would like to drink white wine".  I was going to ask, but was so put off by the PA saying I couldn't have my chemo due to low platelets, I forgot to ask about it and now the sign is gone.

Vicki:  I love water and iced tea w/lemon.

Woke up today (day 3) with a sore throat.  Ugh!  Just done done rinsing.  Hopefully, it wil help.  Stay away THRUSH!

Rgina--am also thinking about shaving my head this weekend. Noticing it is coming out in little clumps when I run my hands through my hair...but feeling a bit anxious about doing the deed. My DH and I are sitting on the couch this morning debating whether to "just do it" or to wait a bit longer....

Ok...just took a shower, and came out covered in hairs...amazing how they don't end up in the shower, but just all over your body. Pretty gross actually...ok I guess that is the sign i needed...still anxious about doing the deed...

Doris:  My crash always begins day 3.  The nurse administering the chemo said it takes about 40 hours for the crash to really hit you.  Since this is my third round, I can attest to that.  Day 4 and 5--probably the worst for me.  Haven't really gotten off the couch, where I moved from the bed this a.m.  Coffee--ugh!  Doesn't sound good to me.  Just drinking cold water.  Had a small, 4 oz. container of cottage cheese w/pineapple for breakfast and a strawberry fruit pop to suck on.  My throat is sore.

JKBuffy:  Sounds like today is the day for you.  Just rejoice in it knowing you won't have to worry about all that hair falling out.  It's what helped me get through it.  My hair was so beautiful and thick.  I didn't cry a drop when it was shaved--it was something I knew I had to do.  Make it a happy day.  It's a sign the chemo is working!  Cool

JKBuffy-  You will know when the time is right for the hair.  Personally, I just got annoyed with the hairs everywhere.  That's when I made the little ponytails and snipped them off myself.  I kept those little pony tails to make a hair halo later if I want.  I felt so much better after I cut the hair myself.  My DH finished the rest of the haircut with a 1 inch cutting guard on the electric clippers I bought at Marshalls ($20.00).  Yes, the hair sitll fell out and I used a lint roller to pick it up off my clothes and pillows.  I didn't do the shave to the scalp because I wanted to see if all of my hair would fall out plus I couldn't handle the idea of shaving my head to the scalp.  In short, it is what you can handle and it's all good no matter what!!!!  HUGS to you!!!!

Fatigued and Sore day 11. Neulasta adds to it.

I'm still thinking about how to present my question to my onc About whether I am ER pos or neg. There are conflicting lab reports. he kind of sped over that when we were starting Onco folks say I am ER neg, test may not be valid. Onc says slide showed 30% pos.Probably ok since I would have had chemo either way (0nco 38 or triple neg)I am now worried about did he give me the RIGHT chemo and what about hormone therapy. Hate thinking I could be going through all this and it's not going to help me as much as it could. I have an appointment with him 6/20 before chemo and made another for a week later. Since he was the one who said he'd never seen that test discrepancy before I hope he's done some research. I just called the lab and talked to them, took notes. Maybe 2nd opinion or tumor board. Do NOT want additional chemo.

fierro66, I understand the need to work.  My job is the one that gives us health insurance, so I will be working during chemo.  I have about a week of EIB left; hoping to use that if I need a day off during chemo.  Actually, planning on NOT needing time off during chemo!  Laughing

Melrose, I had my daughter cut my hair pretty short after my mx.  This week, she is going to give me a Mohawk, a real, honest-to-goodness Mohawk which she will color PINK.  How many times in your adult working life do you have the opportunity to rock a Mohawk?  Then, after about a week, I will have her shave it off before it starts falling out.

JKBuffy - I think you are at the point where you will feel better if you "just do it."  I was there, too; freaked at shedding everywhere when I showered, and that was the last straw for me.  I didn't make a party of it (I love Vickilind's idea!), but my guys were all there for me.  DS#1 did the first buzz, and had to put up with my cringing and squirming.  DH did a cleanup job on me later.  We used a clipper with no guard; worst thing was the noise it makes, and without a guard it kept getting clogged They were all sweet and supportive; no double takes at the bald me or anything.  It sounds like your DH will be like that for you, too!

