Anyone found mets very soon after finishing treatment?????.
Hi Girlies,
I'm going to my doctor today because I have a sore wrist, it has become bothersome at this stage, started to pain me only a few days ago. I also have twinges in my sacrum and ribs. I'm guessing the doc will put it all down to Tamoxifen, I have had NO side effects with the tamoxifen so far, been taking it since Feb. I have an abdominal ultrasound tomorrow morning as I have had a distended stomach now for a few weeks and it feels uncomfortable. Had bloods done last week and the onocologist said it would be extremely highly unlikely to have mets so soon after finishing chemo Dec 29th 2011, bloods came back clear. Anyone diagnosed with mets soon after finishing treatment???????

Update.
My doctor asked me was I taking anything for the pain and I said no and she told me to take paracetamol !!! I said can she not put a bandage on it as it's really painful and she said no because there was no trauma to my wrist. I have taken paracetamol and Ibuprofen and that bloody wrist is still killing me. Doc has told me to continue taking paracetamol for the week and come back Friday if it's still hurting me. Great! ;-(

Abdominal ultrasound clear except for a 8cm ovarian cyst, so that's why I felt like an anchor around there!!! Don't know what they are gonna do about that.

raffomimi I am on Anastrozole (generic Arimidex) not Tamoxifen but I had no SE for the first 3 months. I started to get stiffness/joint discomfort after that and some of the hot flashes I had on chemo (not bad) that went away came back ever so slightly… but all after the first 3 months.
good thing to have it checked but don't panic.

I am on an AI (Femara) and not Tamoxifen since March, and aches and pains have definitely increased. Carpal tunnel that has not bothered me since 2004 is back in full force. Legs and knees ache as well. I am 49 and was told when diagnosed that my nuclear bone scan showed signs of arthritic deterioration in the joints which is of course aggravated by the drug.
During the testing/staging process in September, my wrist was bothering me from a sprain/small fracture the previous year. I was so scared to undergo that nuclear bone scan, but it showed nothing. Maybe there's something about stress that aggravates previous injuries and traumas?
It's probably going to be nothing, but after what we've all been through (and I notice you are in the ILC group like me), you will have peace of mind once it's checked out. It sounds like they are getting you into the tests quickly. -
Thank you so much for replying to me. I only live 3 minutes from the hospital which is very handy and thankfully they are quick to test as well(It's a teaching hospital) . They have a good oncology team there. They are sending my ultrasound report to my oncologist and I guess I'll hear from her office soon. I have been taking paracetamol tablets now with codeine for my sore wrist and it's still sore!!!. I do hope it's not a side effect from the Tamoxifen.I spoke with an oncology nurse today and she said If my wrist is still sore by Thursday to go to my GP and she will probably contact them for further investigation.
Hugs and blessings
