Wow, lots of great ideas and tips, this morning!!!! Thanks also for the reminder of water and green tea, we are headed to the gym, but I am making my green tea first and pouring a glass of water now and will drink it when I get back!!!!!! Have a wonderful day, ladies. Hugs, Kathy

Hi everyone! Sounds like everyone is on track & with some great ideas. I worked today so I didn't get to exercise, but did eat much better. I'm hoping my 17 day die book comes tomorrow. Looking forward to starting it.
Just something I've noticed......it seems like a large % of women with BC also have a thyroid problem. Do any of you take thyroid medicine? Just curious.....
Have a wonderful evening.
(((hugs))) Janet -
Hi tenaj. No thyroid issues I'm aware of. I read through my 17 day diet book last night. I actually started the diet today hoping I got it all straight:). I actually love vegetables chicken n tuna so I should be able to do this. If any of you look at pinterest there are some boards that have recipes. Friday will be a true test since it is a food day at work
. I managed to drink six glasses of water. Our bathroom at work is up two flights of stairs so a bonus I got to go up several times today. Does that count as exercise?? Hahaha. I did walk after I got home so I'm off to a good start. Snobird I do have a cup at my desk for water. We have no cups provided at the cooler so no dinky cups:). Kathy I actually like the green tea but I put a very small amount of stevia in it. (not even a half package) hi to cookie monster and blessing and everyone else. Getting tired so heading to bed. Have a good day tomorrow!
-
No. I do not have a thyroid problem but I was tested for it several years ago before I got BC. I was having a lot of trouble losing weight back then and I was tested for it. Turns out my weight issue back then was mostly due to sitting at my desk LOL and drinking diet soda and using sugar substitutes. Once I stopped the artificial stuff and worked standing up more I started to lose some pounds. Then I got BC and even though my weight didn't increase that much after DX it didn't decrease either. I did not have chemo but I was in menopause so that really didn't help with weight loss either but I kept working on it.
-
Hi,Tenaj, Boy, that is so funny that you would ask about a thyroid issue, I am always thinking that I have a sluggish thyroid because of past weight gain, but all my tests come back O.K. I am thinking I should see an endocrinologist. Enjoy your 17 Day Diet book. ATeamNana, good idea about the stevia in green tea. I sure put alot in my one cup of coffee, I will try it in the tea
!!! Walking up stairs is definitely exercise and enjoy your 17 Day Diet book!!!! Hugs

What's a food day?
-
My office and the one next door can think up more reasons to bring in food. We are having cinco di mayo day so everyone brings a dish to share. They may get fruit or veggies from me this time;) we graze on it all day long. So I will have to really be tough that day and stick to my plan:)
-
Make fruit plate with a lemon/lime yogurt dip. Just take plain Greek style yogurt and mix with a little lemon and lime zest plus some juice to make it smooth. Add stevia or honey to taste.
-
My cinco di mayo plan is having a Skinny maragherita: juice one or twofresh limes and 1/2 an orange, add a touch of agave syrup, good quality tequila to taste and club soda to fill the glass. Shake and serve on the rocks, with or without salt. Add a couple of wedges of lime for taste and garnish. Low calorie and tasty! Don't scrimp on the tequila it makes a difference in the taste. You can also whir this in the blender with ice for a frozen one but I like it better on the rocks.
-
Wow, Snobird, sounds yummy!!! Happy Cinco de Mayo Day to everyone. They really celebrate here with gusto, from today until Sunday!!!!!! Exercise today is moving our Jeff and Liz to a new townhome, lots running up and down stairs. Hopefully good eating today as well. Hugs to you all today!!!
-
I have made it two days. Yay! Snobird that is an excellent idea for fruit dip i made salad dressing yesterday with a little red wine vinegar and stevia They may cancel food day because three girls decided to take off Friday. That is ok for me cheaper and easier to stick to what I can eat. Snobird which phase are you in?? I am not hungry but those darn commercials make me want something not on the list but I will not cave:). I have walked the last two evenings so I better get off my duff n do something other than running up and down the stairs all day to the bathroom. Best to ya all!

Good evening ladies!
I got my 17 day diet book delivered today & was just reading it. Wow.....I'm sure if you can stick to that diet you will loose weight!!! I want to be positive but..... I'm going to try to stick to some part of it but know I will struggle with the protein part. I am very limited on my fish intake & don't like plain yogurt.( of course I like the one with the fruit on the bottom) I like the green tea part & lots of water. I will be going shopping for the fruit & veggies. How is the trivia, different than Splenda? -
I am almost done phase one. A couple of more days. So far lost 8 lbs. haven't been hungry yet. I keep an insulated lunch box filled with yogurt, fruit, salad for lunch. I bring a thermos with green tea and a water bottle to work with me every day. Breakfast today was a two egg omelette with spinach, scallions and cherry tomatoes, 1 orange, cup of coffee with cream and my water with lemon first. Snack was cut up strawberries and green tea. Lunch was veggie salad with homemade dressing. Afternoon snack was green tea and yogurt with fresh blueberries. Dinner was a salad with cherry tomatoes, leaf lettuce, red onion and homemade dressing, small piece of chicken with Cajun spices, sautéed mushrooms, sautéed Brussel sprouts. Decaf cappuccino for dessert with cream. Pouring rain so I didn't get out today.

