New Jersey/NYC/CT/Eastern Pennsylvania ladies

dlm217--I am starting my RT at MSK in Basking Ridge around the same time.  As long as I heal well from the TRAM surgery.....I have Dr Schupak for my RO and maybe we will cross paths while taking this part of the journey   My big thing is post op being able to lie on my belly for the treatments.  There is always pain medicine if needed   I am determined to just make it through each leg with the least problems I can cause......I will just lay in whatever position needed and deal.....Will touch base on my time frame of treatment.

I'm in Jackson,NJ. I'm on AI treatment now, my first mammo since my lumpectomy will be in July. My breast surgeon is Debra Camal, RO was Oren Cahlon at Princeton Radiology Oncology, and my oncologist is Susan Greenberg. I feel blessed to have found such great doctors who are smart, talented and kind. They work well together, stay in touch with each other, answer all my questions and treat me with respect. No one should have to go through what we do, but it sure helps to have a great medical team

Hi, Ladies! I'm in Macungie, PA, in the Lehigh Valley near Allentown. I've been getting my treatments at the Morgan Cancer Center at the Lehigh Valley Hospital Center in Allentown. I LOVE my oncologists! My BS is Heiwon Chung, my RO is Alyson McIntosh and my MO is Usman Shah. Dr. Shah is a real sweetie! On my first appointment with him, I said I had done some research on-line, a fact that he probably hated to hear his patients say. But he said he liked his patients to become informed and be part of their treatment...not what I expected a physician to say but was very happy to hear!

I also have a great lymphedema specialist, Linda Boyle. I don't have LE, but she's been helpful in making sure I don't get it. I will finish my last rads on Monday, then start Arimidex. I just breezed through the rads, didn't even start to get pink until week 6, no discomfort or itching, just pink.

I'm VERY fortunate with my diagnosis...Stage 1, Grade 1, no node involvement. This is my first encounter with BC. There was only one person in my family previously diagnosed, an aunt who got her DX while in her mid 80's. I have 2 sisters, and I'm hoping I'm the "one off" in the family who will get this nasty disease! My brother is currently winning his battle with lymphoma.

Has anyone used the LE specialist at Overlook Hosp?  I don't think I have LE, but I do have mild swelling in both hands (I think it's related to regular old fluid retention).  I wanted to get fitted for a LE sleeve for flying.

Snoopsmom & Orangemat:  I've heard about scar massage, but not from my BS or PS.  Is the purpose of that to decrease tightness and entrapment related to the scar-tissue?  I've been putting Vit E on my sutureline.  It's healing nicely from TE exchange 4 wks ago.

I'm being treated in NYC, but come from way out on eastern Long Island. It's a bit of a haul and for chemo I have to stay in hotels, but I think it's worth it.

I'm going to Omni Therapy in Bloomfield tomorrow for a full LE evaluation, now that I'm a good two months post-op. I tried wearing a long sleeve shirt the other day and one sleeve felt way too tight on my arm and shoulder-blade/underarm/ribs area. Hopefully a couple visits will take care of things, just like they did last time.

My name is Sally and I'm from Connecticut. I was happily living the life of a professional clown when my left breast decided to assault me!  Tomorrow morning at 7:30 I go in for a double mastectomy. I'm very scared but would love to hang out in this group. Are there any other women in this group from Connecticut?

Hi Sally!  Welcome to the thread!  I hope you are healing nicely after your BMX.  I had mine in Oct, the recovery wasn't easy, but before you know it, the drains are out, your suture line is closed, and you are moving around more easily.  Wishing you an easy few weeks.  BTW, I used to live in Branford, CT. 

Hello Rose   Yuck, BC what a birthday present!  So sorry.  Wishing you all the best with your remaining txs.  I did my txs at Overlook Hosp, but got a 2nd opinion at MSK- great place.

About the summer get-together... it sounds great, but it's too soon to commit to anything yet.  July seems so far away...

Hi! Just came across this thread and it felt good to see some familiar places...I'm living in Somerville, just north of New Brunswick. Treatment at CINJ/RWJUH. You all sound like amazing ladies! Just wanted to introduce myself.

Hi!  This is a great thread.  I live in the Lehigh Valley, and get my treatment at the Morgan Cancer Center at LVH, as a few others here.  I started out elsewhere, but ended up hospitalized after my first chemo, and I met my current onc while in the hospital.  I was very impressed with him--Dr. Nair, and when I tell people who my onc is, they all agree that he is great.  He's always smiling, keeps up on the latest research, consults with many other professionals, and spends lots of time with his patients.  One time when I was with him, I started to feel guilty because I was afraid others were waiting and I was hogging up his time!  My experience with chemo, surgery, and radiation at Morgan has been very good.  The care is coordinated very well, and I have never had to wait too long (well, one time at radiation, the computers went down), everyone is friendly and supportive.
