and I'm so sad! I loved the ingredients and have been searching for a replacement. However, I have found that many contain ingredients which are on the 'no-no' list for ER+. If you take a green powder supplement, what is it and why do you like it? Cost per container? Thanks!

I use the "Amazing Grass Green SuperFood" brand. Don't know much about the ER+ ingredients it may have, though. Tastes pretty good...not unlike cranberry juice. It's about $50, with shipping, to Canada and I get it from Vitacost. Maybe I should know what you know about the ER+ ingredients....what are the ones to avoid?

I take Amazing Grass ORAC blend.  If you get it on sale, it's about $22 for a month supply.  I don't worry about phytoestrogens, but that's just me.

Thank you, ladies. My favourite Berry Green (by New Chapters) has been temporarily discontinued due to difficulty sourcing ingredients to meet their criteria. I luckily found the last container in my area, on a shelf at a health food store not too far away. That will last me the month and hopefully they'll get things rolling again.

gracie1: I have been told to be careful of ingesting too much whole flax seed (although the jury is kind of out on that one...proponents of Gerson will attest to the benefits of flax), avoid Red Clover and Alfalfa. I have also read pros/cons about pomegranate but it's in Berry Green and I take it anyway. ( http://foodforbreastcancer.com/foods/pomegranates or http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21706446 )

There are different opinions regarding phytoestrogens (wish it wasn't so confusing) but the Berry Green met my needs and I felt very comfortable taking it so am really hoping that the company will resume production once they source ingredients that meet their high standards.

sweetbean: If we eat well, we will be ingesting phytoestrogens anyway, so why worry, right? A good diet is far more important than avoiding a 'possibility.' Some ingredients I still tend to avoid, like Red Clover and soy on a regular basis. (The organic sprouted soy in my english muffins is really yummy but I don't eat them every day.)

If anyone else has suggestions, please keep them coming!

There is a great Vegan shake, with NO ER+ ingriedients called Shakeology. The vegan kind is tropical strawberry and it is SO good. www.shakeology.com

It is a little pricey but take a look at the ingriedients, you get alot for your money.

I hate when that happens. I wonder if there are any places you can still buy it online???

Not a green powder supplement but related...how about matcha green tea powder? This could be taken as well as your other powder.  I drink about 3/4 quarters of a tsp frothed up in 100 ml of hot water every morning. I use the ceremonial grade (tastes better) but there is also a cheaper 2nd harvest grade that can be added to smoothies and other beverages. (Starbucks uses the 2nd harvest in their matcha green tea lattes).

Cost: a 30 gram tin is abt $24.00 and lasts me about 4 weeks. I buy it at my local health food store (Planet Organic) which is sightly cheaper, I think, than buying online. Sears also sells it in their health food section.

PLJ, yes, I have read a zillion articles and talked to LOTS of integrative doctors about phytoestrogens and have come to the conclusion that they are fine.  But like I said, that's just me.  And yes, if you are trying to avoid phytoestrogens in your diet, you will end up cutting out a ton of fruits and vegetables.  I focus on cutting out other things.

Great suggestions, everybody. I do drink Do-Matcha, organic line but was told at the health food store that the 2nd harvest has a higher level of EGCG than the ceremonial. I thought that was odd but have been buying the 2nd harvest because of this. I mix mine in warm water then add it to veggie cocktail along with chia powder. I don't really care for the taste of matcha so I try to disguise it with different combinations in my Vitamix.

There are good studies out there that suggest pomegranate actually works synergistically with Tamoxifen and improves its efficacy.

I'm going to check out Shakeology...thanks!

I agree, sweetbean. It is more important to eat well than to avoid all phytoestrogens. My Naturopathic Onc has only really cautioned me about soy. I eat organic soy occasionally in the form of sprouted or fermented products but it must of good quality...no soy protein isolate for this girl! (That stuff is in everything!)

gracie1: I still eat some whole flax in organic items that I like. Here is a good article by Dr. Block: http://www.lifeovercancer.com/Resources/Flaxseed.htm For me, I would not feel comfortable taking it in quantity regularly but some on this forum do. It all depends upon the person. I have an 80% raw diet and I'm sure that some people think I'm nuts. Besides being an anti-cancer diet, I feel really great eating this way so I continue to do what is right for me.

Thanks for taking the time to post that article, PLJ. I'm not too concerned about the flax in it (but thought some might be...hence the oops!), but I'm comfortable with it. Something has kept me alive for the past 6 years so the flax hasn't killed me yet. It is comforting to know that others still consume it. For me, it still does more good than harm. I wish I had you're fortitude for the raw diet...I love food too much to ever stick with it.
