Dobie, I am so sorry to hear they found ILC.  You poor thing, I know that is really disheartening.  All the things you mentioned, like the very small size, the negative nodes, those are really good things.  But still, it's not what you wanted to hear and I get that.

Was the all the 4cm of LCIS of the pleomorphic type?  I had PLCIS and had bilateral MX in view of that plus my unlovely family history.  I have never looked back and all is well so far.  I am glad I did the surgery.

Please update on the next steps you will take.  I hope you get some decent rest as you deserve it (((hugs)))

Thanks for your thoughts and wishes. I do feel better today. Slept well. They will present my case at the hospital breast tumor board on Thursday. I will see what they recommend. There is no real urgency to deciding. I will take my time and just concentrate on healing right now. Onward and upward...!

Great! So glad things are in motion for you, and the day looked brighter this morning.

Some women have a little anti anxiety med tucked away during this time of gathering information and formulating a plan.

This may not be necessary at all, but if it is, a little help to smooth out the edges for just a little while can be helpful.

Thanks, M. Anxiety generally has not been an issue for me for the 5 years I have been gathering info and formulating a plan or should I say reformulating the plan. I honestly did not think of my BC all that often. That's one reason why a BMX was not my choice and I chose not to take Tamoxifen. My concern about Tami side effects outweighed my anxiety about reoccurrence. I can easily live with a certain amount of risk, have easy access to health care, and understand that my particular brand of this disease is not likely to cost me my life. Pity party over.

    Hey Dobie-

Just read your post of the results - - I'm so very sorry.  Dang it and damn.

Sounds like you've recovered your balance and showing a lot of grit.  Just know these gals on here are all with you -

Sending whatever support and hugs that can be sent thru this virtual sisterhood.  You're showing all how to be strong and pragmatic, but if you're ever feeling weak in the knees, you know where to come.  We can relate to the fear and frustration, but are also happy for positives, too -

    You're inspiring -

    Take care-

Feeling good. Have'nt heard back from tumor board and not even sure if they reviewed my case this week or will do it next week. I will see PS on Tuesday and see if she has update. Not feeling much anxiety about it now. Suspect same answer as before this last surgery- "You could do this or that but it's up to you, because we don't have the data to support that any one thing is better than another" Not ready to do much about it now anyway. I have a plan in my head- Oncologist appoint next week, start Tamoxifen, ask for MRI on left breast to help assure nothing is brewing there. If not, then concentrate on healing and consider whether I want/ need more surgery In a year or so, but after my daughter's wedding next June 2013 Hopefully this plan holds.

Ok. Just back from visit with PS, 12 days post op rt NSMX. Healing fine. Drain not quite ready to come out. Nuts! But don't want to rush it then end up with a problem so I will be patient a couple more days. PS says tumor board recommends nipple come off. Nuts, again! Will do that in about 6 months. Such is life with BC. No new recommendations for left breast. Tami and monitoring.

Thinking about you, Dobie. I know you would like ton know something more definitive. I'm sorry about the nipple. . .is that a for sure thing?

From what I understand, you'll feel like a new person when the drains come out. Hope that's soon!

    Thks for the update!

Well, for sure they recommend that the nipple come off so I will probably go ahead with it. It is not a complicated procedure and has a short down time. It's just the emotional attachment to the nipple. It may sound silly but , although I have small breasts, I have always had awesome nipples. They are what gives my breasts their personality, so I feel sad it has to go. I know they can reconstruct a nipple, but it wont look like mine. Initially PS started talking about how, since I have such prominent nipples she could probably take some tissue from one nipple and recontruct the other nipple. I must have looked somewhat aghast so she stopped and said, " Well, we can talk about that later." I ' m not going to think about that prospect right now. I just need to heal from this surgery and get this #%*& drain out. I might consider letting the right breast share a nipple with the left, if I get a PMX for left breast. Who would have ever thought, in their entire life, they would ever have to consider such an absurd prospect!

Saw MO today. Rx for Arimidex and plans for MRI in September for monitoring of left breast. I asked for an Oncotype Dx since they routinely do not do that. It won't change my treatment recommendations but I told MO that I cannot ignore the option of a PMX for left breast and Oncotype will either reassure me about not having one or validate my decision to go ahead with one. Thanks for your thoughts Annievan. Onward and upward.

Dobie - It is weird thinking about creating a new body part, especially when you liked the original!  You'll feel better once the drain is out, but it's good not to rush it.  I know what you mean about the drain.  I had four drains after my BMX and I hated having them.  When the last two wouldn't stop draining, it got me down and was the cause of a crying jag.  I had not been too emotional up to that point.  It was a happy day when I got them out!  I didn't have drains after the tissue expander removal/inplant insertion surgery.  I was SO glad.

Hang in there, girl!  We're still thinking of you!  Take care!
