Chemo curls can they be banished with keratin treatments safely?
My old lady frizzy hair is driving me nuts! I still get a shock when I look in the mirror. I don't want to do this if it is dangerous for my 9 month post chemo hair. Does any one have any experience of this?

Hi, I had my hair chemically straightened ten months after chemo, in February this year. The curls have not grown back yet. I think it is worthwhile but parts of the hair may become quite dry.

My chemo curls just faded away after a while. Yours might too.

I had my hair cut every two months (once I had hair). The curly frizzy ness gradually disappeared. Two years out from chemo my hair is almost normal. I am keeping it short for now. But there are no tell tale chemo curls.
So you could just wait. Or alternatively try whatever. You have survived no hair, if the results of trying to rid yourself of chemo curls suck, you can always start over. After all you survived baldness once........ -
And here I am bemoaning the LOSS of my chemo curls ... i used natural gel in my hair to give them some definition and style - I had soooo many compliments on them, really miss them now! They did grow out and now I keep it fairly short to still be able to use gel and get some lift. I also 'came out' with full grey/white hair (colored it for years, more peeps shocked at white hair than no hair at first! lol) As that grew out, the back turned quite dark and I put dark streaks on top to match (and then had another go-round with cancer/hair loss few years later) and this time it came back with curls again and a nice mix of dark and white/grey and still get compliments on the color. We all have a love/hate relationship with our hair no matter what, eh?
Hugs from Canada,
Patti

I am 7 months post chemo and have about 3 inches of chemo-fro hair. It has been making me nuts, absolutely unmanageable. I just had the Copolla treatment done today. What a huge difference. Just make sure you go to a reputable salon AND most importantly that they use a formaldehyde free formula.

I didn't have chemo "curls", I had chemo "kinks". So ugly. My hair has grown completely out now but I still have squigly sections that weren't there before. The Keratin treatments have been a life saver for me! Much healthier for your hair than the other chemical treatments and very effective. I say...do it!
