Snobird...my family always went Trout fishing...ohh it was wonderful.  I loved to eat it ..hated to fish for it...hahaha...I'm not much of a fisherman.  Have not been for probally over 30 years...

I am stuck on still losing only 4 pounds...Tenaj...I can't stay off the scales...I am amazed I have lasted this long on a diet....I don't get hungry either, but I'm kinda running out of ways to fix it.  I can't wait until the second cycle so I can have a little carbs, then it will change it more..  I like everything I just am trying to cook the same thing for myself and my husband.  He does not like Brocolli..I love it.

Kathy....yum...I can't wait to add some oatmeal for breakfast.

    Hello everyone else........

Hi ladies, sorry I've been AWOL. Wed. & Thurs. last week I had PMS so bad I wanted to kill someone. I was miserable. I blame the tamoxifen. Luckily for me it was followed by a nice short 3 day period. But it wasn't good for my food intake either. I'm trying to get back on track now, we'll see what Thursday shows. If I can stay focused I'm fine, but when I lose focus and eat whatever it's not so good.

I'll get some walking in tomorrow too - to DS's school and back again.

Sounds like you all are loving the 17 day diet, keep up the good work.

Good Morning Ladies!! I'm going strong on this diet...down another pound!!! It really does help to see the scale move finally!!! Thank you for your motivation in this endeavour...I really feel like I can get to a weight I haven't seen for quite some time.

I am taking a nonfat yogurt blenderized with peaches & a drip of agave...yum....for lunch with a piece of chicken, green tea & lots of water for lunch, red grapes for a snack.  I made my way to a McDonald's to use the bathroom yesterday while I was on the rode.  It smelled good!! But I didn't buy anything Smile

    Have a healthy & fun day!!Cool

    (((hugs)))

Tenja, I still make pasta for my husband but I don't eat it. I'll do a pasta primevera with loads of veggies and plate my veggies before mixing in the pasta. I'd actually rather eat the veggies anyway. I'll also make meatballs and sauce with no pasta too. In fact we went to an Italian rest. The other day with friends and I had meatballs with sauce and a nice salad. Since I didn't have any pasta they gave me a couple of extra meatballs which were huge anyway so I gave them to my husband to eat. I bakes a bunch of chick en breasts last night so tonight we are going to have chicken parm. Just take precooked chicken breast place in casserole dish coated with a little olive oil and pour heated tomatoe sauce over it . Add some fresh grated Parma cheese and bake for 20 min or enough to heat thru. Serve with steamed green beans and a salad. I'll make pasta for my husband if he wants.

Well I lost the 2 pounds I had gained over the weekend in one day. Sweet! Let's see how the rest of the week proceeds.

Since going off the aromasin, it has gotten a little better!! I think we all go through this, hang in there!!!! Thanks for your encouragement with the diet!!! Snobird, congrats on losing the 2 lbs!!! Well ladies I was hoping that scale would move again but notta. Still have kept off the 4pounds though. I know I'm not exercising enough. I can't seem to get that going. I have an inground pool which opens In two weeks so I will do laps when it is ready but in the mean time I am having a hard time getting going after I get home from work. I just want to get supper done and relax:).

I wanted to bake a turkey breast for supper but our small town grocer only had frozen so I went to our meat market and got low sodium already roasted turkey there. Steamed broccoli and low fat cottage cheese and supper done. So maybe ill get out n walk:). I'm still determined to make this style eating a way of life. I have learned a lot from the book. Looking at fat sugar carb and sodium content of everything. So glad I can come here n share. Sorry that was a long post;). Thanks for "listening" to me ramble.

Hang in there Nana.....you are doing very good. It is all about an attitutude change in how you choose the food you eat. Cutting out carbs is a big help in the weight reduction. You have to keep in mind that when you are making those healthy choices most of the time, you can treat yourself at other times. For now, just think positive & keep going so you can keep loosing. I have found it difficult to exercise when I get home from work also. Swimming laps in your pool sounds amazing....what a nice thing to look forward to!!

