follow up with rad doc after a year?
i got a letter in the mail that i need to see rads doc for follow up, I don't see the point, I had a tram flap (because of rads) so the radiated skin is gone. is this just another reason to take money from my insurance company? do most people go back? for what so she can look at me and say your good? I had radiation a year ago in January.

The last time I saw my Rads Dr was approx. 9 mths after last rad. which was about 3 mths after last burns were healed. He said he never needed to see me again. Shortly after that surgeon saud he never needed to see me again as long as I see my PA every 6 mths. - not a problem because she had already told me instead of anual check - it's 6 mth checks now. Chemo Dr says that because I'm 'high risk' (IBC), he has to keep seeing me every 6 mths.
We're all different and our Dr's are too - there will be differences in how 'we' are handled. -
Ditto what Kicks wrote. I was told I would be rotating doctors every 3 months for 5 years. Seemed kinda silly to see a breast surgeon (I have no breasts) and a Radiation Oncologist...AND an Oncologist. But I see my PA.........and Onc every 6 months. Get all my bloodwork done, and bingo. done.

After rads my rad onc said all followup would be with med onc. This is not because of Stage IV dx since it was before that.

I haven't seen my rad onc since finishing rads. I only see my med onc on a regular basis.

My RO sees me once and year, as does my breast surgeon. I see my MO every 6 months so I end up being seen every 3 months. I'm happy to see all 3 of them. It makes me feel better that a variety of people are examining my breasts!

I'm seeing the BS, RO and MO each once a year -- it was every six month for the first year) - spaced out so I see one of them every four months. I also find it good have a variety fo fgolks looking after me.
Toomuch, I notice that you're also in Maryland. I know that most folks in this area are also doing this roatation in caregiving. I wonder if it's because NIH and NCI are a local influence.

My RO said that - after checking my skin one month post-treatment - I don't have to see him again. All follow-up would be with my MO because she was the "systemic" specialist.

My rad doctor said I could see her if I wanted...I see the surgeon and oncologist every 6 months anyway. I did email her to tell her I was healing slowly; had a lot of swelling and tenderness for 10 months.
