Don't know where else to post this, so it's going here...and I'm gonna bitch. I am so freakin' sick and tired of members getting posts deleted via the "reporting" button. Gawd!!!!! There, now it's off my chest (for the time being).

It's really annoying when I get on here late in the day in the USA and evening in Europe and everyone has had a chance to read and respond to a post that is now deleted.  If only we could just delete objectionable words or sentences so we could at least see the main point of the post.  I know that would be too hard, maybe they could be transferred to a naughty corner so we could peek if we want to. Cool   I imagine that would be a big disincentive to put anything rude in a post as the offenders would be there for all to see.  Embarassed

Joy, that is a brilliant idea. It is annoying as hell, when you don't get a chance to read something. There was one in the alt section that was deleted shortly after I read it...went back to research it and it was gone....it didn't break any rules. I can't stand self-appointed board monitors. Your idea is genius! I don't think it would be too hard to just remove the objectionable parts and leave the jist. Mods, how about it?

Gracie, our posts in the alt sections get removed by the community (self-appointed board monitors) ALL THE TIME.  Kuddos to the sisters who removed the OP that was posted in the wrong forum trashing TCM.

Yes, it seems the majority are there, but the one that bugs me the most wasn't in the alt section at all. Less than kinds posts need to stay so we all know what we're dealing with IMO. Not that I'm into rubber-necking a train wreck, but I want to know what/who I might be taking advise/support from in the future. It just reeks of censorship....I hate that.

Don't know what you are alluding to then, but I agree that there should be a thread called: "Shameful comments made by members of this community".  I bet one would clearly see a representation of the membership to a definite 'club'

Don't get me wrong Maud...I meant the alt forum as well. Good thing I manage to catch most of them before they're removed.

Going to try some dandelion soup today.Laughing I'm thinking "Italian Wedding" with dandelion greens instead of spinach. Thanks again for answering me on the other thread.

Maud - have you ever thought that posts in the Alt forum are removed because the people there say things they shouldn't more than elsewhere? Were the self appointed monitors of the Alt forum responsible for Orange's post being removed?

gracie, and everyone, when a post is removed by the Community, it starts as a temporary removal. No removal can become permanent without it being reviewed by a moderator to determine if the report is rejected or upheld. If a report is not upheld, the person or persons doing the reporting can be subject to sanctions too.

Thank you Mods, hopefully, posts that don't break any rules are reinstated and those who abuse the report function sanctioned.  Everyone likes to believe that this is done in all fairness.  I do miss my alternative minded sisters so much though, they're all gone Cry

SQ "people shouldn't say things they do" ?????  People should be free to discuss their alternative views, BCO created a forum just for that.  If this was a conventional site as so many of you claim (you're actually claiming ownership when you say that, Lol), there would be NO alternative forums.

But self appointed censors who don't like alternative views, invite themselves on the threads, trash everything and everyone, and when the cornered alties respond, they get removed by the self appointed censors.  i.e, currently, the Burzinsky thread is being trashed for the XXXe time, who's provoking ? the usual culprits

As I said on another thread, kuddos to the sisters who removed Orange's OP.  Obviously, it broke rules as it has not been reinstated.  Has it ?

Mods:  It would be grand if the Alternative Forum would be off limits to the self-appointed censors just like Stage IV forum is to the other stages (they are protecting their community and that's OK). Only those with alternative views could post there.  BCO would then see a flourishing community.

Stats say that something like 75% of breast cancer patients resort to alternatives while in treatment and thereafter.  That's a significant number of people who get scared away from BCO

ETA:  This categorization of Alt vs Comp is wrong, just because the conventionals like to have it both ways.

Sorry, it doesn't work that way. It ought to be either pharmaceutical or non pharmaceutical treatments, that's where the dividing line should be. DIM can either be used ‘alternatively' or ‘complimentarily' and so does a host of non pharmaceutical treatments.

The creation of the alt. forum only resulted in isolating and alienating many many sisters.  They became easy targets and have now left BCO for the reasons we all know which is a real shame for they brought to the table their knowledge and experience, e.g. Wornoutmom who was scandalously defamed.
