Timothy:  I'm with you....I quickly became a convert when we purchased and began using our Vita Mix blender.  My juicer is now collecting dust once again in the storage cabinet.  Not everyone likes that taste of the fiber in the drink...I think it's acquired, but it's so much healthier for you unless for some reason you have digestive problems.  I think many who are taking chemo might have difficulty digesting the smoothies, in which case the juicing is the best option.

Kaara: I've heard you have to drink the juice within 20 minutes for the best effect.  This is a nuisance and hopefully not true. I would really like to make enough for one day--

The juices I've heard yes, but the smoothies can withstand 24 hours if you store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator.  That said, I'm sure the greatest benefit comes from drinking them immediately after making, regardless.

I've wondered how well adding a vitamin C tablet to a fruit smoothy might help prevent oxidation of the fruit and the dark colour that brings on.  I've tried it, and it doesn't make any noticeable change in the taste.  I just havent' tested the effect on the longevity of the mixture.  I remember back when I was 16 and worked in a restaurant one summer, the potatoes we cut into curly fries went into a vat that we sprinked something called "Spud White" on to prevent them turning black.  The ingredients said it was ascorbic acid powder (ie Vitamin C).  So if you make your juice in the morning and take it to work, this might be something to try to prevent it going brown.

I add a powdered vitamin C to my smoothie along with MSM because the smoothie absorbs the taste of the two which were formerly taken with water. It doesn't turn brown at all even when stored a couple of days.

I would think some lemon would do the trick!
