Thanks lisamarie68 for your response best wishes for you too.

vball and columbiana, congrats on good news!
Lisamarie, yay! a good day!
Valerie, yay on the drain removal, it is like freedom, isnt it?
One week until back to work, feel nervous, no stamina. I went to gym today, could only do 20 min low level cardio (heart rate in the 120s, much less than usual work out). Any one else experiencing low stamina and what seems like a lot of deconditioning considering it has only been (for me) 3 weeks of relative inactivity.
I see ps tomorrow, maybe finally will come off antibiotics, its been 3 weeks on them.
jennyrdj, thanks for the solidarity on the husband helping thing!
-
Such a great news day today....off pain meds, great path reports, etc. congrats to all.
Anyone joining me for radiation? I start Monday. -
colombiana - my understanding is that if it is all DCIS that means it stayed contained and no way could it have spread. When it becomes invasive (IDC) then it can spread, but DCIS by definition is only in the breast. Such good news for you! Congrats!
Congrats to the other good news as well, sounds like many of you are on your way. I hope that chemo is easy for each of you who have to have it.
-
Hi all its good to be back. I had a few complications and had to have a second surgery so I wasn;t able to get on the computer. Today I had my 4th fill and yes vegan gal it feels weird. I was in a lot of pain but each day gets better. To all the new gals welcome this support group is wonderful. Like everyone is saying it's the anxiety before the surgery thats the worst. I wont lie some days are tough but I now have a Peace of mind and serenity and nothing is better than that, to all of u on the other side I hope u are all healing well. Lisamarie how r u> special hugs to you, I'm sorry I haven't been able to read all the posts yet, Hugs to all of you for helping me through this journey......
-
vballmom: Wonderful news!!! Isn't is wonderful to be able to check something off the "worry" list ?!? And thanks for asking about the rads!
Dianarose: I am so glad your recon is working out for you! I'm staying positive until the last fill is done.
Valerie0118: I will be so happy when my drains come out!
Columbiana: Niiiiiice!!!
Hearing good news for you guys feels as good as when I get good news!!
-
It is certainly good to hear so much good news today!
I am going to call and see if I can get my drain out. It's time - almost nothing is coming out now.
-
It doesn't look like we have heard from Bellamarie. I hope everything went fine.
vballmom- Hope you got that dam drain out.
Lisamarie- I hope you are having a better day. I had my bf take a picture of my boobs before surgery and post-op and he will take one after each fill. I want to see the progress. I can't wait until the final one with the tattoo's. I will let my PS have copies for her book.
sony22- About how many fills are you estimating it will take? I want to be a full B or small C. My ps said when I get to the size I want she will over fill by 20%. The 1st fill didn't hurt, just felt weird. I see you have had 4. When did it start to get uncomfortable?
-
Hi everyone, I havent posted in a while, but I read this thread every day, sometimes multiple times each day. Saw my MO today and finally some good news! Oncotype DX score of 6!!!! She wants me to start on Anastrozole 1 MG daily, but I need to wait until the open wound heals. It is getting better, has gone for about 1.25 inches to about .75 of an inch. Draining is still causing me a mess from time to time, but I am down to using about 6 maxi pads a day for the drainage, was using 12 two weeks ago.
I am just so happy with the news today, even had a margarita at out celebration supper! Bought a lottery ticket too!
-
GmaNiki, that is wonderful news! I am so happy for you!
-
Congrats GMaNiki! Great news. Glad to hear u r doing better lisamarie! I am going to PS tomorrow to remove drains (16 days!!) and have my first fill. Dreading my 2.5 hour bus ride to NYC!!! And dreading the ride home even more! But can't wait to get rid of these drains!
-
Dinarose, I want to be the same exact size you want to be. I was a small A before. Anyway it was about my 3rd fill that I could really start feeling the strecting of the chest and muscles. motrin in the am and tylenol 3 hours later help with the pain. I was scheduled to have 3 fills this week and yesterday after my fill DR said he wants to see me wed but no fill. I had radiation on my right breast, a mamosight where the radiate with seeds and go directly to the where the tumor was, when I had my lumpectomy 3 years ago.. anyway dr said he wants to slow down on the fills because of the scar tissue left. It's pretty red on the inscision and I hope there is no infection. He put a sterry strip. Anyway originally he was hoping to have all fills done in 3 weeks going 3 times a week. So we will see. I hope that everything goes well for you. .......keep me posted.......oh I forgot to tell you I do have little boobies. Dr smiled yesterday and said wow you are starting to have some breasts......
-
Wow I also was a small A lol my ps was going to let me have a full B but I am not happy here the TE feels like its shifting under my armpit . The only way to describe how I feel is like I have crutches under my arms while someone sits on my chest while another one bear hugs me non stop . So I'm getting to the point I may want them out and go boobless , I took before and after photos too Diana rose , I am trying to blog it u can see what I look like there I'd u want it's HopeSerenityStrength.blogspot.com hugs
-
Lisamarie, Good description of what it feels like with the TEs!
