Purchasing DIM

Options

Hello everyone,

Hope life is treating you good :-)

I was wondering, does anyone have a link to where I could purchase DIM supplements (organic preferably if there is such a thing) ? I live in France, so maybe US sites don't ship overhere. It has been impossible for me to find DIM in Europe! I found some US sites selling DIM, but I wanted to ask the question here, so I don't get ripped off with either no delivery or bad product.

I'm still making up a 'health plan' for myself; what to eat, what supplements to take etc. I've noticed that when I got my periods back after 8 months (they stopped with the 1st dose of Taxotere last April), my hormones seem to play tricks on me. I guess it's the body regulating, but I really want more of the Diindolylmethane to keep the ratio of estrogen in check. I lost almost 20 pounds (after chemo and not because of it) when I went organic and got up an interest for healthy food, but today I see the kilos come creeping back; especially around the stomach (bad bad bad). Maybe it's the estrogen coming back in full force now when my body has had time to get rid of some chemo and gotten its periods back..Maybe I've gotten lazy? Anyone else experienced this?

Since almost a year, I'm eating exlusively organic, with cruciferous veggies finding their way to my plate two times a day. I do homegrown broccoli and watercress sprouts too. I don't know if anyone is familiar with the brand Pukka (they make teas, supplements etc), I found a supplement called 'Clean Greens' in Sweden, where I'm originally from. It contains Nettle leaf Fresh freeze Dried, wheat grass juice fresh cold dried (15%), barley grass juice fresh cold dried, parsley leaf, spirulina (7.5%), chlorella, Seagreens arctic fresh seaweed, kale sprout fresh freeze dried (5%), fennel seed, peppermint leaf, green tea leaf, ginger root.

Guess that is better than nothing?! I'd like to think so! Other than that to keep my liver in good shape and put all chances on my side to metabolize better and to fight candida I suffered from prioir to diagnosis, I take Sillymarin & grapeseed extract. Seaweed has always been part of my diet, I just love it, and I eat it so as to balance the eventual 'goitrous' effects of 'too much' cruciferous vegs.

A dear friend of mine contracted Hepatitis C and he recommended reishi supplements, which had helped him to a point that his doctors were amazed. I purchased some organic reishi myself (no soy protein isolate or such things), but I don't go crazy with it as I know it has estrogenic properties. Although I believe if it's natural (that includes tempeh and other kinds of fermented soy) it's ok. I think the pro's of taking reishi are far more than the con's, don't you?

Thank you for any advice where to get DIM, and any advice at all actually!

Warm hugs to everyone, especially those who are having a bad day.

I haven't ordered from them yet, but they carry some of the supplements that my one doctor recommends PURE brand.  Don't know if they deliver outside the US.  all the best to you.

Hello Carola, believe it or not I had a hard time finding DIM without soy, really gotta read the fine print. The only brand I was able to find (but not the least) is the one formulated by Dr. Lorna.  It contains Calcium D-Glucarate, Indole-3-Carbinol, Green Tea Extract,Turmeric, DIM, Rosemary Extract and Sulforaphane

I just quit Tamox and feel very confident about this product.  You can interact with the doctor on her website:

I'm also working on the aromatase issue and just found this amazing study, here's the link:

Hope this helps, keep in touch Wink

Thank you Maud for your response.

Hmm, yeah I imagine that if I'm to purchase a US supplement I will have to be very vigilant concerning the soy they put in them..Such a shame! My radsdoc prescribed a whole lot of vitamins post-rads, of which I took none because every single one (Vit.C..Vit E..etc) had either parabens and/or soy in them. I know now I should have taken the vitamin E supplementation, cause today I have breathing issues (the vitamin E post-rads is to 'humidify' the membranes, especially in the lungs and stomach, so one doesn't get oversensitive), silly me I know, but hey..You learn every day!

Good for you that you're off the Tamoxifen, I checked out Lornas site, and funny enough she recommends Floradix for anemia due to heavy periods in the same article as Estrosmart..Guess what I've been taking for the last two weeks, hehe. Floradix sure did help. My periods lasted for 13 days (Niagara falls style- so sorry for the explicitness..) and I developed anemia (had problems with that when I was a teenager). I tried the plant based Floradix for more iron, and after 6-7 days I felt gooood! No tiredness, palor, irritability, depressive thoughts...Great Laughing

I also read your link about grapefruit seed extract from the British Journal: My understanding is that it is supposedly 'bad' for ER+ gals, as it heightens one's estrogen levels...I must say I'm quite dubious to that study (maybe it's because I'm a fan of the supplement and don't want to give it up!)..Then again it is only ONE paper...AND I'm still premeno (the study was for postmenopausal women)...Speaking of which, what an interesting study about AI's in foods. That's my kind of news!
