    HA HA HA Blessings - I probably shouldn't laugh, but that's funny.  This guy I spoke to, at least knew his stuff. But they do it just based on tidbits of information. He said that their system showed an elbow injury. I did not go in to get treated for an elbow injury, but in the course of the surgery they tweaked my elbow pretty badly. They never treated that, just told me to let them know if it got worse and that it would likely get better. They must have notated it somewhere in my records and the ins. co. picked up on it.  This letter, and the phone call were actually with a 3rd party too, not the actual insurance provider.

    Spunky - my insurance was with Aetna, but it sounds like most of the insurance carriers do this. It was just so bizarre, especially after more than 3 months.

    As for your poor elbow...sounds like they were just looking for another source of funding in case they could find someone to blame. Is it o.k. now?

    Elbow is totally fine now. I suspect having it stuck in some odd position for 14 hours made it stiff and sore, but it was fine pretty quickly (probably within a week). Silly insurance companies. :)

    Insurance is silly!  I had to fight a charge for 400 as it was deemed 'not medically necessary without prior approval' - I questioned if something became necessary with approval.  Had follow up with onc today.  No big issue with  tamox for me and that is good.   Next step - revision  and scar fixing.

    Blessings- You gave me a good laugh!

    Bogie- I have that same swelling that you were describing on the top of the foob and around under the arm to the back. My LE therapist works on it when I am there so I am assuming it is part of my LE. I am going to ask  her about compression for that in addition to the sleeves I already have.

    I went to the Orthopedic dr and he gave me a cortisone shot in my frozen shoulder. I am not a fan of adding meds but this one has really helped my pain and I am actually getting some sleep and am able to get out and do some walking. I finally did my sleep study last night and I do not know how they expect you to sleep with wires connected to about every part of your body imaginable.

    Ginger, I am supposed to get a sleep study too, just can't face it yet. I am glad to hear its not so bad. Thx

    It was ok but there were wires taped and attached everywhere. It is a very un-natural way to try and sleep. My technician was very nice and that made it less wierd.

    Ginger48-glad to hear you are getting some relief from the frozen shoulder.  Mine is s-l-o-w-l-y improving, but still hurts-and now the other one is starting to act up, too! Frown

    Spunky Cry I cannot believe the difference since the shot. I go to my PT today and can't wait to see what she has to say. Tell that other shoulder to calm down!!!

    Moonflwer912- My dr called to tell me the sleep study showed that I have sleep apnea. I have to go back and do it again with a CPAP mask on to see if it will make a difference. I cannot believe it; I am so sick of medical crap ruling my life!

    It will make a difference, believe me. I have many friends that it helped and my nephrologist is the one who recommended it, he said my blood pressure would come down. I just haven't been able to force myself into another doc visit. So I know what you mean, but it will help. Maybe I need to get a move on with that. Much love

    Ginger - We have a good friend who just recently got a CPAP machine and he says his sleep is so much better, more restful and overall better quality. I hope that after going through this, the same is true for you.

    Moon and Ginger I have to do a sleep study as well. During last surgery they suspected I may have it. Well I just started on Aromosin and Zoloft and it makes me tired so maybe I'll sleep there ha!



    Freaks me out knowing someone is watching me sleep huh??? no like

    Bogie, my son is actually working in a sleep lab! LOL. He doesn't actually do the tech stuff anymore, but the analysis. But it is funny. I wouldn't go to his because not same city. I still don't know how to fit that in though.

    The sleep study was wierd but easy. There were tons of wires hooked up to my body but I fell asleep in about 15 or 20 minutes.But I am so tired that I think I could sleep pretty much anywhere. I put those cameras right out of my mind. I hope the mask will help because I am so tired all the time! The nurse who called said I have severe obstructive sleep apnea. I do not like the word "severe" when it comes with any diagnosis! I would rather be "severely healthy"!

    december sisters - will be reading but not posting for while. saw ps yesterday a.m.; all is well and he is pleased w/ my wt loss progress.

    stopped by the store and somehow, getting out, slammed the door on my right thumb. so shocked i yanked it out w/out opening the door. gory sight; parking lot looked like a crime scene but i didnt pass out.

    managed to drive myself home. hard, because i'm rt handed.

    rest of the day spent at docs, xray, ortho docs. have a fractured thumb, and a big sack o' vicodin and antibiotics.

    at least it wasnt on my snb side!

    other than that life is good.

    Blessings-Oh no!  I imagine the pain is awful, but I really can't imagine getting along without the thumb on my dominant hand!  Take it easy and heal quickly.

    Thank you so much, Ladies...

    Last night I had to unwrap the big honkin' splint, (and soak the gauze in water because of all the dried blood) because the ortho doc told me to get the nail polish offa there ASAP. He said it would cause an infection.

    But after I took off the sticky brown wrap, the metal splint, the gauze, the stockinette wrap, the non-stick bandage, and the Xeriform, and soaked it in water, I was really surprised.

    I think the extra nail polish actually protected my nail. All the gushing  blood had come from underneath, and there was one large gash on the side, but I got the polish off, and cleaned everything up. My nail wasn't black underneath! (DH says it's probably because I left most of the blood in the parking lot! Surprised)

    I put everything back on in reverse order, and this morning I woke up at 6 a.m. after the splint fell off. I guess the swelling is going down! It was three times the size of my left thumb.

    Ortho doc and DH both say the nail will fall off. Ortho isn't sure if it will grow back in right.

    Anyone have experience with this?

    Hi Ladies - long time since I've checked in here!  Hope everyone is doing well.  I thought since we all had our surgeries around the same time this is the place for my question----- does anyone still have pain in their surgery areas?  I had a segmental mastectomy and sentile lymp removal (3 were removed) and I'm still having some pain in the breast and still have some difficulty lifting my arm.  My surgery was in December and it seems like a long time to have the pain although I supposed with the sensative area it is it makes sense.  Just wondering how others are doing.

    I can still feel a 'pull' when I stretch out/up my arm however I think this is a recon issue and not a UMX issue.  No pain though.

    I occasionally get Sharp pains in the area of the drains. Just nerve regenerating I guess. Also tight feeling when stretching, first time in the day, then I don't notice it.