I went to PS yesterday and asked him to do only a 1/2 fill (50cc) he is so aggressive, 100 cc each time starting a week after surgery. I now have 490 cc! Feel like I'll burst. What is his rush?
They are flat and wide, I look like a male body builder. Is that because I am fat? Any of you slim ladies look like that?
And what is the verdict on everyone's energy level? Does it suck like mine?
Oh, and got the all clear to exercise without restriction (stop when it hurts he said).
-
I didnt get TE's so my situation is a bit different. However, I cannot wait to go back to work! Ive been working from home for the past week-and-a-half and im going out of my mind. Regardless of my energy level, I cant wait to get back into my normal routine. I may only have one boob and one ugly mastectomy bra, but bring it on!
-
Glad your feeling better lisamarie.....those pain meds can play havoc with our system. I thought mine were working OK and then Thursday before I got my drain pulled, I took one on an empty stomach and paid the price with losing my lunch just a while later. I'm sticking with tylenol.
Great news vballmom and columbiana!
I go tomorrow to the radiation oncologist for consult and Friday for my re-excision and radiation catheter placement (outpatient). I guess I find out tomorrow when the actual radiation will begin.
-
Plymouth, My energy level is low too. The surgeon wrote my return to work notice for up to 32 hours for the next few months. This will be good for me with radiation coming up and these fills every two weeks. I am out of personal and vacation leave so at least I get one day off of work per week (60% of my pay). I have a 2 hour commute and right now I just can't see me being able to do my normal 10 hour days 5 days a week. The nurse practioner told me that the energy is last to return. Our bodies are still healing.
My TE is lopsided and flat too. They have to stretch that muscle out and because the thing isn't full, it flattens. Our real one/one's will be just right I'm sure! I'm putting a polyfill filled thing that came with my cami in. After removing a bit of the fiberfill each exchange, it looks pretty normal. Only problem there is it puts pressure on my foob and I have to remove it and rest for a bit after a few hours.
-
I had mine April 27th and Im having a difficult time with pain from the tissue expander.
-
Dang! Y'all are sooooo far ahead of me. I had my surgery 4/10 and have been dealing with nipple necrosis on the left side. Thankfully, the nipple will make it but.... "No fills until the skin is perfect", says the PS. I am slowly getting a more normal looking nipple now. My whole body continues to itch at times and I have a red rash after showering all over my belly and back. Nobody knows what it is. I stopped all medications...no pain pills, no antibiotics. UGH!
valerie, my right TE migrated toward my armpit. PS says it will be fixed with the fill (Hah! If I ever get one!) I agree that once we have the real implants, they will look beautiful!
Plymouthpeople---that's a lot of fills in a short time. When is your exchange surgery? I have had a few low energy days, and then I walk and my energy level increases and the chest wall muscle spasms improve. If it works for me, it might work for you.
I cannot find a sports bra that fits right. I tried to wear my Genie Bra and AHH Bras. I am normally a size small, but even a medium is too tight. This is frustrating! Anyone else having this issue? Any bra suggestions? I am supposed to go back to work really soon, and I have nothing to wear!
-
Plymouth , My TE's look flat too like a mans body builder as well and high up.. im just 107 lbs well i was .. who knows now may have lost wieght . I blogged my journey so far , I have no clue what I am doing but If u want to see what my TE's look like its at HopeSerenityStrength.blogspot.com My PS is slow at things , I have no idea what he put in at time of surgery but its something an opd he told me I had no restriciton last week when I had my drains out and that was one week post op . I am a cna and I do physical work I wash a man dress a man that is in a coma . so physically i cannot work I know this myself . so while he says no restrictions I wished I could . and like i said my first appt for fill is may 15 so that will be 3 weeks post op . I just know physically i cant do it yet and if I push myself I hurt more .
As far as bra thing I cant do it , even my zip up front i bought for surgery , too tight and uncomfrtable , i wear tank tops but they bug me too under arms .. loose tshirts seem best
-
Lisamarie I can not beleive you have no restrictions. My dr doesnt want me to do any lifting at all for 6 weeks. he also does not want me moving my arms like when I talkt. Plymouthpeople that does seem like quick fills. I had 4 and went to see him today and he said he wants me to heal because my left breast inscision is real red so he didn't fill he wants to slow down. As far as the energy level, it's getting better. Some days are better than others. Oh amd I do feel like mine ;ook like bodybuilders. Big flat muscles with a turtle shell....

Re: bra question
The hook up the front $9 ones from Walmart are working for me. They do not enhance my shape but they are comfortable.
