Under Armour and Silverwear ???
For those of you who swear by UA, is there a certain "style" number or name of the shirt? I know there have been lot of threads on the challenges between the women cut and the mens cut of shirt. I just can't seem to find an UA shirt that fits. I can't seem to find a long sleeved one that has enough compression. Now that the warmer weather is arriving, all the UA in the stores are short sleeved. I do have one short sleeve (boys large) that works well with the sleeve but I can't find along sleeve that is not a turtleneck. Does it exist?
Also, I got the shrug style solidea garment and LOVE the fabric and the waves it leaves on my arms but like Binney noted, the wrist is too long and tight and then there is bunching of fabric. Does anyone know why it's made that way?? Has anyone requested they make the silverware fabric in a sleeve that isn't bunched? I am going to try to write/call them to see but wanted to know what others might think about this sleeve. I guess I'll be cutting it up and putting in my bra like cookiegal. It just doesn't fit my slender wrists. Ack!

The stores in my area are hit-and-miss on UA, particularly womens' styles -- I usually use the UA website, which has a more complete collection.

I order from the website, too. I order long-sleeved, V necked women's in a size smaller than I usually wear. This works for me. I have tried men's, but found that the upper arm area was more generous than I wanted, since I'm using the shirts to control swelling. I determined this by being able to try them on in person at Dick's and Sports Authority. Once you find what fits you, ordering online is fine. Also, there are way more colors by ordering online.

I find that the women's long-sleeved shirts work well for me, size smaller than usual. But for short sleeved (which I wear when working out, using a compression sleeve/gauntlet), I need to use mens' shirts, because the women's short-sleeve shirts' sleeves are cut so high, they seriously irritate my underarm--no, they actually hurt. There's an UA outlet store about 1.5 hours away, so once and a while I'm there and check. Have found some good buys, but they don't have a full range of style/color choices in stock.

Thanks everyone. I guess I'm going online to see about "trial and error" purchasing with return option. I agree the woman's short sleeve is cut too high and it does hurt! I use a youth short sleeve in extra large and it does work well with the sleeve (I think I got that idea from you, Carol, thank you). I'll see if I can find some women's v-neck long sleeves online.
gosh, I just wish they'd go ahead and make a darn silverwave shirt or tank. It would be awesome.

Trying on UA is supposed to be one of my tasks for the week, so your post is timely. Will check Sports Authority and Dick's Sporting, perhaps order online. I am guessing the women's tops will be too tight for me in the underarm area. Was going to try a men's small, but it's good to know about the youth sizes, too! Thank you, Catherine, for asking about this.

Ok, I found the perfect UA gear for doing the HULK breathing moves:

Maybe i'll just live in one of these energy suits all day long! It's hard to be a super hero and look like one too.

Now, if they make this in green, we are all set! ;-) Hmm, I wonder what it looks like inside out?
-
Inside out?! That is too funny! Only an LE superhero would understand.

My LE therapist wants me to get an underarmour t-shirt for exercising and airplane trips. Went to their website and I'm overwhelmed.
I am petite (5'2", 30-32 A/B). Do you think I would do better with boys, girls, or women's sizes? UA seems to make shirts in different fabrics. Which one is the compression fabric? - KS1

HI, KS1,
If you hover over the "womens" tab near the top of the page, you'll notice that a big box with lots of search options appears, one of which (bottom right of the box) is compression. Not sure about sizing on the XS womens' size, but I'm on the low end of the womens' medium sizing and a medium fits me very snugly. I bought the recharge energy shirt when I started back working out after surgery, and I love it (but it's long-sleeved, not short).

KS, If you need the shirt for truncal and don't need long sleeves, several of us have found that the mens' short-sleeve shirts work better than the women's short-sleeve shirts. The womens' SS have cap-type sleeves, and they feel to me like they are so high that they cut into my underarm. The mens' SS shirts have a longer sleeve--just a few inches, but it makes a big difference.
But--do you have a retail store near home that sells these? Because I find that the fit of even say, a womens small is not the same from stye to style. As to fabric, just make sure that the item is labeled 'compression fit.' They make different weights of fabric in the compression line. I have some that are heavier fabric for winter, and I have one that has a fabric that seems almost like a waffle weave (but no real bumps), so it's lighter weight and does the best job of wicking perspiration of all the UA shirts I own.
If you want to experiment with shirts that are much less expensive than UA, here is a source. I have two of them, mens' size S, and they work well for compression, fit fine, but don't seem to wick quite as nicely as the UA. http://www.goathleticapparel.com/compression-series?TreeId=1&vmcchk=1 These are $10 - $15, amazingly.

KS. You could try the boy'schilds size in largest size they have. I have seen them. I think they would fit your size.
