anybody feel sick after mri?
so i had an mri on monday. i had to take an ativan beforehand because i felt so nervous and ive never taken ativan but seriously...that night i felt exhausted and even to today i just feel wiped. anyone else feel like that?
it could be because the next day i had to drive an hour back to the cancer centre again for genetic counselling and they took more blood and the whole thing of it all is just wiping me out....but seriously i feel like i have the flu. my whole body is sore in my joints and i am stiff all over.

Hi Nahnda
When I had my MRI I was sweating like crazy and nearly fainted, when I stood up I needed help to walk out of the room because I nearly fell.
Once I'd sat down for a while I felt better and didn't feel sick like you.
I must say though that I did feel like you, sore joints etc, after my diagnosis. Lots of people told me it was from not sleeping and stress.
Good Luck

Did they do "contrast dye?" That stuff makes me sick. And then the lying still on my 44dd's was painful. I ached for several days. All in all the MRI was the most miserable part of this whole experience. Worse than the lumpectomy, worse than setup for rads (which involved another good chunck of time on my front) ... So maybe the worst is over for you too?

i like that! the worst is over. lol. it was a rotten test. yeah they did use the radioactive dye and when it went in it felt like my arm had turned to lead and i felt wretched. but ever since the test i feel wiped. HOWEVER i JUST remembered that one of the kids in the nursery at church has chicken pox and i was taking care of her before they knew it was pox. I've had them before though...but its the only sense i can make of this.

I felt poorly too...I just assumed it was the contrast dye, and I drank alot of water/liquids. Or maybe it was from nerves, but I was exhausted. It passed in perhaps 3 days.
I remember I had to have a blood test to be sure my kidneys could process the dye, just one more thing to add onto the discomfort and worry.
let us know how you are doing.

Yeah I'm okay. I was the same. About three days. Today I have mild joint pain but nothing like yesterday or the day before. Even on Monday though, before my test I had a bit of the nervous runs (sorry). Today...I'm okay. Well...technically I'm not flu-ish anymore but I fell apart this morning when I ran out for some milk and saw a newborn baby. I went for genetic counseling and they were all "if u have this gene mutation we recommend you have a hysterectomy at 35" I Have 2 daughters but have been dreaming of a son for a few years. It's amazing the things that make you crack eh? This morning I went to check on these cedar trees that we had planted last year and one has some kind of growth. I lost 'er then too. Just started bawling and praying to God for these trees. Wish I could blame my volatility on the contrast dye!

I was so sore after my last one because I was so focused on not moving that I tensed up the whole time. Talk about a workout! Plus, it may have had to due with the ativan too.

so im pretty sure that i had some kind of bug. my daughter has it right now too...and i just remembered that its also like a week before my special times...*fun fun*
i wish there was a better face than frown on these little emoticons. a sarcastic grin perhaps?