Hey Nana, hang in there. My grocery has turkey cutlets( usually 4 to a pack) that are great on the grill or sliced up for stir fry. Nice change from chicken. Remember the first phase is only 17 minutes of walking. That is down my driveway and back lol.

Thanks for the encouragement everyone! I DID go for a walk with hubby. We walked Down to see if grand kids were out in yard playing and they were. A special treat for walking three blocks hahaha. We stopped n chatted with them awhile then walked on to my sisters another 3 blocks visited a bit then back home! I've been looking on Pinterest and the Internet for new recipes for chicken that will work on the first cycle. Sounds like you are all doing good. Snobird I'm going to try your chicken recipe one night too. I have made ground turkey burgers but have not seen them already made. That will have to wait till I go to larger store next time I go to stock up. Wish you ladies could come do laps in the pool with me. We could have a ladies only nite and eat healthy snacks n drink water. Hahaha. Kathy you are a real trooper all that bike riding it was a georgeous day here too! Tenaj that yogurt sounds yummy you are doing great! Have a good day tomorrow all!

Hi ladies. I have already walked my required 17 minutes. Will be cleaning house soon so that will be more exercise. Yay!

I am converting a recipe I seen on Pinterest tonight. It is called man pleasing chicken. This is my version: chicken breast tenders (or whatever you choose)

1/4 cup rice vinegar. 1/2 cup frenchs honey Dijon mustard (made with real honey). Mustard Has 10 calories per tsp and less than 1 gram sugar 1 carb 45 mg sodium 0 fat. Hoping that is ok on this diet but I figure it is a heck of a lot better than my normal rich toppings PRE diet cooking. Anyway put chicken in mixture put foil in bottom of baking dish add dredged chicken putting any remaining mix on top. Bake hour or so 425 -450. I really like it and I normally hate mustard but I'm learning to change my likes!!!! Steamed asparagus and I'm getting ready to eat right now:)

I am so impressed with everyone's progress! Sorry for skipping out for a bit. But I thought I'd check back in since I actually made it to the gym today. Just 6 minutes on the arm bike and 22 minutes on the treadmill, but other than slow-paced 30 minute walks around the apartment complex, that's the best work-out I've gotten in a few months. I'll start looking into some diet regimen in the next week or so.

Keep up all the good work.

No need to join a gym!!!!! When you vaccuum, do a few extra bends, use your detergents as weights when you are putting a load in. Just Love this!!!!! So go a head and clean and sculpt!!!!!Wink I first saw the word sculpt on the Let's Post our Daily Exercise thread, great ladies there, too. Have a wonderful day, everyone!!!

Morning. Today I've decided that I'm the only one who can change my eating habits if I want to lose weight, so every time I think about eating I have to ask myself, am I hungry and will this contribute to my weight loss goals, and do I need it. We'll see how it goes. It's been a rough couple of weeks, but now I think I'm ready to get back at it.

Great!  I am so glad to find a 'weight issues' thread.  I am the 'ever expanding shrinking woman' and so this will be a good place for me.

Up down by 50 lbs.  I have lost equivalent to a few people over the years, and the more i read about nutrition and its effects on cancer - especially breast cancer- i realize i need to take responsibility for my role in this disease.

Since weight is 80% nutrition and 20% exercise... i have put more emphasis on my eating. I have a few great books to suggest for anyone interested in the research around this:

The China Study  by T. Colin Campbell PHD, and Thomas M. Campbell II, MD - this book will blow our mind - and you will never drink cow's milk again!

Crazy Sexy Cancer Tips by Kris Carr

You Are What you Eat by Dr. Gilliam McKeith

Hope you enjoy these reads, they can change your life.  And this coming from a meat eating hearty gal from the prairies!

