Not sure where I belong?

I just got my Path report today from my Partial Mastectomy on 5/22.  DCIS w/lobular cancerization. Tumor size, 2.8 cm, Cribiform & Comedo Necrosis.  Grade 2-3/3.  Necrosis at FNB was less than 30% & now at surgery biopsy 2 weeks later is in 80% of spaces.  Microinvasion: in 2-3 foci of Microinvasion each measures less than 1 mm.  Also a foci of pseudo invasion within an area of the previous biopsy site.  Margins are CLEAR!  ER- & PR-....waiting on the Her2 testing to come back.  Possible Triple Neg DX.  Nodes 0/2... B9!  Pathologic tumor stage:  pT1mi N0  Additional findings:  Post biopsy changes.

I am on a fence & not sure where to go here!  Sigh....This all started with Pain, then AH, to DCIS & more!  I never have been normal Wink (meaning it's always weird things that happen to me & my family)  why should I start being "normal" with my BC!  Sorry but the Humor keeps me going!  I just want to do the best as a Grandma of 2 Grandson's at 45!

Sorry to hear about the results julz.  Microinvasion, sometimes written as DCIS-MI automatically bumps you up to IDC, Stage 1, cancer.

Very sorry to hear about your results and am praying for you -  You said this all started with pain?  Can you please explain that to me.  I have an appointment for a surgical consultation tomorrow afternoon after a Birads 3 mammogram and normal ultrasound about 2 months ago.  First they stated 6 month followup and a couple weeks later here I am, to see a surgeon tomorrow.  I have swelling in the armpit area (for about 6 months now), tenderness in upper outter quadrant of breast on same side (right) and awoke this morning with pain on the inside of my breast very close to chest wall, outter sternum area of same breast.  I thought I felt a very small lump there last evening that was a bit to tender to touch and this morning it was definitely something I noticed.

Rachel....I came here 4 years ago because of micro calcification's that were found in my yearly mammo & a lot of waiting for answers. I had a Stereo-tactic Core Needle Biopsy & all was benign.  I had 2 spots of the Micro Cals real close side by side.  My BS could only biopsy the one as the other couldn't be seen clearly.  So we watched the others closely for a year.  Then 2 months after the biopsy I felt a small lump on the same side (LEFT) on the outer side of the breast with a little achyness.  The BS checked it out & did a Mammo/US & found fibrocystic changes.  No mass nothing in either.  So as the years have gone by nothing has been seen & occasionally I get an ACHY feeling in the same area as before, it comes & goes.  A year ago at my Mammo I told my BS about the Achy feeling I had been getting as it just seemed to be More, but mind you not every day just once in a while but More so.  He told me to keep a close watch.  But again nothing was seen on my Mammo.  Then about 4 months ago the Achyness was more starting to hurt as I would rub it to ease the discomfort.  Also while at work (I work nights as a CNA) I would have intense deep itching in my LEFT breast!  It happened on a few occasions.  I blew it off as but noted it in the back of my mind.  During this time my second Grandson was born 11 weeks premature with Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia & given a less than 1% chance of surviving.  He is a Miracle & now is home doing very well!  During all that turmoil about 3 months ago I started having Pain at my biopsy site 4 years prior it would really hurt.  After about 2 days of increasing pain I went & looked at my breast on a Saturday & saw that 1/2 my left nipple was red & had lots of little bumps under it.  Then the alarm bells went off in my head with the achyness & itching.  I made an appt. with my GYN on Monday, by then the redness & bumps went away.  Still I had a discomfort at the nipple.  I was sent for a Diagnostic Mammo & US on Wednesday where they found my Mass on the Mammo.  The US said in same spot a complex cyst of 9.9mm.  From there I went back to my BS who is an Hour from my home.  After tests & not thinking it was much, but my BS only rely's on a biopsy to know for sure.  We all got a surprise.  But I will tell you this....for years I always thought in my gut that there was something about that exact spot on my Mammo that didn't seem right to me.  That spot where the mass is has a lot of crossed road veins...like an intersection of them that come together.

Wow....I got typing & it's really long.  But it's the best way to describe it.  I've never been crazy checking my breasts every minute, just aware of things that didn't seem right.  I check them out as I see the need.  Had I not had the red nipple or no other changes I might not of found all this out till my yearly Mammo some time the end of June beginning of July!  Divine Intervention!  Saved by my red nipple!

Blinthedesert....Thank You!  I had no idea!  It seems more & more like I will be getting Chemo.  But then I would rather hit it with all guns as this stuff is nasty.  Appears by my 2 Path reports 2 weeks apart to be moving quickly!  Especially if it ends up being Triple Neg!  I see the RAD Onc tomorrow.  Hopefully will know more then...still I have to wait for other testing to come back & be done!  Thanks so much again!

Julz, not all stage 1 women get chemo -- so let's hope you will be one of the lucky ones!  Good luck.

BLinthedesert...I know they are waiting for the Her2 & maybe other testing to decide.  As the micro invasion was .1mm.  What ever it needs....I can do!  Trying to be positive!  One step at a time!  In the midst of CHAOS!  Thanks Again!

There is a section on breastcancer.org called Micro-invasive DCIS that is HER2 positive. Even though you don't know your Her status, I am sure you could post there, since even the smallest invasion is not always treated as DCIS, although sometimes it doesn't change the treatment plan.

    I wish you the best.
