Been fighting the whole wrapping scenario but need to learn it. Anyone know of good wrapping videos on YouTube or for purchase? I see several but wonder if anyone has used this sort of training and if there is a good one you would recommend.

Also - my therapist said the figure-8 is the best wrap method but I see videos of wrapping without figure-8. Thots on which is better and which is easier for self-wrapping?

Ohio, I found that I needed to be shown how to wrap by my LE therapist. She, personally, does not like the figure of 8 weave--she thinks it is hard on the bandages and tough to learn. I used to do it when I only wrapped to the elbow, now I just roll them on.

I had gotten the JoAnn Rovig DVD--it's old--on upper extremity self care, and didn't find her video too helpful. A good booklet is good for reminders, but the key is to do it in person.

My LE therapist favors just rolling on the bandages, and adding more layers to increase compression: there was a study and lower compression wraps did a better job in reducing swelling. I've had therapists wrap me too tightly and it hurts and it can actually damage lymphatics and trap fluid.

A good wrap doesn't hurt and you can move your wrist and touch your head.

Check out the booklet on this page:

Thank you very much. I have an appointment next week. My sisters are going with me and going to video the process also. Both sisters are RNs, the youngest is an oncology nurse and she is very interested in becoming a CLT. She wraps my hand and does a great job - I could wrap my hand but she enjoys it!