-
I received my path report from surgery and it looks like my neoadjuvant chemo worked! There was no cancer left in my breast or lymph nodes.
I had an emotionally crappy day today. I think the pain pills make me mean...and I can't be mean to my wonderful mother, husband and children.
I think my PS filled me close to 600cc. No wonder I'm in so much pain. I'm big though, 5'11 and thick. -
Congrats Markat!
-
Back from long day at PS. Drains removed (ouch and yea) and first fill, though I had big fillduring initial surgery. Crashing headache from stress and muscle tightness, I think. A couple of questions for the group 1) my nurse said I don't need to wear bra?? Just cami? Anyone else hear this? 2) I am freaked by how little I can move my arms. Doc says if not fully functioning in 6 weeks will start PT. Anyone already starting PT? 3) I had really big breasts before bmx. Now have a lot of extra skin- and a bit of a lumpy looking breast. Ps says some will expand and will try to fix in next surgery. But its definitely lumpy looking. Anyone else have a lot of extra skin and lumpy foob? One of mine is much lumpier than the other. And the other is nice in cleavage, but lumpy under my armpit-- which is still ripe! Looking forward to a SHOWER!! Xxoo
-
Lisamarie80 Im not two weeks out and feel like ripping the extender things out cuz of the pain,
I am quite frustrated at the pain, the level stays at a 9 and sometimes an 8. 3 hydrocodones every 6 hours. and now valium 3 times a day. I hope that helps beacause I feel like going to the ER almost everyday for pain management.
I am wearing the bra medical spandex tube top thing. I did buy the $9 cotton sport bra that fastens in front to use next.
-
Tonight must be the worst night for me as it is midnight here and I am still tosssing and turning
I just wanna sleep darn it all .. these friggin things are really not nice !!! Pissed
-
I'm sorry for all the pain you are having, ladies. It's strange, but in a way the UMX with no recon looks like the easy way out. I know I will be facing what you are going through down the road, though, so it is helping me formulate my distant next steps.
Yesterday I kind of freaked out when the receptionist told me I could have an appointment to remove my drains on the 16th. I was down below 10 ml for three days and they are just keeping me up all night. Every time I move I got that creepy sensation of a foreign body inside of me. Anyway, the APRN took it out. I took an ativan before, but passed on my oxycodone because it made me so sick the day before. I felt nothing but a little tug. Whew. The down side is that she wants me in a compression bandage 24/7, so I've traded one annoyance for another.
GmaNiki - did you have a drain in?
Nancy, as frustrating as it is, I am glad your PS is making sure things are healed before proceeding.
Amy, the hydrocodones made me a crazy woman. I couldn't even be left alone when I was on them - I could hardly make it to the bathroom by myself I was so woozy. The medical spandex sounds better than this ace bandage I have around me, though.
Markat - amazing! I am so happy for you.
Mardibra - I went to work for a few hours yesterday. Got a lot done in a couple hours and then faded. Around 1 pm I am ready for a nap!
I am getting my haircut today. I am going short, short, short! Tomorrow - wig shopping. I expect to lose my hair the first week of June. Just wow.
-
vballmom: I have to say that I must stop my self-pity party and smell the roses. You have so much more to deal with in chemo and hair loss. I have no room to complain. I am glad that your drains are out. I read somewhere that the Spanx garments are acceptable for compression and are much more comfortable than anything else.
lisamarie, I also have trouble sleeping due to pain. I cannot take hydrocodone, because if I do, I will get up and start cleaning my house. My DH actually put all the cleaning supplies in a hidden place right after my surgery so that I would not be tempted! Sleeping pills and Valium also do this to me! I'm a mess!
longislandmom: My PS said no bra for the first 3 weeks. I kept my nipples, and he wanted NOTHING to block blood flow to them. I am now allowed to wear a sport bra, but I cannot find one that works for me.---Activity wise: I cannot turn the steering wheel of the car without feeling like I am falling apart---not driving. Nobodu mentioned PT to me. I wonder if I should ask about it?
markat: Congrats on the great news! I cannot imagine myself going thru chemo. Such great news!
-
Nancy, don't minimize what you are going through for us. I am so humbled by all that I have learned here. We all have our pains and our wild roller coaster of emotions, on top of our every day life and baggage. I try to remember the good things every day. I am blessed with an amazing, supportive family and good medical care.
I don't know why, but the hair loss is not freaking me out. That doesn't mean I won't cry or hate it, but I've always had a love hate relationship with my hair. I went prematurely gray. Most people tell me it's striking. I actually get stopped on a regular basis by people (men and women) commenting on how brave I am and if their hair would be gray like mine they'd do it in a second. Brave? Jeez. Brave is not letting your hair go gray. Maybe I will change my picture and show you...but then I am not so anonymous.
