Happy Mother's Day! I don't have children, but I love my Mommy and get to spend the day with her tomorrow! Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

kathyrnn,
May 9th posts.
Look for kitty cat.
I so hate this format!

Thank you for welcoming me to your group. I know I will find a home here. Just getting my feet wet, but will start becoming more active.

Best thing this week...actually several.
Had 6-month mammogram (my 2nd since tx finished) and ultrasound and it appears, unofficially, to be clear. Yay! Each visit (3 doctors every 3 months) seems to raise my anxiety more each time. Would think it would get better rather than worse. 15 months out since lumpectomy.
Also, had dinner with parents and middle child last night at Macaroni Grill. Mmmm, mmmm, good. Saw Dark Shadows with Johnny Depp (actually he was the star, I did not see it WITH him-I wish!) and it was fun. Not great, but fun. Chinese for lunch with youngest child (DS) and DH.
Grateful for my family, friends, and all you ladies on BCO. Don't post much here but read every day. So much inspiration from such great women. I know many of you don't think you are strong or brave; I know I cringed when others said that of me. We did (or are doing) what we had to do. But the way we do it can be a yardstick for others. Thanks to all of you for being that for me.

Hi Ladies
Beccad - so glad you were sprung!. Yep cancer sux.
Minixie - So sorry to read about your complications. Drink up that coke and go buy the lotto ticket.
LRM16 - thanks for the update. Does look hopeful and we could sure do with some good news on here right at this moment.
Kathyrnn - my hubby can be my 'bulldog friend'. Now just gotta stop the feeling of pins being stuck into my feet which started this morning. Yay for the end of treatment. Your mum sounds a real sweetie and you probably made the oxygen man's day. He won't mind coming back to deliver again!!.
Fighter - the 'F' word seems to be the only one I know at the moment. It just seems to sum things up right now.
Inmate - sending you lots of healing hugs for your drains. Hang in there.
Titan- Your 78 year old mum sounds like a real character. Would love to meet that lady.
Kathyrunn - Heather and Babs37 I believe are on Metformin.
Heather - So glad you are settling in well. Your DH and the dog babies will be with you before you know it. Hope you get both jobs then you can choose the right one for you.
LuvRVing - Congratulations on your youngest daughters graduation. Top of the class, no wonder you are proud.
LRM16 and Navymom - My heart goes out to both of you with the loss of your children. I can only imagine what you are feeling and even then it would never ever be enough. The pain, and heartbreaking loss must be devastating to both of you and I can only send you lots of love and peace especially today.
I expect you have heard on your news that there was a terrible accident here yesterday in NZ when 8 young American students were here on holiday and their vehicle crashed. Three of the students died and another is critically injured. I believe they were from the Boston area of the USA. This was made all the more poignant to me because of all my American friends that I have made through this site. My heart goes out to their family and friends on such a sad day.
Best thing that happened to me today was having a Mothers Day brunch with my two beloved daughters and their families and my dear hubby. Was just lovely and they are all coming to dinner tonight as well.
Thinking of you all and hoping you have a good, stress free and painless day. Annie

Hi SueRae..welcome to this thread and hope to hear from you often. we talk alot on here..you won't be alone..
Just reading your posts..Linda and Navy...made me realize how emotional Mom's day can be for all of us... even if some of us don't have kids..we all have a mom...I'm so thankful for my Mom and my kids...my son is coming home from school tomorrow.....I'm so glad he is coming...I told him he didn't have too but secretly I'm thrilled he is coming home and I can't wait to see him....I won't get to see my mom tomorrow (that's another story)..but I will see my MIL and my two kids....
Anyway...happy Mom's day to all the moms and daughters here. I plan to put f'ing cancer aside for the day (don't tell my kids I swear..lol)
-
Titan - I won't say a word to your kids promise
-
well friggit, now my face and neck has turned a lovely shade of red and is a bit puffy. do you think this requires an ER visit or just call the MO on duty? i just don't wanna do either but it is listed as a possible severe side effect. UGH!
-
Annie:
Thank you for your kind words.
Linda

May we all be surrounded by fond memories this Mother's Day.
-
Happy Mothers Day to all the mom's.
-
Happy Mother's day everyone. DD is still at college enjoying senior week - she graduates on Friday (OMG, I swear she was just looking at high schools), but we will be talking today.
Huskerkkc - congrats on the good results of your Mamo and songram

