Hi ATeam, you are doing great!!!! Eatting at work is the most difficult to control. The key is to bring what you eat so you can control what you consume.

Kathy, I have a funny story about Bunco.....my grandmother played Bunco with me as a very young child, it was a game with these different looking dice & I believe you had to throw certain numbers. I thought it was another one of these games or things that my family had made up. Well, 40 years later I come to find out that one of my coworkers played Bunco every other Friday night with a group of friends. When she said BUNCO, I nearly fell off my chair. I wish I could get a group together to do something like that.

I did go shopping. I bought all sorts of fresh vegetables, fruit & nonfat pain yogurt. I even bought a container of egg whites. I hope they are good, I never had them before. I've had 3 glasses of green tea today. Although I didn't officially start today I do feel good. Lots of water & a big salad for lunch & dinner. I'm excited to start this & am happy some of you ladies are doing this also. It has really motivated me.

I decided not to buy the truvia, I did a little research & wasn't that happy with what I read. . It seemed some people had some side effects, stomach issues, mouth sores, terrible taste in your mouth. Have any of you had any problems? Have you been using it long? For now I will use agave, I don't use much sugar anyway. My issues come with candy & pastries......

    Have a great day ladies.

    ((((hugs)))) Janet

All you 17 day dieters - best to you!!  I'm still plugging away at Weight Watchers. It's slow going, but if I stick to it, I don't feel deprived and I also do lose weight. I have to stick to it though, for the most part. We'll see what the scale says tomorrow morning.  It's my pre-period week though, so it could be ugly just from that. I don't know.

I walked at DS' soccer practice, then today, walked to and from a meeting (about 10 min. each way), will walk on Fri. at DS' soccer practice. Maybe I'll try to get a walk in tomorrow too, I don't know, I'm feeling pretty pooped right now, and it's only Wednesday.

Today was a difficult day, tomorrow will, hopefully, be better.

Have a good and healthy evening, everyone!!

    Good Morning Ladies,

I had my first egg whites!!! I sauteed some red pepper in olive oil & then added the egg whites. It couldnt have been any easier & only 50 calories for the eggs. I cut up a few strawberries & 1/2 of pear & had my green tea. Drinking my water & actually feel quite thirsty. I alread found that when I was out yesterday I had to find several bathroms!!! Did some yoga & strengthening exercises from 2 15 minute shows I DVR'd. Going to do a little weeding before I shower (It rained a lot & it is sooo much easier)  Have a healthy & fun day!!!Cool

I am on day four!!! It is so hard at work. Today they had cheese n crackers AND Chex mix. I had taken in a bowl of blackberries which were really good. I'm kinda running out of ideas for supper meals. Chicken n veggies has pretty much been it. I think I will make omelets tomorrow night:). Doing pretty good on water. Walked last nite. I'm gonna cut up an apple for snack soon and make a little dip with my Greek yogurt. Cheating a little since having my fruit past 2:00:)

Look, I don't know if your work mates are overweight or even if they aren't, they are not helping themselves and if they know you are on a diet then they are trying to sabotage you. It is better if they are overweight so you can just look at them and what they eat as slowly killing them. (keep that little tidbit to yourself though). You have to keep in mind. That this diet is a bout making YOU healthier and not about them. Try to stick with it thru the 17 days and I bet you will have lost some weight as well as feel better about yourself. Be strong and don't fret too much about eat fruit after 2 pm. Better that than chex mix at any time of the day. When everybody breaks out the snacks take a walk for a few minutes then drink some green tea or distract yourself with a little desk meditation or a piece of fruit. Whatever it takes. Good Luck tomorrow.

Tomorrow I get to add in some carbs. What will it be? I think I see oatmeal in my future with blueberries and whipped cream.

Yeah for you snobird on getting to add carbs. I am down four pounds so I am motivated to skip the snacks they bring in. I just keep taking my food I can eat and am drinking my water! I made some fruit dip with the recipe you posted. It was good!

Well the official weight loss after 17 days phase 1 is 9 lbs. Yay! Love it! Now to add back the carbs. This AM I had 1/2 cup of oatmeal with chopped almonds, blueberries and a dollop of whipped cream plus coffee with whipped cream. Packed up my tea, water and yogurt and fruit for lunch plus pepitas for a snack. I haven't figured out dinner yet but at least I'm set for the day. Weekends are tough so we'll see how that goes. Losing 9 lbs is definitely motivating for sure. Have a healthy weekend everyone!

