It seems to me that the whole Community here has become unwilling beta testers. Why should we be the ones who troubleshoot this mess? There is a great big internet out there and I am taking my headache away from this site for now. It would be for good except for the wonderful women I have met here. I think a lot of us will find ways to come together on other sites.

why did they change it again? I can't stand the new format! Just when you figure out the old one, they change it. "if it isn't broken, don't fix it!"

Sorry, Mods, I know you're working really hard to create something great that we'll all love.

But I do think the new design leaves something to be desired.  The grey/green background color is quite ugly, imho.  But worse is the big empty space on the left and the huge fonts and spacing that results in only a few entries showing on each page.  Also, the section headings (e.g., "Tests, Treatments and Side Effects," "Not Diagnosed but Concerned") don't stand out enough.  They should be in bold, or a different font or something.

There are lots of good things, though -- the bold "Post a reply" buttons, the dashboard, the ability to easily add treatment info and other things to our signature ...

I'm not going to rant and rave because it's a waste of time.  It's their site and they can do whatever they want.  We are only customers and like any product it is going to be a take it or leave it thing.

Increasing the spacing on the post lines helped a little bit.  But I still can't tolerate reading here for more than a few minutes.  Whether it's the glare, the color scheme, too many colors and font sizes jumping out at me or whatever, it is very unpleasant and I end up with a headache in a matter of minutes.  Will check back periodically and see if it gets any more bearable.

I've only tried Back to Top a couple of times but it didn't work when I did.

Back to the top is working for me again.

I used to spend ages on here, now i'm out of here in 5 minutes. Not comfortable with the layout at all.

rosemary, what browser do you use. Is it hte colors or lack of contrast that hurts your head?

think it is the color of the background in contrast to the post that is bothering our eyes and giving us headaches.

I use firefox. I think it is the contrast between the colors. I really don't know. The black on white is okay and so is the blue on gray but the black on the particular shade of gray seems to be the problem. I wish I knew.

Interesting - I find the contrast between the colors easier on the eyes.  Different strokes for different folks, I guess.  I'm older and wear contacts, this bolder text is lovely to me.

I think the big gray area permits users of mobile phones or tablets to view the discussion oards in the vertical position. I use both a computer and sn

And android tablet. I can't get the cursor to go where it should after

I have typed something on my tablet

I'm 60 (older?) and wear contacts. I have not go a clue why I'm getting headaches. It is discouraging. I keep leaving BCO and coming back to keep the headaches to a minimum.

I agree that the new format is a disaster (specifically in the discussion boards!).  Too much wasted screen space.  Takes too long to scroll thru topics and subjects.   Doubtful that I'll get used to it.    More likely, it will annoy me into not coming back.  I'm too lazy to dig for things.

I guess I'm in the minority here, because I like the new format.  I find it easy to navigate and to read.  No problems.

Ya, my 'Back to Top' ain't workin' either.

The colours don't bother me.  The lack of threads per page does.

Please, mods...consider making the Forum name much more prominent.  It is really the only thing I think is really a problem (other than tech glitches).  The forum, particularly stage IV forum needs to be HUGE and PROMINENT.  PLEASE!!  I want it to scream at me...careful, you are in _____________forum!!!!

Oh my gosh...I can't remember wasting so much time trying to get around this site. I can't find anything...'back to the top' doesn't work so we have to scroll. What is with all the empty space on the left. I'm sorry to say I won't be on here much anymore. I hate change! Especially when it takes me out of my comfort zone.

Hey, I'm getting used to it!

One thing I noticed:  the "italics" button doesn't seem to produce italics.  I like to use it when I'm quoting someone's post.

For those of you getting headaches, is it less glary in the OP at the top of the page? The background is darker there so might give the mods a clue though I suspect you'd need it all darkened for a day to see if you still get the headaches.  Maybe the OP colour and the main colour could be swapped.

Mods... Here's a question... if on my favorites it says 24, and yet only 3 are new posts, how do I get rid of the 24??

I'm getting used to it and it does work really well on my BlackBerry. On my latop, the old format was much better. However,  there is no charge to use the site and I'm just really grateful it's available as a resource. I think it shows commitment on the part of bc.org to keep it fresh and technologically up to date.

I don't have speed issues, but I have Mac Cool

There is a lot of wasted screen space on "Active Topics" and "Favorite Topics" (and maybe other lists), so that less items fit on one page.  Go back to using the whole page width instead of all of that dead space under the blue-colored links (i.e. Active Topics, Favorite Topics, etc.). Put those blue links at the top...or back to the top.

Is there a way to edit the profile info after it is created - other than making discrete pieces of info public or private?

Kam170, click on the My Profile link at the top of your screen, and you can edit your profile there.

I guess I should have been more clear.  How do you edit the Diagnosis and Treatments.  You have radio button choices, but if, for instance, I wanted to add BRCA2+, how would I do that, manually? Or how do I add Dose Dense (btw, I believe I saw that in the radio button choice, but it didn't show up on the Treatments).

Ok mods - I know you are working hard and maybe this id asking too much at this time:

Is there a way to consolidate "PROFILE" with "DAsHBOARD" in one place? I like how we simply had MY HOME where everything was together. It is cumbersome and inefficient to be running back and forth between both places....

Adding voice to a call for civility please. If you think others -or you- can do better and have your own forum, what's stopping you? What do you want, pity violins? The whining and SHOUTING get old.

And yes this is a free service....

Kam170, you can't add anything manually to your Diagnosis. Instead, I would recommend you to use either "signature" or "bio" to complete your diagnosis. If you use the bio, it will only show up on your profile page so unless someone actually go there, it won't be seen at all. But if you use the signature, it will show up in every comment you post. Go to your "My Profile" page and select "edit" on the "signature" section and type in whatever you want. Then select "Change to Private" option in the Diagnosis section so that the content won't overlap with each other.

it IS weird, that different computers are reacting so differently. i liked it the old way, where the top of the page was used for fav topics, etc..

but, im grateful to be here. couldn't do it without all the support of you gals. i guess we oldtimers just don't know enough about computers to say this is better, or thats better. im just happy i can navigate it. back to top still isn't working for me, on any thread.. my solution is to drop down to the BOTTOM of the page, and click on fav. topics.. where ther's a will, there's a way.. i know changes are hard, but i have so much else that had to be changed in my life, this is so little, in comparison..3jays
