If anyone is involved in these kind of studies, would love to know. Heard this on NPR.

That doesn't surprise me...but I also thought I heard that the statistic includes very minor things...like adding fat grafting to fill in a divet.

I want to get that book, she was a guest on Terry Gross. I have to go back to the archives and listen again, I was driving. Yes, I think you're right about minor things, but so many go back for major surgery. I said no to recon when I saw the video at the PS office. Almost ran out of the office. :} I'm so glad I did.

They showed you a video at the PS office?  I'm glad mine didn't.  I might have ran too!

Though I do happen to be one of the lucky ones, I guess, since my reconstruction was pretty uneventful.  I had nipple sparing, didn't really go bigger than before, and the scars are very faded so it's been easy to move on.  I have heard plenty of poor/difficult outcomes though.

Hi Ladies, I just wanted you all to know that you are posting in the forum for women are living WITHOUT reconstruction or are stuck in limbo and living without breasts until their reconstruction. Either way it is for those living without breasts.

I think you would get more responses if you posted under the forum devoted to those that get reconstruction.

From what I could see, when I researched, recons done with nipple-sparing and/or skin sparing BMX tend to be the best looking ones.

Once you have advanced cancer and need extensive treatment, it starts getting more tricky, both in terms of how the results look and how likely it is to go well.
