7 YEARS OUT!!

To all my her 2 sisters:

It's been 7 years since my Biopsy.

I had hideous prognosticators; 12 pos nodes 2 of which were totally replaced by tumor, lymph and vascular invasion, lobes involved, paget's of nipple, NO clear margins after mastectomy , and oh yeah for the icing on the cake ; er /pr neg, and Her2 Positve!! Blah, blah, blah, blah......

I am a nurse and the only thing  my poor  onc could do was hand me the  path report to read and hold my hand.

I responded with " Oh Sh*t, Oh Sh*t, Oh Sh*t" etc, etc, etc.

Definitely not a good day, but  ultimately a HUGE life changer

Fast forward:

I am healthy, living the life. enjoying a new  Granddaughter, richer relationships, living in Paradise SmileLaughing   and truly living large!!

I have dedicated my "New Life" to providing assistance to women with  this disease. I know I am blessed to be doing this, as BC has coursed through the veins of all my maternal family.

I have learned that if we don't grab onto the Day's joys , we  wil never get them back; When I was dxed 5 family members cried that I would die before them; They are all gone and I am still here.

I thank God everyday for everyday , and always have a good belly laugh as well!

There is so  much joy  in the future especially when the future is not so certain!

    lkc,

I loved your post and your positive spirit.

It's been four years for me since diagnosis. I go tomorrow for my mammogram, and I'm feeling calm and optimistic. It can be an uphill climb to reclaim a happy life after this THING, but, as you so rightly point out, if we don't grab onto the day's joys, we never get them back. This looks and feels different for everyone, but the essential truth is the same.

Thanks for sharing your experience! And congratulations for being seven years NED.