Mind if I join in? Just want to share my experience about losing weight. I normally never had a problem maintaining may weight but 2 1/2 yrs ago after 6 months of fertility treatment I gained 14 lbs that no matter what I did it wont come off, instead it just keep going up. I'm not a sweets and meat eater but I love to eat. Small but frequent. Dieting does not work for me. I have exercise induced asthma so I have to pick the exercise I can tolerate not to mention I had been suffering from on/off back pain for 25 yrs now ( cervical spondilitis ). Until a year ago I discovered www.myfitnesspal.com ( free and you can download it on your iphone too ) where I keep track of the food I eat. It would give you the daily calories you should eat based on your current body weight and how many pounds you want to lose per week. It has a large database of food but if your food is not there you can enter the recipe and it will give you the calories per serving. No diet here. You just have to pick the food you want to eat to meet your daily calorie allowance. Then at the same time I discovered NORDIC WALKING. It burn 40% more calorie compared to walking or running. Activates about 90% of all muscles. ( I pass out when I run, I have asthma attack when I bike ). Nordic walking is equivalent to cross country skiing. It will shape your arms, derriere, shrink belly etc. And everytime you exercise you can add your calorie burnt in myfitnesspal calorie allowance so you can eat more. To make my story short, 4 months later I lost 14+ lbs, and 5 inches less on my waist ( I kept my post pregnancy belly but now almost back to pre preganancy waist line ), 'Hope this helps. Have a wonderful weekend. http://runningrules.com/nordic-walking/

I'm am so excited about all our success. Tonight for supper I browned some lean ground turkey added some chopped onion mushrooms and red peppers. Put in a little ground ginger and garlic. I used a bit of virgin olive oil and Braggs liquid smoke. We can't have regular soy sauce because my husband has celiac ( gluten intolerance). I made lettuce wraps with the above mixture. It was wonderful. My husband had his in gluten free corn tortillas. He is so good about eating whatever I fix:). I did download fitness pal. Gonna check it out. There are also some 17 day diet blogs. I found them on Pinterest. Woot!!!

Hi Kindergarten. You just walk carrying nordic poles to push yourself. If you go to youtube there are lots of instructions how to do it. You can create your own intensity. I was in a lot of pain ( hips and back ) when I started nordic walking. But I'm not gonna let that pain confine me in bed. I went to my doctor and he gave me a toradol injection then the following day I put a binder around my back to stabilized it then started walking. In less than 2 weeks the pain was gone and so far it hasn't came back. SInce I was trying to lose weight that time I try to walk 5-6x/week, 1 hour a day. I do it just a little faster that my normal pace otherwise I will have shortness of breath if I exert too much. Now I only do it 2-4 times a week for an hour ( about 4.5 miles ). Nordic walking helped strengthen my back muscles and if I stop doing it I could feel the pain coming back. So whenever I feel lazy to walk I just remind myself that I dont want to be in pain. My other motivation is walk to Starbuck have my favorite breakfast sandwich there then walk home. Total time 1 hr and 45 minutes. And the more calories I burn the more food I can eat. I dont carry cellphone because there are days that I feel soooo lazy to walk and I dont wanna be tempted to call my husband to pick me up. So I just keep pushing myself to walk 10 minutes at a time til I had enough.  Then now I have no choice but to walk back home. I am not very good when it comes to sticking to an exercise regimen. This is the first time that I was consistent with an specific form of exercise. I find it so easy to do and I actually see results. I think the secret here is finding something you enjoy doing and try to do it consistently. For me it took 3 months before it became naturally part of me.

Hi, ATeamNana, I just love your enthusiasm. Your turkey lettuce wraps sound wonderful, adding that recipe to my file. Thanks!!!!!! This thread is a winnner and the 17 Day Diet is a winner, too. I also am going to look my Fitnesspal. Thank you again,P22nut5. and thank you also for your explanation of the Nordic Walk. You are doing so great with it. Good for you!!! I have a good friend, who also told me that the more we exercise, the more we can eat. I love that philosophyWink

Everyone on this thread is an inspiration to me. I have a question. Does anyone know if we can have pickles. In moderation of course. I love pickles n olives. Can't seem to find any info on when and if we can add them. I still have mouth issues and crave green olives. My onc told me to eat them that they were good for me but now that I'm sticking with the 17 day thing I don't want to mess it up. I do think I feel more energetic today so something is definitely kicking in. Good luck on weekend eating everyone!

