    Jejik,

    Congratulations on your pregnancy. Having a child is a joy, no matter what the circumstances. I adopted 2 foster children two months before my first diagnosis in 1987. My prognosis was pretty dreadful at the time and I remember feeling pretty bummed that the kids would be losing me but I'm still here 24+ years later. The kids are now adults and have been an important part of my fight to survive! None of us know for sure how long we have. Enjoy your pregnancy and your life!! Glenna

    Jejik,

    Bringing a new life into this world, under any circumstance, is not to be taken lightly. And from your post I can tell that you have thought this through, and you have made your decision. You seem mature and aware of the difficulties that you and your child could face. I lost my Mom when I was young, as many people have. It is a life altering experience and I don't think there is a mother on this Stage IV board with young children who doesn't live with the constant fear of having to leave their babies.

    I truly wish you all the best, both with your treatment and with your new baby. I hope you enjoy many years together!!!!

    And just an aside to all... Coolbreeze has been a constant target here for no other reason it seems than because she is very honest and outspoken. Why is that so threatening? Jejik has stated that she's not offended, and she goes on to explain her understanding of Coolbreeze's comments. It would be horrific if we were all little Stage IV clones, repeating the same "politically correct" jargon to one another without a disagreeable word. original thought, or honest opinion. Now that truly is a fate worse than death!

    Well stated steelrose. Hope to see Ann back soon

    Jejik,

    Congratulations! Despite the circumstances, enjoy this unexpected blessing. Babies are the essence of hope .

    it is no surprise that we are all a bit sensitive.  geez.  it is good to support each other and i think we can forgive ourselves  the occasional angst moments.

    my son, when i scold him so cutely says "chill mom' - and shoots me with his little finger gun and his charming smile.

    (thank you pollyanna)

    @Cool Breeze,

    So sorry that this has happened to you again ..... No one should decide what should or shouldn't be said on this board. We are all individuals with different ideas and that's what makes a discussion board. I hope you won't leave. Please just ignore those who try to control our thoughts and postings. I enjoy your comments so much. You are a very wise woman and so funny sometimes .... I was so glad when you came back. I do check your blog once in a while but like it when you come here, too. Ann, you are a cool breeze and a breath of fresh air and we need you here! We are all fighting the same fight and should respect one another's right to our own thoughts and opinions. While I don't agree with everyone on the board, if I have a real problem, I would PM them rather than air my disagreement in public. Jejik had no problem with your comments and seemed to understand where you were coming from. Come on people, this is a "discussion" board, let's keep it that way!

    I just thought I would give you a little inspiration! I was 6 weeks pregnant when I found out I had stage three breast cancer. I had to make that hard decision of whether or not I was going to keep the baby. It didnt even cross my mind that I wasnt going to go through with it. It was the best decision I ever made, He was born at 31 weeks after trying to stop labor twice. I went through chemo the whole time I was pregnant and think that is why he came early. He is beautiful and is still in the hospital ( hoping he comes home soon) . You can do it , and know you made the right decision!!

    Congratulations on your pregancny.   I too believe that children are gifts from God.  You don't have an expiration date.  All of us fear leaving our children with no mother.  However, I feared this before cancer when I used to fly often.   It sounds like your baby will be loved and well cared for no matter what.   Embrace your decision and enjoy every minute of pregnancy.

    Amazing news today! Had an MRI of my liver yesterday to see how i am doing (since PET scans during pregnancy are a no no) and there is still no evidence of cancer!!!! Pretty incredible since I had to stop the herceptin back in January. Also found out a few weeks ago we are having a little girl. Feeling very blessed. So grateful to everyone on the forum, wouldn't have made it through this last couple of months without it.
