i just got marked today and my first treatment is supposed to be the 11th, as long is this unexplained infection is gone. i opted not to get the actual tattoos because i did not want even the smallest needle entering my skin with this strange infection. now i am nervous that the marks are going to come off.

I was told not to worry, they could redo them as needed. I showered, etc and they were smudged and wiped off in areas, but just remarked them very easily. Sorry about your infection. I hope you are able to treat it successfully. I have been on antibiotics for a year (4 times a day) for a mycobacterial infection...I understand your concern. I need to have nipple tattoos done to complete my recon, and can't bring myself to schedule it for the same reason. Best wishes

well, i took a shower and most of it is still there :)  there are markings under my arm pits, i went ahead and used deoderant.  but i forgot to ask if i can shave?

hope you don't mind if i ask but what does your infection look like.  mine is not near the incision site.  it is on the same boob but my incision is on the left side and the infection is on the right side.

I just finished radiation tx today! They used sharpie on me and covered it with round clear stickers. Every Friday they remarked me and replaced the stickers. It worked!

McKenna, mine started as an abdominal abscess. Had it drained and packed daily for 3 weeks. Had cultures run to determine what it was. Never showed any other symptoms...fever,redness,etc. Have they identified what yours is? How are they treating it?

Mckenna, since you don't know when you'll start rads, you might want to keep an eye on the markings and if you think they're fading call the rads center and ask if they can just redo the marks before they fade.

    Best of luck.