Vickilind - we got pea-sized hail that melted pretty fast here (I live in east/central Lakewood), and lucked out on the street flooding, but I could have done without the tornado warnings!  At least it didn't sound like anything touched down or did damage.  Pink Mohawk, lololol!  DS#2 is getting ready to go to Wyld Life camp (he's a leader to middle-school-age kids), and he has been letting his hair grow because he promised the kids he would shave it into a Mohawk for the camp.  I guess that will take place next week.

Babysammy, Oh, noooooo!  I am so sorry about all the chicken pox.  I hope they all get over it soon - and that *you've* had it already.  What a mess!  DH says he knows of some homeopathic remedies that can really help with chicken pox - if you are interested PM me and I'll share the details with you!  Otherwise, I am sending a big burst of purple energy to your household; that can't hurt either.

Hey ladies! I've been reading your posts the last few weeks. They are quite helpful! I had my 2nd round of TCH this past Tuesday. I have been so tired this week. I think partially from the nuelasta.

Regarding alcohol, I haven't drank much at all. Things just taste differently. However, we went camping last Saturday and I drank some beer. It was amazing! It felt so good to have a normal day and feel great!

WOW I have never had my chemo on a Fri before and have been enjoying a wonderful morning with hubby and FORGOT to get my neulasta shot and they are closed. It will have to be Monday 1st thing. I have had perfect blood work and sure hope this doesn't change things. Anyone ever have a delayed neulasta shot?

Ok y'all--its done! My stylist worked me in, and shaved it all off to a chipper disco soundtrack. I am told my head is nicely shaped--my DH came along and took lots of pictures. I am feeling ok...really happy that it is done...and feeling light and almost cute with my new look. Thanks for all the support and hugs--it means so much to know that I am not alone in this experience!

JK Buffy- Congrats on your courage. I felt better too! I ended the "dread". My long red hair has always been my trademark. So I was really upset awaiting it. No way was I going to grieve it one strand at a time. AMAZING how easy a shower or bath is!

@Fierro - me either on the not working front unfortunately.  the first week after the first round I was able to work quite a bit from home.  2nd round was a little tougher but I had it on Thurs so it was more of a long weekend (crappy weekend!).  Hope everything goes well for you.  I'll be thinking of you.

I get the impression the Neulasta comes with it's own set of SE's; I know my sister said she HATED the Neulasta.  She said it made her feel like her bones were on fire.  That was pretty descriptive and scarily so.

Isharvey, I will have to find a way to work, no matter what.  I have so little time left in my banks that work it will be.  My sister-in-law works with a lady who finished her tx in March;  she didn't even know this lady was going through it!  Don't know what she was taking, but hey, she was fortunate and then made it work.  That isn't always the case, I know.  I've said before, my sister really struggled with SE's the entire 6 rds, which were delayed two times due to low white cell counts.

Just nice to visit with all of you.

Hair is gone, gone!  Daughter finished my clipper cut a little bit ago.  She left just a little to see how long that would last or if I'd loose all of it - picture the GI Jane look:) Tonight I can sleep without eating hair - yeah!  She had a blast doing it, because for years even pre-BC for her she always shaved her head and I always bitched, so she was really enjoying it and I have to admit there were some pretty funny moments/laughs between us.  I'm totally good with this, one more thing scratched off the list.

@Vicki......After my first round I had bone pain on day 4 and 5 from the chemo (no Neulasta or Neupogen) then the following week my WBC's went extremely low so I got 2 injections of Neupogen. The first injection was severe pelvic/hip pain for about a day and a half. Round 2 they gave me Neulasta........I've had excruciating bone pain (mostly legs) for 3 days now. It's finally easing up. I tried the Claritin but don't really think it helped much. I don't know why some people get the severe bone pain and some don't. I honestly don't know if I can handle it 2 more times.