Tenaj. I did a search on webmd Which Artificial Sweetener Is Right For You? It helped me to decide. I use stevia the 17 day diet book says truvia. Since I already have the stevia and use very very little in anything I'm gonna use the stevia. I am ok with this diet since I love any kind of fish an poultry. I'm sure fresh veggies n fruit are best but like you I work so I will be using mostly frozen. Except for apples. I can't stand yogurt but I'm trying my best to learn to like it.
-
Trivia is different than Splenda. It is made with stevia leaf which is a natural growing sweet leaf that is used as a sugar substitute. It is low calorie and high fiber.
I like wild caught flounder broiled with lemon and spices. It cooks really fast and doesn't have a strong fishy taste. Tuna is good also and easy. Try protien powder mixed with yogurt, fruit and almond or coconut milk. Great source of protien as well as eggs. You can do it! -
Snobird. Please tell me more about the cappuccino. Is it sugar free?.. Made at home.?? I miss my lattes and that might do it for me:)
-
Thanks Snobird & ATeamNana for the encouragement. I do like flounder, not crazy about tuna. I've gotta go shopping to get my supplies & I'll give it a try.
-
The cappuccino is Starbucks brand ground decaf cappuccino coffe which I brew in my Kurig coffee make or French press but it can be used in any type of coffee maker. There is no sugar in it it is just coffee. You could add stevia if you wanted to sweeten it. I add heavy cream normally but using nothing right now. Coffee is no calorie it's all the stuff we put in it that adds the calories lol.
-
Is it a k kup or ground and you use the adapter?.. I have Keurig also. I will definitely get some. Thx
-
It's just ground and I use the adapter. I have several types of coffees so I like the adapter. The cups drive me crazy storage wise and just too much additional garbage. It's also way cheaper than the cups.
-
You can add vanilla flavoring and stevia or truvia to sweeten your yogurt. Experiment with different flavors like cocoa powder, citrus zest and juice, heat blueberriesin microwave til they burst and add to yogurt after the cool. Plain yogurt doesn't have the sugar in it so you can add your own flavors and control the calories. I like the Greek style because it is thicker and not as runny but stoneyfield is good also. Check to be sure that the milk being used is free of hormones. Most organic yogurts are hormone free.
-
Hi, Everyone, I love coming here and getting great ideas and tips. Yes, the 17 Day Diet wants you to eat alot of plain yogurt, I am cheating here and eating the Greek Yoplait vanilla. So far I have not gained any weight, but maybe not losing as much as I could. I will find out Friday, if I have lost any more weight. What I love about this diet is that, I have finally eliminated sugar and bad desserts from my diet. I don't miss them any more. I hope I can keep this up. I use Truvia in my coffee. Now, that I am in the second cycle, I don't miss white bread anymore or potatoes. You are all doing great and you all give me so much inspiration to just keep going!!! I remember when was my best friend, and now family, hubby and women like you are my best friends!!!!! A big heartfelt thanks to you all and to PlantLover for starting this thread!!!
-
Kathy I so agree with you....it is so helpful.....I'm on day 3 and so far so good..I can't take the plain yogurt either but I am using fat free low sugar blah blah...I'm taking cherry tomatoes today to snack on thankfully I love them and they are on the free list! Catch ya all later.....
-
Dear ATeamNanaYou are doing great, cherry tomatoes sound great. I love tomatoes. I had a little back slide last night. I ate some ritz crackers with cheese late last night. I was just so hungry!!! But I did get on the scale this morning to see if there was any damage, and
surprisingly I lost a pound. I am not supposed to weigh myself until Friday, but I had to know if the crackers and cheese did any damage. I think I becoming obsessed, he,he,he!!!! Oh, well onward and forward. We did work hard yesterday moving our kids into their new place. Today we are headed to the gym!!! Have a wonderful day, everyone!!!!
-
Good Morning everyone. You ALL sound like you are doing so well. I made my shopping list, now I just have to get to the store. I did the treadmill this morning for 30 min & some crunches on a big ball this morning. I had a bowl of cheerios this morning with organic 1% milk & green tea. Going to have some baked chicken breast with a salad for lunch, then off to the dentist. Hopefully I will get to the store today for fruit, veggies & yogurt.
Kathy, you are doing so well. What a great job, you are going to look beautiful at the wedding. Looking forward to hearing all about it. Did your son move closer to you & is this your pregnant daughter in law?
ATeamNana sounds like you are doing so well on the diet already. You have motivated me to try although the food choices will be difficult for me.
Snobird thanks for all the great ideas, I will give some a try.
Have a great day!!