Pickles should be fine as long as there is is no sugar. They are just cucumbers, vinegar, salt and spices. No sweet gerhkins though. I like the gardenia salad (cauliflower , carrots, onions, celery and pepperocinis in a jar) great no carb snack after 2.

Happy Saturday!!!! I'm not sure how much I should be weighing myself, but.....today will be day 3 & I already lost 3 lbs!!! I am soooo happy to see results & be enjoying what I'm eatting. I had nonfat yogurt blenderized with peaches & a drip of agave for breakfast. It was delicious!! I am quite surprised as I never had this before. Not very good at trying things I must confess. I have been having 3-4 cups of green tea a day. I found organic green tea in a beautiful box from Marshal's. Gotta love Marshal's...he-he. It's easy to drink a lot of water because I'm quite thirsty. This will be difficult next week while I'm working because I travel to see patients & going to the bathroom is always a challenge. Well, that's next week...going to enjoy the weekend & the results so far. Enjoy everyone!!! Thanks for the motivation & friendly words.

Hi everyone...tenaj...I love this diet...I too was amazed at instant weight loss.  SnoBird..I bought some low sodium kosher dill pickles...I love them and they are a great snack.  I also love cherry tomatoes but unfortunately I ate too many of those and have a sore tongue from too much acid.So I will be back to carrot sticks for a few days:)

Today my husband and I went shopping after going to get estimate on hail damage on our truck .... I was not sure what we woud do for lunch but we decided to try Red Lobster and see what we could eat.  I had Grilled Salmon and got double steamed plain broccoli instead of a potatoe ...I even passed on the biscuits which I love and drank water with lemon.  It was delicious. I can tell my energy level is higher.  Kathy...I have never been to Disneyland...that sounds like a fun time to walk and see the fireworks...Wishing everyone a great day tomorrow. It is warm here.  Happy Healthy Eating!!!

    Good Morning Friends,

Good news!! Ive lost at least 4 lbs on this diet, total of about 6. I am doing very well with the eatting & following the diet.  I am out of yogurt already, so I need to shop again. I had chicken with a salad & roasted brussel sprouts for dinner.  So far this is doable because everything I am eatting tastes so good. My DH has been detoxing with me also so it makes it a bit easier.  Although he did miss his pasta yesterday. LOL-we've been eatting pasta on Sunday around 2:00 for as long as I can remember....

I am taking a piece of chicken & red pepper & cucumber with me on the road today while I am working.  Also making a cup of green tea, I figure I can drink it cold. My challenge- to find bathrooms to use!!

ATeamNana: Hooray for you!!! I am glad you are doing so well.  It is very nice to be doing this diet with others. :-)

Kathy, what a wonderful thought to be taking your grandchildren to Disnayland. I love it!! You sound like you are enjoying life with your DH. Good for you. that is what life is all about!!

    Have a great day all.

4 days into phase 2 and I gained back 2 lbs. not too bummed but I did behave myself over the weekend except for 2 skinny Margo's. I also rowed by skiff around for 2 hrs fishing everyday over the weekend as well as walked. I guess I need to ramp up the exercise this week. I even ate homemade guacamole with a spoon instead of chips. It's not the same but I can't control myself once I start with chips. I put several spoonfuls in a small paper cup and ate that.

Starting out the week with my yogurt smoothie for breakfast. I just love them.

Snobird, sounds like you had fun this weekend. What kind of fishing? I use to love row boating, I don't think I could do it now because of the way my chest feels when I use those muscles now. Maybe I just need to heal more. I grew up fishing & boating (glad my family was into that as long island is such a great place for that!!!) I even got the opportunity to do it with my kids, except there wasn't nearly as many fish to catch. Kathy is right about water weight....alcohol will do that. Keep drinking lots of water.

HI Kathy! What kind of delicious carbs did you have? I didn't read anything past the 1st cycle yet.

I am very surprised that I am not totally starving, my body seems to be adjusting to less calories. Ive been logging onto myfitnesspal & I am eatting around 900 calories. Before I was trying to eat 1400 calories for weight loss & I was always hungry. Obviously I was eatting the wrong kinds of food. This is the first time I am excited to weigh my self !!! LOL

    Have a wonderful evening!

Miss hearing from you other ladies Jaytee, blessings, CookieMonster, Plantlover & the newbies......

I was flyfishing for trout in a local pond. I kind of got hooked on flyfishing last year when I took a couple of lessons and went on a women's only flyfishing trip to CO. Now I try to fish once a week during the early trout season in the NE. Once summer comes I don't fish as much because it is just to hot but I get back into in the fall.
