Nsmolen- my thoughts and prayers are with you. I would definitely get multiple opinions. We are our best advocates.
-
Nsmolen - I agree second opinion is a must. I am praying foy you too. Try to stay positive.
-
nsmolen, (((((BIG HUGS)))), you are in my prayers. Don't give up, there are so many success stories for triple negative girls. My SIL has triple negative BC. Please seek a second opinion or third or fourth, until you get a POSITIVE doctor, NOT DR. DOOM!
Peace,
Caitlin
-
Nsmolen: you have every right to feel what you feel, and then please please keep up the fight, try anything and everything out there, surround yourself with positive constructive people and info. Just keep going. Surround yourself with love and just keep going, looking for answers, learning. I'm adding my hugs to those of the dozens of loving ladies here...
-
Well I'm off for round #3 soon. Might be a really long day if I haven't got my iron up. Wishing for everyone to have a good Friday!
-
nsmolen
I wanted to add that one of the gals on the February chemo thread was DX with liver mets from the get go. While she is getting dose dense TX, her recent pathology came back and it showed the TX is working, the tumors have definatly shrunk. She is getting ready for the next round but it is working!
-
Spent the night in the ER. WBC is off the charts at 52. Gee, you think the neulesta is on overdrive? So I get to spend the day laying around and watching my temp. The work of a cancer girl is never done. Good luck with tx today lost!
-
triplem67 - oh wow! hope it gets better! I like your saying that the work of a cancer girl is never done!
Happy Friday and here's to minimal SE!
-
Lost - good luck with #3 today.
Michelle - oh my on the ER. So do you think they will reduce your nuelasta dosage next time?
I am off to the dermatologist. Bah. -
Nsmolen- they have a Triple negative research clinic at MD Anderson. And they do consults without having to travel. Might be something to check out.
Michelle- sorry to hear that WBC is so high. They don't give Neulesta at MD Anderson unless you absolutely need it. Do you have to do the shots if you are having high count issues?
Lost- good luck with # 3
Kltb04- you are about one week ahead of me and have the exact same treatment. So it helps to read your posts.
kCB- hope your issues get resolved and you are back on chemo soon.
Good luck to those getting ready for Tx next week. I know there are a few.
Nine days after Tx 2 for me. Exact same pattern as #1. Three days of feeling nauseated. Followed by few days of heart burn ( controlled by Prilosec). Worried about infections next week as they don't give me Neulesta. But overall still doable and hanging in there. -
Anybody think their on a permanent upswing until next treatment, and then dived back down energy wise? I was feeling so good for two days, I mowed my grass, washed my windows, fixed up my patio for summer, and then next day, wham! On my butt on the couch all day! Yikes! I thought I was all back to semi normal by Monday! Now I'm afraid to do anything!
-
Yes I'm definitely going to talk to the MO.about the shot. Even the doc said last night that I probably don't need it since their doing fine on their own.
-
Sissydi- sorry to hear your tired. Impressed with how much you got done. My energy levels are quite low even on the third week after Tx. I am good between 10.00 and 5.00 but crash after that. Feel bad as I am not able to do much with the kids when they get home. I have tried to rest during the day to see if it helps but I crash in the evening irrespective of what I do. So I just do things during the day and rest in my recliner and watch the kids play. Can't wait for all this to end and be able to do things with them.
-
This should be my good weekend before my next treatment on Thursday. I hope it is because I have plans tomorrow and I would like to keep them! LOL
I do seem more tired than last time, I make it to work, but by 5 pm I am done. I haven't worked out as much as want because all I manage to do is sit on the couch when I get home. I bet if I could make myself do some exercise it would be better! I need to work on that!
-
Sissy, sounds like maybe you just overdid it. I'm several weeks out and still find myself tiring easier than I used to. Frustrating. Maybe limit yourself to one big chore on the days you feel good.
Katy, how are you feeling? What is your status medically? You aren't still in the hospital are you? I hope you are up and better soon!