Hi Caroline, just saw your post and want to send support and hugs for your ct and mmr and meeting with radiologist. I also live in Ireland and found this forum so great as you dont come across many other people in ireland with Tn.I live near Ennis and am lucky to have a support centre near me but if I can be of any help I am here.
Each persons treatment is different and it is important to ask the questions and know your options but it will be hard for you to take everything in so it would be so helpful if someone comes with you to listen and ask.
Yes it is very scary but the treatment is do able and each time I got the chemo and radiotherapy I thought of it killing off all the bad stuff like one of those old computer games Pacman, gobbling up the cancer cells!
will be thinking of you

Good morning ladies!
Just a quick drive by to say Happy Mother's Day to all you beautiful ladies.
Big hugs to all who need one. I think of you all often, but haven't been on much. I am having trouble adjusting to being a working Mom! There just aren't enough hours in the day!! It has been difficult keeping up with all the year end school activities in both the school I work in and the schools that the kids go to (3 different ones total!). I am looking forward to summer break and will be able to catch up with you all.
Minxie- I am so sorry to hear of your recurrence. I am sending good thoughts and hope your treatment plan kicks ass!!
I'm off to a fancy lunch for Mom's Day!!
-
Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderfull moms on this thread.
-
Babs - a thousands thank you's! I have an appt with my PCP, and I'll have to have him up the dose.
Inmate - I am so sorry you had that reaction (like I said in a previous post, I've seen the reaction and it is terrifying. Can't imagine how scary it is to be the one having it). You made me laugh with the F word is your favorite swear. Mine too, and someday I'll tell you the very embarrassing story of how that came to be.
Cocker - I vote Aye for the Valium, but please not so much that you're out to lunch and can't tell them your having a reaction! ;-)
McCrimmon, I'm amazed you've gotten
moved and settled in this fast! Sorry you're missing your husband, but just imagine how much fun the reunion will be.
LuvRV - congrats on the PET. How soon will they post the final results on-line.
Mags - I chuckle when people tell I'm back to looking like my " old self". They haven't walked in our shoes, so they don't understand that old self doesn't exist any more. Some one just made that comment at a function, and a friend that just had renal ca, leaned over and whispered in my ear, " thank God they don't have to understand what it's like to sit on a ticking time bomb"
LRM - what a wonderful thoughtful post. Wishing you happiness on this bittersweet day and my Mom and I will light a candle for Tiffany (please God don't let my chemo brain name loss have kicked in right now). My Mom lost my brother, so this day is hard for her too.
NavyMom - blessings to you on this bittersweet day also.
SueRae - welcome to the group, it's a wonderful source of support.
Happy Mother's Day to all!!!!!! -
Kathyrunn - looking forward to hearing about your NEXT embarrassing situation if it is anything as good as Oxygen Man. Annie
Heather - good luck at your interviews todaya.
-
Hi there, Gals and Happy Mothers day to all. Appreciate your sweet thoughts Annie amd Kathrynn.
Here in the midwest we are having a beautiful day. Sunny with a breeze. Awaiting my parents and my Sister to arrive. Dh is cooking on the grill for us.
Best thing today: Cut purple iris flowers and daisies from my yard. Thinking of Suze, Laura and Mary.

Hi all,
I've been in the hospital since late Thursday night and I don't expect to get out until Wednesday or Thursday. It's started last Monday night with chills and a fever. Went in for blood work at the ONC and it came up with nothing. Wednesday continued with a fever so they sent out an antibiotic leviqun. I started having a cough where I couldn't catch my breath and it was starting to freak me out. My ONC sent me to ER on Thursday night. They determined I needed to be admitted. Had a CT scan done, surprise it showed pneumonia! They didn't like the look of my lungs so they took some samples yesterday, but the doctor was 99% sure it isn't cancer. I'm scared to death.
I'm just venting and need some encouragement. My family doesn't really now how I'm feeling.
Thanks everyone and have a great mothers day. I did get to enjoy my girls coming to see me today. -
Lisadi - try to relax. ( I was gonna say take a deep breath, but I didn't know if you would understand I was saying it tongue in cheek). I went to your last post, and if I have the math correct, you're still getting AC? It would be stupid to tell you not to be scared, but the pneumonia is probably related to your compromised immune system, and your doctor is just being very thorough and making sure every base is covered. Vent away anytime, that's what we're here for. Please feel better and make sure everyone coming into your room washes their hands!!'n
-
This is an amusing story I will share with y'all. Went to my Onc appt Monday before infusion. As usual, my husband waited in the outer room. I saw the Onc and went into the chemo lab, and the nurse looked tickled. She said my husband walked into the room and sat down by another patient and said "Oh, I guess you get to take your treatment today, huh?" (My ANC was too low the week before). The puzzled lady looked up at him, and it was only then he realized it wasn't me! They all got a good laugh about it. Obviously, he is not a very observant person. He couldn't have remembered what I had on if his life depended on it.....at any given time.
-
Lisa, So sorry you are having to spend mother's day in the hospital! I hope you will be feeling much better soon.
Happy Mother's Day to all you wonderful mothers!
-
Kathyrnn: you are so kind and thoughtful and I adore you. Yes, you got her name correct, and it warmed my heart greatly to see it written on this day of all days by someone other than me. It meant the world to me, and I know it did to her too. Thank you so very much.
Lisa: Stay strong, sweetie, and hang in there the best you can. I am so sorry this has hit you like it has. Hope they come up with answers and that it is just pneumonia. (I can't believe I am actually wishing pneumonia on anyone, but I think you know what I mean by it). Will be thinking of you and praying for a good recovery and that you are home soon.
Linda

