Numbness

Options

I was wandering has anyone ever felt any hand numbness during radiation. I have a week to go and today I have been having some pain on the radiated arm and numbness on my fingers. Is this normal. I don't see the doctor till next week.

Annoula, what you're describing sounds like neuropathy, which is a fairly common SE from chemo, or it could be a bit of lymphedema starting.  I'm not a doctor, but if I was in your situation, I would call your rad onc's office and report the pain & numbness. Chances are it's nothing to be overly concerned about, but I wouldn't wait a week to let them know, just in case it's something they would want to follow up on quicker.

Here's a link to some info on neuropathy and what vitamin supplements can help:  www.livestrong.com/article/285683-vitamins-that-treat-peripheral-neuropathy/

If it's lymphedema, you'll want to get a referral to an LE specialist to have it evaluated to minimize future problems.   Deanna

Thanks Deanna. Today when I went for radiation the nurse looked at it and she thinks it's

a side effect from the taxotere. The doctor will be there tomorrow if I need to see him. It felt

less numb today. I will look into the supplements. Thanks again for all your help.
