ovarian ablation- chemical or surgical?

I have to make this decision asap. I am an estrogen factory in my peri state at age 43. I am having a mastectomy on the 19th and they can remove my ovaries then or I can get the zoladex but they say there is an initial flare of estro in the beginning, but I would be taking tamoxifen at that time. For those who you who have had an ovarian ablation of either kind, can you give me some feedback on your experience, and are you happy with your choice?

Thanks so much!

Michelle, I'd hate to see anyone rush into a decision like that just because they are going to be operating anyway.  A lot depends on your stage of cancer.  If you are early stage, tamoxifen alone could be all you need.  Many premenopausal women just do this.  If you are at a more advanced stage of cancer, than more drastic treatments, like removing ovaries, might make more sense.

Thanks I am stage 3 due to size -10 cm and at least 1-3 nodes. I won't know for sure how many nodes until after surgery. I've been in peri-state for the last 4-6 years already, bad fibroids, anemic from the bleeding off on on for 10 years. I have estrogen dominance and intense surges. I cannot handle the side effects from the tamox. The next stage is 4. I think its time for me to be drastic. I'm going with the surgery. Thanks for the feedback.