Lisa healing vibes sent your way!
-
Linda and Navy- On this day, of all days, I hope you were able to enjoy the day and reflect on the joyous memories of your children. Both those still with you and those you have lost. My heart goes out to you both and I hope you can feel the gentle hug I am giving you.
-
Please say a prayer for my cousin's husband who they let fly to heaven early this morniing after fighting a 16 week battle with a rare form of cancer. He suffered so much in these last few weeks and we held on to the hope that a miracle might happen but yesterday his family decided to let him "go home".
I have my first mamogram almost one year post diagnosis. It is a tomographic mammogram. Has anyone had this?...nervous about it of course.
Haven't had a chance to read the board these past few days but will look when I am less sad.
-
Lisa, hoping your feeling better soon. Hubby just had a bad case of pnemonia. Some strong antibiotics will fix you up and you'll be out soon. Thinking of you.
-
Painting - I have sent my prayers for a divine flight for your cousin's husband to heaven. It is sad to hear about people suffering so badly in the end, I am sorry.
Linda - I hope you had a great mother's day, despite of your great loss, that you had moments to reflect upon your beautiful memories with your daughter. Memories is all we have left, no matter what the situation.
Merrinell - That was sure funny! These days I could probably do things like that, he is not alone.
Lisa - I am so sorry you are in the hospital. Hope you get out soon and I hope it is pneumonia. Doctor's are pretty correct, if they are saying that 99% it is not cancer, than I am certain it is not. Give us the good news very soon and take care.
I thought of Suze, Laurajane and Mary a whole lot this weekend and sent loving, sweet thoughts to their children. I hope god is watching over them and they are all doing okay.
Annie - that sounds like a horrible accident. I did not hear about it on our local news here in California. How sad!
I had an ultrasound of my thyroid last Friday - this was just one last test that was part of my neck pain situation although all my blood tests re: TSH, FSH stuff was okay, doctor said he would be surprised if the scan was abnornal in any way. Anyway, the tech kept on and on measuring this and that, and seemed to take longer, although initially she told me it would take only 10 mins. I asked her if she sees something, and she said she is not allowed to tell me. She asked me whether I had a return appointment with the doctor which to me was saying, you sure should go back to the doc since you have something here. The test kept me worried this weekend. Remember that undiagnosed neck pain which I have had since Sept. and no specialists have been able to tell me what it is - now I am freaking out. Could it be something? My neck MRI had come out not showing any lesions or cancer. Does the MRI of the neck not cover the thyroid? I had all sorts of fear and questions this weekend. I will get the results by Tues I hope.
-
Lovely sending positive vibes your way!
-
Just got back from a Pilates class - trying to keep up with my normal day to day activities. I am waiting to hest from both of my oncologists. Dr P (renal cell) about scheduling a bone/PET scan - and Dr M (breast) for final biopsy report and chemo treatment and schedule. He wanted me to start treatment on Thursday, but DD is graduating college on Friday, and as this is my first treatment, we don't want to take any chances, of a bad reaction. So I will start on Monday or Tuesday next week.
One of my sister's is really pushing me to get a 2nd opinion. I'm not sure what to do, I want to start treatment ASAP- i am being treat at NY Columbia Presbyterian - which is a mile from where I live and a really great hospital which I have been using over 20 years. All of my doctor's are attending physicians there. Is it worth getting another opinion once I start treatment? Any suggestions, etc would be greatly appreciated.
Lisa, sending you healing vibes - the hospital is no place for a sick person
-When I first started chemo for my advanced renal cell carcinoma I got a minor infection and wound up in the hospital for 8 days - not fun, but they need to extra careful with people who have suppressed immune systems. Merrinell - Great story - a sense of humor is priceless.
Painting - prayers and condolences to your whole family.
lovelyface - waiting for results is always the worst part of the processes. Good luck.
