Adriamycin causing chest pains?

Options

Has anyone had any experience with Adriamycin causing or being linked to chest pains?

I experienced intermittent chest pains yesterday, luckily it was ongoing when I was in the MO's office. It wasn't an intense or sharp pain, more of a strong pressure. No trouble breathing. Nitrogylcerin stopped the pains immediately. Went for a quick EKG, normal. Seeing the cardiologist today for follow up.

I've read that Adrimycian can cause heart issues, some irreversible. I had a healthy heart prior to chemo, and probably still do. :-)

Experiences?

    Hi CarlainNC,

According to the main Breastcancer.org site, Adriamycin can cause some heart problems. While you wait here for the experiences of others, check out the Adriamycin drug page and also the Heart Problems side effect page for tips.

    Hope this helps!

Did you have a baseline MUGA test/scan prior to chemo? I had AC at the same time so I'm not sure which one prompted the scan, but it can impact the hearts pumping ability. The baseline scan was done in case I ad heart issues (I didn't). If I did they would do a follow up scan and compare. Bet of luck to you.
