Pregnancy after Stage IV diagnosis

It really is amazing. I'm loving all the names you have picked, with the exception of Flannery maybe. It reminds me of the Simpsons. My sister had a baby girl on Thursday. She is adorable. I was thinking of you and your precious little bundle when I saw her.

I have stage IV breast cancer (bones) and have been living with it for 2 years now. A week ago today, I had my routine scans done and on Tuesday I was notified by my oncologist that my scans showed no progression and/or activity, but that I was pregnant. I immediately had to stop treatment (Xeloda and Desonumab), which has worked in my favor for the last 8 mths.  I am 33 yrs old, and I have a 3 yr old. When I was diagnosed in 2010, my son was 18 mths old and I was told that my chances of ever having anymore children were slim to none. I accepted this and decided against seeing a fertility doctor and here I am 2 yrs later pregnant, which I wasn't expecting:-). I'm not sure how far along I am because I've had irrregular periods for a long time now, but I'm assuming that I'm at least 8 or 9 wks. I will find out for sure on next Tuesday, and soon will have to decide whether to continue this pregnancy and discontinue my treatment for the time being or to terminate it. Since living with cancer, one of my biggest fears has been the thought of not being here to see my son grow up and I struggle with this issue everyday. I hope that I've been at least comforting to you by letting you know that I'm going through what you're going through, but as far as advice, I don't have any but to just pray. To all you pregnant ladies ... I am tingling with joy for you! I will keep you all in my prayers continuously. Jejik, you name that little girl whatever you want and don't worry about mom or anyone else thinking the name is weird. I liked all of your names except I don't know how to pronounce Rhiannon or Ione so those might be tough for teachers, etc. So much to think about when naming a baby. We adopted and two of our three were foster children who came with names so I didn't have a choice. I remember when you first told us you were pregnant ... how overjoyed we all were for you. So glad for your good "liver" news. Life is good.

I had seizures and had to deliver the baby at 28 weeks at ER. He's doing ok for now. Please contact the doc seeing you so you can be taken care of b4 and be put on bed rest.

DHA, I will say a prayer for u and ur new bundle of joy, that God will keep you guys safe.

I will have chemo soon....I am really suffering because I can't walk. Would love to be able to be mobile. BC spread to other parts too. You are lucky , your baby is full term already.

I know someone who is metastatic and discovered she was pregnant at 4 months and going through with the pregnancy.  I know another person who is newly pregnant while on treatment for metastatic breast cancer and has to make a decision on what to do with the pregnancy in the next few weeks.

How are you doing?  Have you heard from any other women dealing with Stage 4 and a pregnancy and birth?