Hugs to all,
Amy

Sissydi - I felt the exact same way with the 2-3 days prior to my biweekly treatment feeling absolutley NORMAL even. My energy level otherwise has been lessened, but certainly not what is usually is...After my 2nd tx & having a day of vomiting after stopping my Ondansetron (Zofran) 2 days afterwards, they told me at tx#3 yesterday to take the steroid Dexamethazone, twice daily (breakfast/dinner - not before sleep at night) in conjunction with the Zofran for 2 days, & then just the for a 3rd day, weaning off that if I feel the need. That Zofran is seriously constipating for me so would like to only take it when absolutely necessary! We'll see how this goes...still have Companzine for backup.triplem67 - yikes! I was told my neutrophils ("Gran") count at 8.6 was high after taking Neupogen for 10 days straight after tx#1...advised to cut back to 8 shots after tx#2 & it was only 1.9, so went ahead with tx#3 & advised to stay with the 8 shots again. (apparently 2.0 to 7.5 is normal range)nsmolen - I'm TN as well & am seriously looking into:& a comprehensive thread here on:Hope that gives you somewhere to start if you so choose to look for things we can do in conjunction/addition to conventional therapies - stay with us, please!(edited to fix a link)

Back from dermatologist...the spot on my head is a seborrheic keratosis so it is completely benign. I was in and out of there in 5 minutes. Of course, it took much longer than that factoring in the 45 minute to an hour drive each way...oh well, at least it is off my mind. Am quite sure I will have a new symptom to obsess about in a day or two.
RE: tiredness...this is my "good week" before TX and I am still tired a lot. I find myself doing things during the day to get them done but by the time I get the kids from school I am exhausted. Kim, I am with you on the exercise, I haven't done anything since the day of the skunk.
Got done in time to come back to youngest DD's picnic at the park (my mom was already there as backup in case I didn't make it) and tonight oldest DD is having friends over after a school dance so I came home long enough to eat least make sure the bathrooms were wiped down and the house was picked up. Now that I have sat down I don't want to get back up.
-
Yay, kltb04, glad it was nothing! That tired feeling kind of sneaks up on you, doesn't it? I don't feel bad otherwise today but walking down to the basement to grab a clean towel out of the dryer seemed like all I could handle earlier.
-
LOL Indigo you were posting just as I PM'd you - great minds think alike.
Oh I almost forgot, I could have used Shera's Supergirl today because I turned into crazy cancer bitch with road rage!! Trying to pull out of a gas station parking lot and a huge dump truck was determined he was turning in. Tried to force me to back up (there were cars behind me) and was just mouthing and waving his arm. Well, I mouthed back and accompanied it with some rude hand gestures (hey, I'm not proud, but it happened) and then was forced to inch around him and just gunned it and squealed out of the parking lot going right instead of the direction I needed to go and turned around down the road. I swear I am going to get shot if I don't calm down some days.
-
Today I'm feeling much better....couch potato all day yesterday, and that helps. Thanks all for your input! Monday is Tx 4 (and last) of the A/C, so one more week from hell stomach wise, then on to Taxol!
Ktlb, I don't think anybody blames you; we have little to no patience these days! -
Hi Ladies: re neulasta... My day 3 of round 2, the day after I'd had the shot, my WBC was 68, but sank to 1 by day 9... Crazy hard to know if it's helping or hindering.
I came home from hospital on Monday (2nd time), and am joyfully still home. May the complications and emergencies be over, please. I've been slowly graduating from liquids to mushed food to soft food, and eventually back to real food. They want to fatten me up and build up my strength before re-starting chemo, so want me to have some supplements to boost calories and protein intake. Having trouble navigating all the different info re nutrition: low fibre for colostomy, high fibre for diverticulitis, but high fibre for chemo, on and on. Will see nutritionist next week to help me filter the info.