As for exercise - YES!!! go girls!!  This is great, it will help me to get motivated back out there.  I have been a life long exercising type off and on with the expanding shrinking thing obviously.  I was a runner as a young person and between babies being born, youngest son getting cancer twice, parents getting sick, moving multiple times etc. the routine would come and go with the weight... but alas, we all have excuses and put others before our most important needs.  Most recently i was doing a daily spinning/yoga class but when i picked up a 2nd job, i dropped the exercise, and the weight has slowly been coming back.

But with the diet changes i am finding it is melting away quite nicely and so if i can add the exercise back - i'll be golden!!

So I am in.  Today is Chemo day #1 for me, so i think i probably won't start today.  The first time i exercise i will post again...so if you don't hear from me you have my permission to give me a hard time and get off my ass!

All the best to each of you.  YOU CAN DO IT!  Go girls!

    Cheers

    Linda

Welcome Wonderwoman and best of luck to you!

Well, I'm sticking with the 2nd phase of the 17 day diet and so far i've lost 1 additional pound so the grand total as of today is 10 lbs. 24 days in. Had my egg with whole grain toast, coffee and an orange this AM. Made my lunch: carrots, celery, grape tomatoes, cottage cheese and green tea to go. Got my snack for later: strawberries and yogurt. Trying to keep up with the water LOL! Dinner last night was grilled steak salad with tons of veggies, cottage cheese and a cappucino for dessert. That cappucino (decaf) is my saviour in the evening. Keeps me from snacking on cookies or having ice cream. Next week I'm starting a formal Yoga class. My body needs some stretching out after sitting at a desk all day.

Hope everyone is doing OK out there.

Yay, everyone!!! Lots of good work being done....Smile

Got the splint off my broken thumb this morning, so I guess I should quit whining and get my butt back to the gym,  and back on my bike. Just have to figure out how to shift my bike gears without a thumb...(in the right handlebar)....

Optifast continues to go well. Down a total of 35 pounds from my highest (20 pounds since being in the program) and have 35 pounds to go.

They are cruisers, no gears, so sometimes we are huffing and puffing!!!! I rode the stationary bike today and took a nice walk to the grocery store!!!! Weigh in today, I am down another 2 lbs. A big thank you to you all for keeping me motivated!!!!!

Well the bike ride was tough because it got windy this afternoon. Good work out though. I'm going out to dinner tonight so I just finished a snack of apples and peanut butter so I'm not tempted to chow down on the bread basket LOL... Boy I love apples and all natural peanut butter. Downing a cup of green tea while I'm at it. So psyched to be losing, I'm working hard on keeping on this diet. Thank goodness I like to eat whole foods anyway. It's getting all the water down that is a challenge, along with all that peeing that goes with it!

    Everyone have a great weekend!

WOW!!!! Everyone sounds like they are doing so well. That's FANTASTIC!!!!

I'm so glad I've started this 17 day diet, thanks Kathy. Great job on the continued weight loss. Be careful you don't loose too much or your dress for the wedding won't fit. He-he

Snobird your dong great. I enjoy my bike rides around where I live. It's been very windy lately so it makes it quite challenging.

Good to hear from you Blessings, sorry to hear about about your thumb.

Hi CookieMonster , hang in there....apples are a great snack.

ATeamNana, how's it going on the diet & work? It's a bit challenging, but made it through my first week. Sort of....

It was Nurse's week & I went out to dinner with a bunch of my old colleagues. I bounced up a 1.5 lbs Thursday from going out on Wednesday. I didn't even get a drink!!!! (unheard of from me! LOL) I even brought my green tea bag with me.

I've lost 4 lbs my 1st week anyway so I'm very happy with that. I put on pants that I bought for my job orientation the beginning of April & they didn't fit!!! YIPPEE!!! :-)

    Welcome wonderwomen!

Have a wonderful weekend & HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!

Thanks, Kindergarten! - I smashed the tip of my thumb in the car door and then yanked it out without opening the door. Cry Reflex, I guess. Broke the bone, but I MAY not lose the nail! Yay for your 2 pounds!!!

Snobird - keep swiggin' that water! It really does help!

    Congratulations, tenaj!
