I was on tamoxifen for about 2.5 years, then came off to get pregnant. Had my first baby, then went back on. I just stopped again to start trying for baby number 2. I was stage 3, er/pr+. I am now 5 years post diagnosis.

If you'd like, you can visit the Young Survival Coalition message board at www.youngsurvival.org to connect with lots of women who have stopped tamoxifen to have kids.

I'd say the two biggest things are to partner with your oncologist and discuss all your options, then be confident with the decision you choose. Good luck, I'd be happy to answer any specific questions for you!

Gemsa: did you have difficulty getting pregnant? I am on the same boat I was diagnosed with Stage 1 Breast Cancer/ Her 2 positive and been on tamoxifen for 3 years. Right now I want to stop my medication to get pregnant then hope to get back on it right away??

I am too in a similar position. I am 29 and just started taking tamoxifen. I was thinking of stopping in 3 years to try to have a baby. Has anyone's doctor told them they can stop a little earlier than 5 years, have a baby, and then go back on tamoxifen. That is what I am thinking of doing, but it is such a hard decision to make.

    Hi

I'm 38 diagnosed at 34. Tamoxifen and I are due to part ways December 2014. My best friend just had a baby and my neice (who is 2 years older than me) is having a baby in August. Needless to say, my "want to have a baby" emotions have been over the top. This has been something I've wanted for a very long time, long before breast cancer.

So I've been finding myself considering taking a vacation from Tamoxifen...

A while ago my onco told me that she was cool with me having a baby after Tamoxifen. I'm not sure how she'd feel if I stopped it like now and started trying to get pregnant in September or October.

Man these emotions sure do kick your ass!

You ladies are the first to hear what's going on in my head.

    What advice can you give?

Thanks and much love to my sisters!

    Hi Klawless9,

You are not on your own! There are lots of ladies out there facing the same issues as you and we can all empathise. I'd really recommend looking at this thread: http://community.breastcancer.org/forum/27/topic/763924?page=14#post_3695322

It can be really helpful to read the decisions other people have made in a similar situation and there are some useful resources posted on there too.

    Good luck x