The plan is to restart chemo may 8, so two weeks after my scheduled third session. It could have been this coming week but they want me to be stronger, build my immunity more.
I am terrified.
I know chances are incredibly slim that something crazy will happen again to me, but the unlikely has already happened, and now I'm working hard to find courage and trust my body and the dr.s when they assure me there is no link between the chemo or the anti nausea meds and the perforation.... -
Ok a little question here. I was in ER last night and they infused me with 3 different antibiotics. Rocephin, levaquin, and vancomycin. Woke up this morning with my right breast itching like crazy. So I'm sitting here thinking that rationally its probably from last night, but the cancer side is saying "oh my God it's spreading". What do you guys think?
-
I know *sigh* I find myself using so many four-letter words that I tried not to use before. People just love to drive down my street with their stereos blasting so loudly, I can even feel it in my chest as well as it shaking my house. There was one that decided to go up and down the street the other day, and their stupid music wasn't doing anything for my headache. I went out into the yard to tell them to move the hell away from my house - and my DS#2, with big eyes, said "Mom, people have gotten shot at for telling someone to turn down their music...."
Not worth that - but, oh, I wish I'd had that hot flash tazer gun to fry their stereo!!
-
Lol Indigo!
Michelle I bet it is the antibiotics. When I was infused with iv antibiotics when I had my seroma infection my head itched so bad they had to give me Benadryl in the iv. I bet it is a delayed reaction. Could always try benadryl at home.
KCB. Sounds like they have a good game plan in place. I know it must be scary but things will be better this time. I just know it.
Gotta go before I get in trouble for texting while inching forward in car pickup line. -
I'm waiting for my brother to bring me food then I will try a Benadryl. I've been at the docs everyday this week so I'm going to try that first.
-
I may take one tonight just for sleep - my eyes have been soooo itchy today, although it is probably due to contacts and makeup and chemo and not allergies...I will be back in glasses for awhile now (I don't wear them for the first couple days of chemo anyway, I figure my eyes are probably tearing up toxic substances if my other bodily fluids are!)
Ok, lets see, it took me approximately 2 hours to find something else to worry about! After I picked up DD, I was scratching the back of my head around my wig and felt a bump/lump. I worried about it the whole time we were driving home, was googling "lymph nodes or lumps near base of skull" while waiting at her friends houses for them to pack - ugh! Anyway, I got home and with 2 mirrors and a flashlight I looked at it myself and it is red, it is at the base of my skull near where my scarves/wig/hats rub so I am going to ASSUME it is just an ingrown hair. If it wasn't red, I would be more concerned that it was a lump under the skin and not on top of it. I just hope it is gone by Monday because with my MO's history she will send me for some kind of test if she thinks I am the least concerned.
-
KCB - just sending you all the positive purple energy I can spare! I'm glad to hear you are out of the hospital again.
-
Michelle, it sounds like too much of a coincidence to me - that you are itching just after last night. I know everything knocks us for a loop though, but hopefully the Benadryl will fix you up (and at least, help you sleep it off!!!).
-
Home from tx #3. I had more shrinkage so feeling good about that. Also got out of having to have iron by iv, I get to try pills first, glad of this because they said it was a 4 hour drip then I would get my regular tx. I even gained weight! Getting up at 4:30am was the hardest part of the day.
Sissydi- you did more in that one day than I ever would have. But I don't mow lawns or do windows.
onvacation-I've heard of exercise, and that some people like it.
kltb-glad you got good news, please don't run over crazy people. My DH about jumped out of our big red truck the other day when some woman tried to take our lane while we were still in it! never go to walmart on Sat.
indigo-I had to laugh about the towel because earlier this week I kept getting my whites out of the clean hamper, to much work to actually put them away.
-
Lostinmo, yay on the shrinkage! I feel for you having to drive all that way. LOL on your comment on exercise - I walk but that's about it. I couldn't believe how tired my legs felt the other day when I realized that I can't walk at my normal pace or distance these days.
